I just bought the exact same car (minus the optional rear spoiler) in the same color. It's been a huge difference from my previous car which only had front wheel drive, no ABS, or traction control. I didn't want a big CUV so the Crosstrek fit my need perfectly. I don't find it under-powered either - but I will admit I am the slowest driver so I'm not one to push a car anyways. I was always taught to drive like a limo driver: easy on the gas and break. Those are the two hardest times on a car and will wear it out prematurely. Other than a few minor annoyances (the buttons on the key fob are too small, the location of the heated seat buttons is very awkward, and I don't like how the head unit won't scroll the song title with USB Or bluetooth streaming) I really like the car.

Nice, fellow XVer :) yeh the car is great overall. All cars will have their little "somethings" I think. I agree about the heated seat buttons-- I think everyone who has the car thinks the same. What were they thinking? It's like they were too lazy to run wires up to the console so they just kept it near the seats.

And since we're on annoyances, the dash and console lighting is either too dim or too bright! The settings should have a wider range. And the stock EQ settings for the radio make it sound terrible, but I've changed it via forum posts and now it's doable. Other than those small things, the car is extremely utilitarian and the best jack-of-all-trades car I could find.

Since you can never have enough photos of BMWs in a picture of your car thread (;)) here is one from yesterday's track school at Laguna Seca. I think this was taken from the outside of turn 5.

It's been rough for me getting back on the road again after my 95 Civic was totaled from multiple car pile up on a freeway. Unfortunately... there was a fatality, but my car wasn't involved in that part of the crash. I'm just thankful I'm alive, and that nobody was hurt when my car collided.

I always thought I would get BMW for my next car, but my old Civic was so dependable and never game me any problems... so I never really looked into replacing it. I loved my old Civic... and it has protected me for 19 years. That's why I decided to replace it with a new 2014 Civic EX-L with black interior and dark grey leather seats.

Interior picture isn't mine, but it's the exact interior I have. Most of the white EX models had beige/camel color interior... which my wife and I didn't like... especially with 2 young boys. So we went for the EX-L to get the darker interior.

The plan is to hand this down to my wife when we decide to get rid of our SUV... then I can plan on getting the car I always wanted... but who knows what the future will bring. I'm just satisfied that I'm still here... and I can enjoy life with my wife and kids.

First, glad you're okay! That means the car ultimately did its job. Second, congrats on your civic. I love Hondas. They run FOREVER

Thanks... I'm very thankful that I'm still here breathing. If my 95 civic wasn't totaled, I'm sure it would have lasted me a lot longer. I know this is a car picture thread, and see a lot of nice looking cars posted here. Please remember to stay alert... and drive safely. Give your kids, wife/husband, family member a hug after you park your car safely on your driveway. You don't know what could happen once you strap your seat belt on, and get on the road. Accidents happen unexpectedly... so please be safe out there.

I´m so jealous of the BMW´s people are posting!
It is not that I can´t afford one, it´s just that here in the north, they are terrible on snow and ice.
(Many will not agree with me, but try convincing my whife :D )

I have driven and owned many rear wheel drive cars over the years, Mercedes T300, Volvo 240, etc, and my heart always jumps a beat when coming up hill into a corner with not enough speed, having to give a little trothle. The tail comes right out.
It´s better in my opinion with over steering when it comes to safety.

I borrowed a MBW 1 series last winter for a couple of weeks, and with 0 degrees C, and icy roads, it was awful. (even with winter studded tires)

But they are in my opinion the best looking affordable cars out there.

This coming from someone that has to drive on snow and ice 4-5 months of the year in Norway.

So what do you drive?

Just finished mounting my iPad mini. It is a temporary fabrication until my exogear exomount arrives (although I have to say it came out decent.)

Music and GPS turn by turn are played via bluetooth to the alpine deck.

Correction: Because a 20 year old honda is still worth more than the cost to replace a water pump, people continue maintaining and repairing them since they're worth fixing. Well, sometimes anyway. I recall getting an oil change at a shop 3 years ago, and this guy with a 2002 Accord being given a "it needs a new transmission but it's probably not worth it" speech.

It's hard to argue to put a new water pump in a car that because the brand doesn't have a reputation for lasting forever, is only worth $600.

I'd be fighting a losing battle if I really went any further on that though, it's my observation that people HATE american brands rather viciously, and a lot of the time they have good reason. Chrysler, for example (and I use the example because I have a lot of experience with them) does absolutely nothing to win customers over. In the past 8 years I've had a Chrysler car and hung out at Mopar forums I've never seen anyone post a "chrysler/service dept really came through and went beyond the call of duty" kind of post. Ever.

When something goes wrong they just shrug and try to rip you the hell off.

Plus you get bummed with every american car. If it's not cool, it's a "lame rental car" and if it is cool, it's a "gangster car that my drug dealer would be driving". Apparently I should drive a bland car that's as exciting as a loaf of bread.

But really, aside from my 2006 hemi blowing a valve seat, and my dad's 88 tempo being a lemon that constantly overheated, we've had tons of american cars and they were all fine, and often more reliable than my friends' "last forever" hondas.

I would like to add however as a fellow Honda owner, that quite often properly maintaining ones vehicle spans out the life of the vehicle. And yes there are some lemons and rare occasions, but those are lemons and rare occasions.

I'll agree with you there. I feel sorry I wrote that bitter a post but sometimes the issue still stands.

Well Honda has a couple of huge challenges down the road. For whatever reason, they didn't put a turbo in the 2015 Acura TLX, but it sounds like a number of turbo VTEC engines will be coming soon. I'm a little concerned the first few will be reliability question marks. Thankfully, I won't be back in the car market for about 5 years.

Washed the ATS last weekend. BMW vs Cadillac. IMHO, the ATS looks better( and of course drives better :) ).
