I just bought the exact same car (minus the optional rear spoiler) in the same color. It's been a huge difference from my previous car which only had front wheel drive, no ABS, or traction control. I didn't want a big CUV so the Crosstrek fit my need perfectly. I don't find it under-powered either - but I will admit I am the slowest driver so I'm not one to push a car anyways. I was always taught to drive like a limo driver: easy on the gas and break. Those are the two hardest times on a car and will wear it out prematurely. Other than a few minor annoyances (the buttons on the key fob are too small, the location of the heated seat buttons is very awkward, and I don't like how the head unit won't scroll the song title with USB Or bluetooth streaming) I really like the car.
Nice, fellow XVer yeh the car is great overall. All cars will have their little "somethings" I think. I agree about the heated seat buttons-- I think everyone who has the car thinks the same. What were they thinking? It's like they were too lazy to run wires up to the console so they just kept it near the seats.
And since we're on annoyances, the dash and console lighting is either too dim or too bright! The settings should have a wider range. And the stock EQ settings for the radio make it sound terrible, but I've changed it via forum posts and now it's doable. Other than those small things, the car is extremely utilitarian and the best jack-of-all-trades car I could find.
