 Uhh, those cars/engines were DESIGNED around those turbos. The S52 is perfectly fine NA.
Also, I love the RS's!

Bingo. The beauty of many of the BMW I6s is that they're designed to be NA, and they've been tweaked to be great as-is. A good NA BMW I6 is about as smooth an engine as you'll ever drive in midpriced performance car. There's no good reason to mess with success there. Besides, any S5x engine has more than enough power for your average driver, especially when transplanted into a car far smaller/lighter than they were meant for :p

[Having driven basically every I6 iteration of the Z3 (sold in the US), I can attest that everything from the 170hp M52 to the 315hp S54 is a total blast to drive. Small light BMWs with I6s are fine as-is :)]

Pics of the car I just bought: 90 E30 325i with S52 ODB1 converted, chipped, Ground Control Coilovers and 5 lug suspension swap:

It's pretty nutty fast....woot!

And the heart of it:

As for looks, its about a 5 footer. The pics were from the seller, but I want to change out the black kidneys to chrome ones. Hopefully I will buy back my totaled 88 325is and pull some parts from that...

Out of curiosity, what did you pay for it? I'm looking at either starting one from scratch or buying one outright.

I had a turbo on a E38 535i i owned.. crazy power... But in a E30, with that engine... no need.
Beautiful car again!

thanks

Just picked her up Sunday. Absolutely LOVING this car!

2012 VW Golf GTi with sunroof and convenience package, 18" Detroit wheels. The bluetooth audio feature is the best!

My new car has that too, and in a way it's a curse. Even when I don't have my head unit switched to BT, my iPhone plays music on BT. Where that's a problem is when I use Navigon, because all the turn instructions are spoken through the BT connection and not the iPhone speaker, which is a problem if I have the headunit on something else, like FM or the USB connection.

Wish I could turn off BT audio on my iPhone and just enable it when I want to use it. I don't want to disable BT altogether because that also disables the hands-free phone.

Import or build up from an RS? Hmm going from the image title I'd say buildup :) Nice none the less, but I'm biased with my "play" car being similar :)

Yeah, just a normal RS that I've slowly started building. I do love the new cams from Delta.

Yours looks prettier. :)

6 weeks old. Traded in a 325 series, 10 years old with all the problems in the world. That after I spent 6k to fix it.

We traded in my wife's 9 yr. old BMW 330ci. I was tired of $1-2K repair bills. Cost of ownership for BMW is through the roof now. I love the brand, but have given up on it. Audi won't be any better. Great looking cars, but I don't want the expense. Bimmers and Audis were a great idea when I leased cars and got something new every 3 years.

It's a lease, if I'm having problems or not happy with it, I'll trade it in in 3 years.

One thing I know, I love BMWs and owned 3 of them in the past, but I got screwed by a BMW dealership so they'll never see my money again. BMW of America felt sorry for me but couldn't do anything, so I can't trust that company anymore. I spent 6K in one month, the last 2K I was having electrical problems so I took it to the dealership, if you can't trust them who can you trust? They built the damn thing. I spent the money replacing parts that didn't fix my problem, and their excuse was that I needed those parts anyway. That's after taking the car back and forth to the dealership 6 times in one month.
