Salt on the roads is bad for the car, not to mention a lot of sports cars don't handle well in the snow.

this^ in addition to the fact that I work alot in winter so I dont have as much time to enjoy it so I drive my beater to work. better gas milage and runs like a champ and only cost me 1000 bucks so I could care less what happens to it (snow, salt, deer, dents etc)

Huh? I am confused. Did you get two of them?

Yeah, he did. He got one for his wife about two weeks ago, but then decided to replace his MINI JCW with another STI. Guess he liked it too much!

Anyways, I normally think his/her car sets are SUPER cheesy, but in this case I just can't come to that conclusion.

I know when I lived in Albany, they put so much salt on the roads, I forget they are a paved road and not gravel.....and cars up their showed it

Now here in CO, we do not use salt, but magnesium chloride (which is as corrosive as water)

This is nice as up in NY, I never saw cars from the early 90's as daily drivers yet see them out here all the time

My second new STi in as many weeks. Brought it home late yesterday...

Reminds me of my brother's 2005 MG ZS a lot. Both of them are cars that look like they are built for function over form. There isn't a lot of coherence in the design of the panels, or the shape of anything on the car. It's as if the designer of every part was in a room on their own until the very last minute in development when they had to piece everything together.

Yes, that is correct. The Dark Gray Metallic I bought the day before Thanksgiving, and the WR Blue I bought yesterday.

Hell of an impulse buy I guess. That's a lot of dough going out for car payments, but to each their own...enjoy it.
I guess you know all about the discussions my wife and I had on the subject, and you are expert on my financial situation.

Hell, I had an M3 that cost almost as much as both these cars put together. Actually, our car payments now are pretty much the same as for my MINI JCW and my wife's BMW E46 330ci.

Never claimed to, just said it sounded like a hell of an impulse buy, based on what you posted about having time to think your next car purchase over while paying off the wife's new car for the next several years.

Congrats.

Saying I want to pay my wife's car off first doesn't mean I need to pay my wife's car off first. People change their minds and plans about all kinds of things.

Anyway, I don't think judgmental comments (which is what it was) about other people's impulses or ability to pay for two nice cars are in the spirit of this thread, nor any other for that matter.

Where'd you hear this? Mag chloride is quite corrosive. It's the chlorides that affect corrosion, so both sodium chloride and magnesium chloride are both corrosive. Mag chloride is somewhat less corrosive, but still corrosive and detrimental to you car!

:)

This would be Marilyn. She's a 2006 Nissan Altima, and I would be lost without her. Well, I would probably have a more difficult time with transportation at least.
