Here's mine... my parents bought it for me back in August. I turn 16 on the 24th of this month :). Anyway, it's a 1999 V8 Firebird with a t-roof (semi-convertible), had 18k miles on it. It has XM and everything. I like it... the only thing that I was disappointed about was that it wasn't fully-convertible. Oh well... you win some, you lose some.

I'll be able to drive it on my own in July, thank God.

dont take this the wrong way, but its true...
to much power for not enough experienced driver. that thing wont last long.

OMG!!! My first car is a 1.2l Vauxhall (Opel) Corsa!! How much will insurance be on that thing??

The USA is odd when it comes to cars and young drivers. Plenty of young people drive cars with HUGE V8s, like most American cars however, that Firebird will go like a bat out of hell in a straight line, but won't stand a chance against your corsa in the bends . Its not quite the same as a high performance European car. And those Pontiacs aren't that expensive either.

Insurance is VERY expensive here especially if you are a younger driver! I think they are/or have banned under 25's owning or driving a V8 car I'm not sure which one. My new one is a V4 again but I don't mind! It looks pretty anyway :D

I know what you mean by V4 but there is no V4 engine...maybe you're talking about an inline 4 or 4 cylinder engine?

My first car is a 3.0L V6 coupe.. and the insurance is around $140/month for me.. with ABS discount, good student discount, drivers school discount, etc. I'm 17 by the way, and not listed as the primary driver..

of course thats what he meant. people think there's a sequence v6, v8, v12, so why not v4. everything above 5 cylinder is v, i think.

That's of course before GM started to test their cars around Nurburgring. That started with the CTS. Of course Hammond almost died seeing the CTS go around a corner without problem! :p The Z06 went around Nurburgring, the HHR SS is currently going around it. Looks like GM got the message that their cars( besides Opels/Vauhauls) can't go around a corner.

And pretty much anything over 6 cylinder is in V or W form. The engine would be too long if it was an inline.

Yes, you sir are on crack! :p I think you mean the W10.

And yes I saw the Vert Camaro. Gorgeous. Can't wait to see the 2008 CTS tomorrow/today( depending on what time zone you're in. 12:12 AM Monday here). And already happy that my 2007 Saturn Aura is North America Car of the Year! :D

how do you feel about that Toyota engine that gets ~96 miles per gallon?

and Congrats on owning the Car of the year :)

How about that Chevy Volt? Giving you 150 MPG using E85 and roughly 525 MPG using regular gas. Beat that Toyota! :p

Talking about Toyota, how about that new Tundra! Where panel gaps means you're rugged! Sorry, but Toyota's PR made me crack up when I read that part. Not to mention it looks like 3 groups developed the truck. One team worked on the front, another worked on the side and another worked on the back. Then smashed them together and you have the new Toyota Tundra. With its ugly looks and rugged panel gaps. I mean in their respective views the truck looks decent. But, when you mix two of the views together, it just looks unproportional( god I can't spell tonight and spell checker isn't giving me anything lol ) and ugly.

Does the price of it really matter? The model we bought was around $17k. Although it wasn't expensive or anything, it certainly was a bit of a sacrifice for my dad.

On a side note (and a bit of a random note, at that)... I was talking to some friends today about my car and mentioned that I would have rather had a Firebird convertible as opposed to the T-roof. Then they all agreed that convertibles are for girls, homosexuals and old men... not for young, straight guys. Sounded a it stereotypical to me. True?

I dont think he was meaning it to say oh look that car doesn't mean anything because they aren't that expensive. I think he was trying to say that insurance is not gonna be some out of the world price like a poster was saying. Since the car isn't 80 grand plus a huge v8 then the insurance isn't going to be great but it isn't going to be as bad as the poster made it seem.

Heres my car
Lexus LS400 1995

The other is for work. (though ive never actually gotten to drive it and its not mine, but I thought I'd share)

my mom's got the same car, still going strong almost 200,000 miles on it and it still rides like the day we drove off from the dealership. I can't wait to order the 460 for her:D
