You're joking, right?

Right?

I drove that Diablo for about 15 miles and my impressions were that of an extremely well planted car. The handling was very much not horrible.

'Specially now that Audi own them, they can make decently build cars now, or so you think.

I'm about to get my first car in about 2 weeks time, an MG F:

I'm still on the lookout for one- they're quite cheap at the moment and they drive very nicely.

Should be a fun little car. A word of advice: some of the older (first gen models) are notoriously unreliable. I think if I were in the market for a small sports car my first choice would be a Mazda MX-5 (Miata for the Americans). Its widely regarded as the best car in its class.

Please post some pics once you've purchased!

I did some off-roading today and here are a few pics. I went with two of my friends so those are the other people. Additionally, I got my "centre" :))) locking differential working and I used my 4wd low for the first time. Using the CDL and the 4wd low made for amazing power and I never lost traction. It was amazing and my friends were impressed.

I don't want to start an argument, just voicing my opinion:

My god, that's an ugly car.

everybody knows that lambo doesn't really make very good cars. they ridiculous, with wings and things sprouting every which way, but handling is horrible and they're all around crappy. not ferrari on the other hand....

How could a car that can go 200 mph have bad handling? I'm sure it handles better than 99% of the cars on the road.

I will admit it not the most beautiful car on the road, but it is an acquired taste.

Hahaha thats the only response I can use. But i must say Land Rovers are pretty unique in their styling aside from that ghastly Freelander that looked like a ford escape or something (my mom called it the Freeloader).

Oh I hate the MK1 Freelander! MK2 looks nicer, like a baby Range Rover:) Still, if I wanted a 4X4, I'd get a Hilux. £19K for the top model is great!

It's all about relativity. The Diablo may handle better than 99% of the cars on the road, but Ferraris make the Diablo feel unstable on a track. But this isn't from experience. :p I just watch a lot of Top Gear and take their word for it as they drive supercars all the time. They say it all the time. Lamborghini for the rich (pricks) who just want to look good. Ferrari for those who want a car that really performs.

top gear guys are some of the most biased car people in da world! they absolutely hate american cars, and they favor the aston martin and mini coopers over basically any other car.

They aren't biased. Most american cars are crap when it comes to all around performance. Jeremy Clarkson bought a brand new Ford GT. How is that biased? And they gave the current gen corvette a pretty good review. They favor the aston martin because they are British and the mini coopers are great cars. They handle like they are on rails.

Ferrari and Lamborghini don't really compete. In other words, Ferrari doesn't make a V12 mid-engine car at that price point any more and haven't for quite a while. Also, Ferrari doesn't make any all wheel drive cars, and all Lambos are AWD these days.

Regardless, I would guess a huge majority of Ferraris and Lamborghinis never see a track.

The Gallardo is a V10. The F430 is a V8. Both are very close in price.

Scenario time:

There are 2 filthy rich guys looking to buy a car. One guy is a true car enthusiast who enjoys taking a car to the track on weekends. The other just wants a really cool supercar. They are both deciding between the Lamborghini Gallardo and Ferrari F430. Both cars are in a similar price range. The Lamborghinis has the larger motor and more power. Who buys what?

The enthusiast will buy the F430 and the other guy will most likely go for the Gallardo. But who am I to talk? My car is less than 40k. :p

jeremy clarkson said the corvette was cheaply made, and too american. he bought a ford gt because its one of the few supercars he can afford. dont pretend jeremy clarkson doesn't loathe everything american simply because he can.

They pan the Z06's suspension for being firm while Ferrari's and Lambo's have a similar ride probably( I never rode in one, so I can't really say). Plus, you don't find it odd whenever a comparison involves a British car, it some how wins? Top Gear is nothing, but entertainment. I wouldn't really take their reviews seriously. Except for the stig part. :p

EXACTLY. he has got this superiority thing about him. He thinks that because he is British, he's simply better, and that americans are pigs. He can't stand the notion that the richest super-power the world has ever seen, doesn't drink tea 10 times a day.

I don't watch top gear (they annoy me too much)... but in this case they're right. I can't speak for the Lambo, but the Z06 is a whole lot stiffer then the Ferraris I've ridden in.

The fact that we're even comparing a Corvette to a Ferrari is amazing. I wouldn't expect the corvette, which costs a third as much as the F430, to handle as well as the Ferrari and ride as well. Cost cutting has to result in compromises somewhere.

Anyway... since this is supposed to be a picture thread here's the back of my daily driver:

Then I stand corrected then. Anyway, if you want a serious review, watch Fifth Gear. Actually, thinking back to it, Fifth Gear also mentioned the Z06's stiff suspension. I only watch Top Gear because it is entertaining. Nothing more. Oh and another source of bias( or it might be plain out stupidity then bias) was when they did the dyno of the GT500. Stating it had 447 HP instead. Any car person and any credible car magazine/show knows that power at the wheels is less then the power made at the crank.

There's a lot he, and others, dislike about american stuff, but don't be fooled by his mouthing off, there's plenty he likes too. Clarkson is an arse, he knows his stuff, but he knows too, and makes his money from, that being an arse on TV is what he's good at. So good in fact that he could afford any of the supercars available, and that means he bought the GT for similar reason he bought his Ferrari and his Lambo etc., 'cause he liked them and he could afford to, easily.

Yes it is entertainment, and no it probably shouldn't be taken too seriously, but I don't think British cars always win the comparisons, I recall they were all raving about the Corvette until they used it on the highway, at which point it's flaws surfaced. Of course the Corvette wasn't engineer to use British roads like an Aston or Porsche are so of course it'll lose. Same cars tested by a US tester in California might show a different preference, I don't think I'll ever buy a car based on what someone else thought of it.

Ditched the old BMW a few weeks ago and bought this; I'm loving it. Honda's made some impressive strides in driving dynamics recently, and I don't really miss my BMW (I especially don't miss all the warning lights and high repair bills).

I took these pictures at a relative's house (my camera's busted), and the lighting's a little weird through the trees.

Well, I come back from vacation only to find out that the ignition of my car is broken. Twice before the key would not turn inside of the lock cylinder in the ignition, and eventually with some finagling it would work. Well, apparently my parents decided to use my car, they went somewhere, couldn't get it started, and now its messed up every like 10 times you use the key.

$300-$400 for a new ignition, plus the annoyance of the new ignition not using the old key thus making the door locks and locking gas tank key holes incompatible with the ignition key.
