I went on a little day trip today up to Bay Port, MI (Apple Map).

The car is so nice and comfortable to drive. It's very smooth and quiet, both of which I enjoy a lot. Plus the fuel economy is getting better all the time. The average is up to 25.1 mpg and that's considering a lot of idle time when it was much colder and I was using the remote start every morning. The last tank of fuel gave me 27.7 mpg and I'm loving it compared the the truck I had.

While my first response is to say, 'very nice', and I really do hope that you enjoyed your drive, I do have a query.

Er, might I ask what model and make is it, exactly? My poor eyes seem to have difficulty identifying whatever the badge is that is emblazoned on the grille…..

It's a 2014 Ford Fusion SE. I leased back in February which replaced a 2003 Ford F-150 pickup truck. Here are some other photos I took when I first got it.

Ah, thank you very much for your reply; I couldn't identify what make the car was. I understand that in the past decade or so, that Ford has really improved beyond all recognition and the Focus seems to command a lot of respect.

Now, another question. Does Puma travel with you, or does he stay at home when you take rambles for pleasure in the car?

Puma is too much of a back seat driver and would be ordering SBG around all the time. My bet is that he stays home to preserve SBG's sanity!:p

Yes, I believe Ford has come a long way with their line of cars over the last ten years and they're getting better and nicer all the time. For a while, they didn't have any cars I felt worth buying. Their truck line has always been top notch and that's all I've ever owned before. So this new Fusion is my first ever actual car in my 21 years of driving. Trucks are getting too expensive anymore and the fuel economy isn't the best either. I like trucks, but I don't really need one per se.

My father retired from Ford Motor Co. after 31 years of working for them, which is why I buy Ford - I get a nice discount! :D

Now, as for Puma, he stays at home. Once in a blue moon I might take him to the office with me for a weekend visit to my people, but that's about it. Since I so seldom take him anywhere, he's very nervous in the car, or out of the apartment for that matter. Plus, when I had the truck, I didn't take day trips or trips at all really since the fuel prices went to the moon and stayed there several years ago. But, now that I have this car, I feel liberated from the bondage of poor fuel economy, hefty fuel bills and am starting to plan trips for this year.

I am planning on a trip up to Traverse City (Apple Map) and the peninsula in the middle of Traverse Bay this summer. I think my little buddy may have to stay behind on that trip too. I'll have my sister stop by and check on him while I am gone for that one.

Not for the first time, you are absolutely right in your reading of this…..

Yes, that had been my sense of Fords; certainly, for quite a while, they were not rated highly in Europe (not since the 60s and 70s), until the past decade, and I suspect that the Fusion, which is very highly regarded, and highly spoken of by owners, has helped rescue the brand in Europe.

Well, re Puma, he does't know what he is missing. A pity he doesn't get to travel, but there you are. Actually, I know several families with motoring cats or dogs, and these mobile animals thrill to the joy of travel, regarding the car as a perfectly natural territorial extension of the house or flat where they normally spend most of their time.

When I do take him with me, he sits on my lap or on my shoulders, behind my neck. He cries a lot and after a little while will stand up, on my lap, and look out the side window. None of which is particularly safe for driving!

I have a pet carrier now, but I would feel so bad keeping him caged up in that thing.

I would like to take him with me, but I am concerned about the, umm, feline restroom situation. Never before traveling long distances with a cat before, I don't know how to tackle his needs for restroom breaks while en route and when I get to the destination, like a hotel or cabin.

Not my cup of tea at all. BMW kind of cornered the market on the halo/angel eye lights, and that is where I feel that they belong.

That being said, this is another option, which is MUCH cheaper.

Thanks for the link. I may consider clear film to protect the headlamps covers and fog lamps. I like the Halo look on the late model Mustangs because it gives it a menacing front end look especially with the smoked version, IMO.

agh almost bought one of those in that exact color and with the two extra doors...needed the extra storage, and stupid me didn't get it with the 6 speed of course, oh well, yours definitely looks great with the springs, what kind did you get and hows the handling with them?
Sorry I missed your question. I have the VW Driver Gear springs. Handling is a little better. Ride comfort is pretty much the same.

2006 Toyota Matrix Base, nothing fancy, but it gets from Point A to Point B while being a fun little car to drive, all while carrying my DJ equipment. My parents gave it to me when they got a new car, I've only just got my permit, so I can't drive it away without them yet.
