I live in a city, there are too many cars as it is!

Nice! Triple benefit... You get the exercise, you save money on gas and parking, and it's good for the environment.[/QUOTE]

Yep, and because it folds, I have no need of a garage or shed to store it - it sits nicely by the bookcase. If I have to go a long way, it can go into a bag and be taken on all forms of public transport as luggage (bike spaces are hard to come by). It also helps join the dots when the bus or train stops miles from your final destination.

Photo from yesterday's autoX. My car rolled off the assembly line and the engine was started for the first time 10 years ago today (aka: production status code 155). I was calling BMWNA on a daily basis for status updates on my special ordered car back then. Some new M3 Shadowline window trim is sitting in a FedEx facility at the moment and will be installed this week, along with new door seals. I will take a couple of beauty shots once that is on the car.

Looks good, especially that blue! How'd you do? And are those Volk TE37s on your car?

What country is that? As an American, I've always been fascinated by the Middle East's variants of cars that I see here; I prefer the grille and taillights on your Camry.

If I would guess I'd say it's one of the older saudi arabian plates.

Ahh I LOVE RS-3s. I am just bummed they dont come in a size I can use...

And yes, it's hard to beat the ///Ms...
And good job! I just got the results from my Autox on the last page, and came in 3rd for the day, and 1rst for my class. Then again all non-Porsches are lumped into class "X"

Also reading your page, why not go with a square tire setup? Or does that outclass you? (Edit, NM you state you will LOL)

I need a gearing change to have a chance at being competitive, which is why a 6-speed transmission swap and a 3.46 diff are on top of my mod wish list at this point. The stock 330 2.93 final drive just doesn't cut it when you're running against M3s.

I'll square up my street tires next time I replace them. My autoX tires are already square.

Those 3 series sedans got a much needed facelift and look a little nicer than the Kia-esque rear they had before, but BMW's pricing has gotten absolutely asinine.

Want a 328i? Start at $35k, pay another $2k-$2500 for one of the "line" models, then pay a ridiculous $3,600 for the premium package, $1,450 for leather, $1,350 for the cold weather package, $950 for a good stereo, and they even pour salt in the wound by making you shell out $900 for Xenons that cars half the price have standard. Or, if you go the non-package route, the moonroof is $1,050, the heated front seats are $500, power seats are $995 (that's just an insult to the consumer to shell out a grand for power seats on an already $40k car), and the stereo will still set you back $950 and the Xenons still will cost you $900. Leather still comes in at $1,450, ouch.

As a final kick in the pants, they'll insult you to the tune of $475 for a freaking fold down rear seat. Incredible.

So I don't get any of that stuff standard on a $35k car, nor on the "Modern" line I paid another $2k for. Instead they tell me about how for $2k extra I get a color-accented key-fob among my other piddly upgrades. So what am I paying $40k for if I don't even get Xenons, leather, or a moonroof on a "luxury" car?

Sorry, but while I've had an E30 and an E36 myself, I have to say BMW has just gotten out of hand with their pricing. Nothing is included, and every option/package has way unrealistic prices. I can't stomach $3,600 for a "premium" package to give me things that should be standard on that level of car.

And to think, this is a 328i, not even a 335i. It wouldn't surprise me if those top out somewhere close to $60k.

It's like they just milk the brand name for all it's worth these days. And what's with all of a sudden charging $550 for metallic paint? I can understand paying more for a tri-coat, but paying an extra $550 for simple metallic paint that's been around for decades? Christ almighty, the only colors that are free now are black and white.

I agree 100%. After two 3 series, a 5 series, and an M3, I left the brand due to excessive pricing and cost of repairs. I bought a Subaru STi for $15-20K less than a AWD 335i and am perfectly happy with it.

It would take a LOT for me to go back to a BMW. I think they are severely overrated overall. Not saying they don't have some great cars (M, etc.), but as a whole I think the public just drinks the Kool-aid. Much better cars out there for the same money or substantially less. I'd be looking hard at Infiniti as an alternative to the 3-series.

This is true for all german car manufactures though. Audi doesn't even put air conditioning in the A1 as standard, which is supposed to be a premium small car (it is surely priced premium). I mean Porsche even charges you about 850,- Euro if you want to pick up your car from the factory.

Why are they doing it ? Because they can. If you look at sales there business model seems to be working. I do believe though that they need a pricing model for extras like that to keep the starting price in a more competitive region. Otherwise starting prices would probably be 10k Euro more than they are now.

I agree, but the thing is that it wouldn't be a BMW.
That's why people still buy em, as you said.

Still a nice car though. Wouldn't mind having one myself.

Holy soapbox opinion, batman.
