American cars are so ugly (apart from the Dodge viper and the Corvette). As well as this, don't any of you have any cares that theclimate is changing because of co2 emissions??? At least get a fuel economic car.

I know some Americans do not need to listen but the majority do

There is conflicting and perhaps even non-existent evidence that the co2 emissions are harming the climate. Read this interview:

But as for using less gas, we should do all we can to conserve. But this does not mean driving a small car that doesn't meet our tastes or needs. It does mean that some very rich people need to be developing alternate fuel sources that are plentiful, not harmful, and inexpensive until a better solution to the automobile is perfected. It will take big money to fight the power of big oil and gas and auto companies whose financial stake is driven into our present system of consumption.

Hey guys, I just recieved an Infinity G35 coup. Ill post pictures later, but i want to ask you guys something. I have always wanted to put the apple sticker on the car. At the momment I don't know if I should put it on the bottom right or the top left of the rear window. what do you guys think? Oh, i should menion that it has a wing, or spoiler...tail?...whatever it's called.

Also, I've had a bumber sticker that says something along the lines of "It will be a great day when our school recieve all the money they need and the air force has to hold a bake sale to buy a bomber."

Now I wasnt expecting to get such a nice car, so at the momment I don't want to "deface" it with a bumber sticker, aside from the apple. Should I just forget my worries and put the sticker on?

Well, you could go for an Apple 'slicker', the kind that goes on the interior of the back window, with the 'front' side facing out, and can easily be removed.

As for what the thing on the back is called? It's a spoiler if air doesn't flow under it, a wing if it does. (So the big things raised three feet over the top are technically 'ugly', er... 'wings', while the little ones that just jut up from the rear deck are 'spoilers'.) I also find it funny when you see huge wings on front wheel drive vehicles. You know that makes your car have WORSE performance, right? You need a FRONT spoiler on a front wheel drive car! (Just as bad as oversize wheels/tires only on the rear on a front wheel drive.)

As for my cars? Well, right now we're in the process of selling our '99 Hyundai Accent and our '94 Ford Explorer because we got a '98 Subaru Forester to replace both. We also have an '04 Toyota Prius. Sorry, my sports car days are over. (Unless I win the lottery.) In the past, I have owned a '69 Alfa Romeo Spider (was halfway through rebuilding it when I got tired and gave up. I was undriveable when I got it, and just barely driveable when I got rid of it,) and a 1994 Ford Escort GT, (a truly decieving little beast. More power than the stock '94 Mustang thanks to its Mazda engine,) that died on the freeway in college.

Oh I see, I didn't know that there was a difference. Well, its a spoiler by the way you explain it. The salesman said the car was rear wheel drive. But I have never been much of a car person. So what effect would the spoiler have on a rear wheel drive?

Thanks for the explination. Now i know...And knowing is half the battle. [/corny line]

I'm amazed anyone can buy a car without knowing whether it's FWD/RWD/AWD without checking with a salesman. The briefest of test drives should tell you that.

Basically the rear spoiler or wing exerts pressure when air passes over it a speed over the rear of the car pushing the tyres into the road for better traction. Wings/spoilers do not give a higher top speed but in fact lower it due to drag. Some very high performance cars have variable aerodynamics where a spoiler or wing is moved into optimum position for stability at speed when the car hits a certain speed and lowers when not needed at slower speeds.

Only in your opinion.

If somebody gave me a free one of those, I would sell it, buy a nice luxury sedan, then buy a much faster and sexier highly modded Camaro, then use the rest of the money to pay for college, buy a new computer, pay for gas for both cars for a year, and invest in the stock market.

LMAO!!!

Ok, good luck with that.

Why, they're quite common.

I'd say 30 grand would get me a nicely restored Camaro that runs 9 second quarter miles. Look up the quarter mile for that ugly overpriced yellow thing and you'll be sorely dissapointed.

The only other car I would want in my garage next to that Camaro would be a 2006 SAAB 9-5 Aero. So thats about anohter 40 grand. So like 70 grand for two cars that I would much rather have than that yellow enzo.

You lexus drivers do realize your driving Toyota avalons right. Just so long as you're aware of that.

Hmm...not totally convinced there, http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=3&article_id=627&page_number=5

"Zero to 60 mph: 3.3 seconds.

Quarter-mile run: 11.1 sec. at 133.0 mph.

Unbelievable.

The Enzo has just recorded the best Road & Track acceleration run ever for a road car"

Many, many souped up cars that are built for drag racing do not do 9 second quarter miles. You have to build a Super Stock to do it most likely, at which point is it really a "car" anymore? (or just a drag racer)

Good luck cornering on that 9-second Camaro of yours. The quarter, a race car does not make.

The Enzo is the one of the ugliest damn cars I've ever seen.

Give me a C6 Z06 and just ship it direct to Lingenfelter and let them play. Good luck touching it with.....pert near anything...

FWIW, I drive an '06 CTS-V. I'll post pics later.

Are you trying to say you don't believe theres plenty Camaros that would murder that Enzo in the quarter mile? 11.1 second quarter mile is really fast, but theres lots and lots of cars that can easily top that. Even (pleh) Civics. Pick up any issue of SuperStreet magazine and you'll find no Enzos.

Also, I don't care about cornering in a Camaro. A Camaro is for looks and power at a cheap price. I owned a Camaro, and I am well aware of how badly it handled. But I still loved it. If I could have both my old Camaro and my current SAAB, I would. But since I can't, I picked the car that is more driveable.

I also didn't say anything about racing. Just raw power, or refined luxury. Those are my two ideal car types. I don't care for Corvettes either. Too "european" looking. I like my muscle cars to be American and brawny.

And whoever owns that Buick LeSabre, you obviously have never driven a BMW or Mercedes or Volvo or SAAB or Infinity or Lexus.... or any other car that is better. Clearly you've never even seen a current Buick Lacrosse or Lucerne. These have to be the best Buicks Buick has made in the last 20 years.... because they dont look like (or drive like) your LeSabre!

Have you heard the rumors about the upcoming 2008 Corvette SS? Chevy has confirmed that it will be coming out, but specifics aren't known yet. Most are thinking 600+ horsepower. It's going to be one hard to beat car, at any price, that's for sure.

I have. Rumors out about the LS7 is that they are just scratching the surface. I was reading the other day that tuners are figuring to get 30-40HP out of a new tune and some headers... Pretty damn impressive. (I'm hoping that the rumors are true about putting an LS7 in a V before the body redesign cause if they do, I'm upgrading!)

And, which european car does the c6 vette look like? Yeah, it doesn't have pop-up headlights, but the round tail lights are back and looking fantastic.

But, calling a Saab refined? Really... Okay....

I'll safely assume you've never been in a SAAB, especially a recent one.

EDIT: The 9-2 Subaru doesn't count. It is 100% unrefined WRX and thankfully is slated for cancellation due to horrendous sales.

Also due to the sale of the stock GM had in Subaru. But, don't be surprised to see the 9-2 nameplate brought back that is 100% Saab. As for the Corvette Sting Ray( or SS, but I prefer Sting Ray), they already confirmed 600+ HP. They just need a way to get it to the ground. Rumors are a Supercharged LS7 or an all new LS9 powerplant. Let me say this. With a rumored price of $100K and with 600+ ponies, I don't know why when someone is looking at a car in the $100K + price range for pure performance, they would not choose the Vette Sting Ray.

This is true. I doubt it though the 9-3 is already small enough.

BTW, it was slated for cancellation before GM sold Subaru to Toyota... due to absolutley horrendous sales. That car didn't fool anybody.

Please say thats a STS. Those older STSs are hot.
Nah its the regular SLS. Only 275 as opposed to 300 hp. From what I hear the ride is smoother though so I'm ok with it. Its still pretty fast. I've left several 'pimped' eclipses and civics in the dust :D They get mad they just got beat by a 'grandma' car.
