Yes, although 1-series is more practical and can be taken on road trips (to races), and costs less. I also miss my E46 M3.

I Never watch Motor Trend, but it just happened to be starting and they were going to review the 1 Series M, so I watched it. Man what a hot car, but when they said its only 10k less then an M3, I thought, "No that's ok, I save a little more and get an M3"

Bought a Dark Gray Metallic 2011 Subaru WRX STI today. This thing is seriously beastly. Will post a iPhone pic or two later.

Only complaint so far is that the clutch doesn't have much feel to it. However the gearbox is very nice, and the pedals are setup pretty well for heel-toe shifting. Sport# mode baby! Still gotta figure out the double LSD adjustments.

^^^ But the M3 is no longer decently lightweight....it's a friggen pig!

Ahhh understandable. The other factor to consider is exclusivity/ collect-ability. The 1M wins there correct?

Not only is the M3 a heavy car (at 3700 lbs.) but by the time you option it decently, you are well into the high $60K range, so it's not $10K more than a nicely equipped 135 or 1M, but closer to $20K more. The 1M is really closer to what I had with a E46 M3.

But a yellow Cayman S with brown leather interior would be pretty sweet. :)

In any case I have several years to think about it. Gotta pay off my wife's new STI first.

Yeah I really miss my eclipse it was allot of fun to drive. It was just a Gs with the 420a engine though. I totaled it out about 2 years ago when I hit someone going 70mph thankfully no one was hurt. I liked the DSM scene but I will say my 240 is a better car in every way compared to my eclipse. Faster, handles better, sounds better, RWD, easy to get it sideways lolz. Also the 240/Drifting scene has been treating me right.
Ah, GS.. mine were all AWD. AWD and turbo is soooooo much more fun. Especially if you are in an area with snow.
Though, yeah the 240 is definitely more fun than a GS.

My 2001 Chrysler LHS has finally passed away... I was putting too much money into it as of late... 165,000 miles. The above picture was taken at the repair shop where she was sold (broken) for $900.

Replaced with a hand-me-down (AKA "free") replacement: 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis. 86,000 miles on it, in very good condition overall. I figure this car, which is comfy on the highway, easy riding, and powerful, will get me through a few years. It's not as terrible on gas as one might think. Since I do a lot of highway driving, the size (212" overall length) doesn't bother me, and I have off-street parking at my apartment in Boston.

Yesterday I just bought a set of Bridgestone Blizzak WS70 and had those mounted, considering it's RWD and I live in New England. I'm eager to see how they perform: from what I've been reading, they sound like the good choice for a winter tires.

2005 CTS-V. Just recently started heavily modifying/upgrading it. Currently has headers, cat-delete, custom exhaust, Creative-Steel poly motor and tranny mounts. Is currently spending the week in the shop having a performance cam, air intake, throttle body ported, lightweight flywheel and Stage 3 clutch installed. Further plans (before Christmas) include CNC ported/polished heads. After all upgrades, the car should hit 480-500 rear wheel HP.

You will be happy with the Blizzaks. I am ordering a winter wheel/tire setup for my new WRX STI and those are the tires I'm probably getting. I'm also considering the LM-60s which are less squishy, but don't have as good snow traction. Both of these tires were recommended by the TireRack sales rep I've dealt with for years.

This is sick! Our Subuaru sales person told us we didn't need a different set of tires for winter, because the car is all wheel drive. It comes with Dunlop SP Sport 600 tires. These are extreme performance summer tires that loose all grip whatsoever at freezing temperatures. What an idiot! Good for my wife that I know better.

Haven't driven much today, but you can deff tell they are not performance tires at above legal speeds (80+ on dry asphalt felt a tad squirrelly). More detailed reviews to come!

Yes, they will squishy and not inspire confidence at higher speeds, but that's not what they are for. If you want dry performance, you'll have to compromise on snow + ice traction. There is no ideal tire for multiple situations.

I was going to buy a 98 GSX but decided I wanted something with RWD so I got the 240. I will have a 350z in about a year; then like I said I am going to build the 240. Also it never really snows here I live in the south (GA).

OK. Here's a couple of the new WRX STI. Only 140 miles on it. Getting clearbra on Thursday. Will wait a couple months for tint (no need for it in winter). I would like to add a front strut tower brace, but need to figure out which one and where to buy it.

This car is a beast. Reminds me of my E46 M3 in terms of performance. I got it with the short throw shifter, which is awesome. Great gearbox on this car. Still have to figure out what I can do with the adjustable dual LSD. Sport# mode is nice...love the throttle mapping it provides.

I have seen that. This car is primarily for my wife, and we wanted something now, something AWD, and something we could deal for. I imagine once the BRZ sees the light of day, it will be at a premium. I got a great deal on the STI buying out of dealer inventory.

Great pic, awesome color, good choice! Boost buggies on track must be soooo much fun!

I am curious however, is the hood scoop functional, or purely cosmetic like on a Mustang?
Yes, the scoop is functional. It directs airflow over the IC. The vents behind the front wheels are also functional pulling more air volume through the engine bay.

The brakes on this are awesome (like my MINI JCW). Brembo 4 pots on the front and 2 pots on the rear.
