This was my car yesterday. It was given to us by my wife's grandma and I've been able to insure and register it, although its not been on the road since late 09.

The mechanic had to replace the fuel pump and clean the tank, replace the front disc brakes and cleaned up the rear brakes and replaced fluids so I'm going to the mechanic with $570 later today to drive it for the first time.

He gave it a 10 day inspection extension, so I'll need to go back next Saturday to get it inspected (they do emissions testing through the ecu here, and it needs to be driven to relearn its maps after being sat for so long).

Thanks guys, here's a pic:

Image

I can easily buff off the scrape with my DA, but it makes no difference since aside from the obvious dent, there is also a crease along the scrape.

Luckily though it's not part of the quarter panel, but rather on the rear fender flare which I *think* is a removable/replaceable part, so I'm hoping they just replace the panel rather than try to pull it out, then all I have to worry about is the paint match. Gonna get estimates Saturday.

Took the car into the dealership body shop on Monday morning, got it back looking good as new on Thursday afternoon. They did a truly flawless job; the dent repair is absolutely flawless and undetectable, the panel alignment is flawless (they painted the fender flare off the car and he said it hooks back into the quarter panel in a set position so no adjusting it), they even were able to match the slight, slight bit of orange peel in the factory VW paint, which was really important to me. The paint match is virtually perfect too; truly an undetectable repair, and will not be reported to carfax/autocheck:

Glad that's done and over and fixed, now hopefully we got that out of the way early on and nothing will ever happen to the car again.

Sorry for the horrible quality of these pictures, these come from my 2005 Windows Mobile phone lol, I just never take pictures of it.

Basic 2003 Mexuary Maurder, bought it brand new.

Oh yeah....if you can tell my the state of my engine bay.....and the fact that I have a rollcage.....563whp@6200rpm and 512ftlbs@3200rpm

If I give it the wide open it throttle at anything under 80MPH, the ass end starts sliding out ;)

Silly Europeans, Torque is for Americans! I will admit, I get about 11mpg. But thats ok, I'll never drive a tiny little ***** car ;)

Looks great, does it turn? Us Europeans like cars that can turn quickly, but we love tracks with right hand turns as well as left ;)

You assume that I like nascar, I don't ;)

I like WRC though ;)

Of course it can't turn! Besides? Who wants to turn? Thats just silly :)

( My other two cars are a 2001 Boxster S, and a 2010 Crown Victoria, which is just a normal version of the car I posted, to lazy to take pics ).

I like a car that I can put my foot into it, and go run a 12 second 1/4th mile ;) ( assuming it hooks up, I have not had slicks on it in years. ) And lets be honest, its huge. Has room for 5 people to fit comfortably.

And in a crash, it has a BOF build. I'd hate to be a eurobox on the other side of that crash ;)

Don't get me wrong, I love European cars. And I do love turns. But for me, nothing beats my 600ish ( at the crank ) V8 monster ;)

That engine bay is dead sexy. And the car itself ain't half bad either. Can you post a list of all the mods you've made? How does the transmission hold up to all that torque or did you replace that, too?

Yeah, the SC is a Vortech JT-T, its the 4.6 DOHC Longblock with ported heads. The intercooler is another Vortech Product with a dual pass heat exchanger. Its got 60lb injectors from a GT40. Exahust is kooks long tubes, with a custom borla the rest of the way back, no resonators or cats.

Transmission? yeah, its a built Lentech with a manual or auto transbrake. The rear end is a 31 spline mosler, gearing is 373s in the back.

I love being able to pull up to almost any stock car ( I said almost lol ), and being able to blow its doors off.

I had the stock transmission in it at first, lasted about 3 months lol.

Ha, nah, actually, since moving here, I've grown a fondness for V8s. I've rented the big three muscle cars, the only letdown in each of them being the automatic transmissions. That feeling of being pushed back into your seat even as a driver is pretty awesome and they were good at cornering up in Vermont. The Focus that I was kindly given has been a very big disappointment since driving those, an '01 Camaro (manual) and even the V6 2011 Charger.

I like your style of a crazy powerful car and a nimble sports car, I guess when you want both of those characteristics in the same car, you have to spend crazy money.

Here are some more pics from Malibu/Snake Canyon!! I tried to take some advice from my last post about not taking pics in the shade as much and focusing in more on my target:

What lens are you using? Some of those photos could've done with a shallower depth of field. The one with someone walking and the F150 behind detracted from the car, but otherwise, nice photos.

That is actually my buddy; I was taking pics of both of our cars for an Auto club we are a part of haha.

And I'm using a Tamron 17-50 lens on a Nikon D7000.

I try to shoot on the lowest F-stop I can get while still including what I want to focus on to be in focus. I won't always have the entire car completely in focus if I'm trying to place the attention on a specific area of the car. Giving the background a little bit of natural-looking blur can really give the photo depth, make the focus-area pop, and make the background less busy and distracting.

I really like these shots compared to the first batch, excluding the one where your friend walked into frame. You still have some shots where you're shooting on the shadow-side of the car, but that looks more like it was due to car placement limitations being next to the road like that. The head-on shots of the front-end could have been improved if you used the Rule of Thirds and put the car off to the left-side of the frame and included the bends of the road on the right. There is nothing wrong with having the car dead center in the frame, but using the Rule of Thirds can mix it up and add some setting interest into your shots. Also, don't be afraid to get low when taking shots. Your car is below you, get down to it's height sometimes, just like you did in the 2nd shot.

Look to see if the Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D lens will work with your camera, it should. I think it's the best bang-for-your-buck lens out there. It's a fixed lens, so there's no zoom capability. But the beautiful depth of field it provides, and incredible sharpness it's capable of makes it a must-have for a Nikon shooter. Price for one is around $100. I highly recommend it, I bought mine the day after I picked up my D200 a couple years back.

EDIT: I also wanted to add, that location wasn't the best for taking photos. Its better to have a bigger area, away from traffic and distractions. A place with more room to move around in.

Thanks for the feedback! I have heard good things about that lens and I'm thinking of investing in it. As well as an updated telephoto lens (I still use the kit lens that came with my old D80).

Why do you have a bar in a high-mid 12 second car at best?

The car needs a full detail, but that will have to wait. Here are a few shots from washing it today.
