Hey! I used to drive a FIAT Cinqucento the same as that and it was a great little car in town. Unfortunately it didn't do too well when I took it to France and hit the motorway, it seemed to be unable to suck enough petrol to keep going and every time it reached 60mph it would cut out and coast down to around 30mph before fireing again. We turned round and picked up my mum's Clio.
The FIAT is a great town car though.
Never had these problems... I did a lot of travelling with this car before the kids were there. It makes 90mph on the highway (but is relatively loud then). A comfortable travelling speed is around 75mph getting 39mpg. Even when going full speed I always get at least 30mpg.

Once we went from Berlin -> Paris -> Normandie -> Berlin with this car without any problems.

You must've had a tail wind as the cars quoted top speed was only 87mph!
Nope! No tail wind! The car is going always 90mph when the engine is warm and the conditions are perfect. Got a good one I guess. ;) Bought it new back then and always took care of it. It is 9 years old now and people always can't believe that it still looks that good for it's age.

Downhill I once had it up to 100mph... but not for long because I didn't want to kill the engine...

Even an S gets a bit tame after a while...

Hehe, sorry. I've had the Mini 4 years now and am a little bored, plus mine is just the Cooper, not the S as you have. I'm a bloke, I need more POWAR!!!! :D
You know an S is all very well, but even after a couple of years in that you STILL NEED MORE POWAAAARRR!!! I want to soup this baby up a bit but the insurance premiums make me giddy... I just bought a house...

<turns pockets inside out>
<crumpled bus ticket drifts to the ground>
<shrugs and wanders off wondering how much it would be to paint his brake calipers red. at least it would look quicker...>

Well, there's always the JCW :p I love my mini, it stands its ground against the other motors, though it has to sit outside on the drive, poor thing :( 220BHP if I remember correctly, not too shabby for something so tiny.

It has the JCW wheels on it now too, which I love. The only pic I have with those, though, is with the top up - and I think it's fair to say the Mini convertable only comes into its own when it's topless (like some other things in life...)!

True true, there is no good side, I should of said extreme side
I'm glad you say that. There is too much socialism in the world (ie. any). In the USA too. And especially in all the "developing" countries, where the government steals and murders more randomly than in the western countries.

I feel pretty poor compared to some of you folks! Nice cars around here.

Here's mine. 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix, it had major problems for over a year. We spent maybe 3K on it total in trying to fix it (replaced nearly everything) only to find it was one spark plug.

OMG I would be SO mad. At least it runs now right?

FYI, you can buy a car for 3K ;) :p

Don't worry, us Americans tend to have the worst taste when it comes to cars. :p The only beautiful american cars are the Ford GT and the new Corvette.

Amen, but I'm starting to worry about the Europeans' taste over at the BMW hq as well.

The hell? Ford GT and new Corvette the only beautiful cars? America has a history of great looking cars. Don't speak for me or anyone else other than yourself ;)

Can anyone here remember the Vector ( I think that's what it was called)?

Now they were ugly cars from the 80s!!

But some people did try their hardest to improve the look:
