i've never liked the kind of asian "racer" cars like the honda prelude, some civics etc. however, i've grown to like those Subarus. They seem to have a little more... class. Nice car.
You must not get around enough. ;) More than just a handful of scoobie drivers are obnoxious as are their cars. (No offense Iamtherealwoody.) Plus, something about the AWD seems to say to quite a few of the younger drivers that they can be just like Initial D on the mountain highways 'round here. Definitely known quite a few folks personally who've crashed their Imprezas doing just that.

just sayin' i like the way THAT one looked. on a whole, i don't like the people who drive those kinds of cars either.

Ah, that specific car? Yes, I'd agree that Iamtherealwoody was smart in keeping it quite clean. Me likey. (But I still think it's ricey-looking. Even totally stock.)

ricey :p thats a good word.
I would never purchase any asian racing car. I'm just giving him props for not adding the HUGE muffler out the back, and the fake carbon fiber hood.

I always chuckle when a hear what I think is a lawn-mower driving down the road and I look in my rear-view mirror only to see a Civic with one of those god-awful race kits on it.

Cars I like however include the Mini S as well as the GTI

I'll take an SRT/10 anyday however. :p
A 4 door truck that does 0-60 in around 5 seconds= sexx0r

Here's my baby:

Thanks for the comments. And yes its all stock, I would smack my self, (as would my girlfriend) if my car looked like it was from "Fast and the Furious". I dont see subarus as boy racer cars although there are quite a few boy racers who drive around Miami with them. I ignore them, and all the Neon SRT-4's.

By the way WRX's are boxer engines, like porche, and they have a very distinct sound that sounds nothing like a ricer.

And I prefer an efficient four cylinder turbo to a guzzling V10 or V8, plus the AWD is the best thing in the world when it rains/snows. You have no idea what traction is until you drive an AWD car. The WRX STi goes 0-60 in less than 5 seconds too.

That exhaust sounds vile. And thats an after market exhaust so I don't think thats a very "distinct" original sound. I find it rather loud and annoying.

So yea, I took my brush guard off to refinish it. It was starting to rust around the welded parts so I thought I would fix it before it got bad. Some of the paint peeled off like potato chips, while other parts were on there pretty good. I found out however, heating up the area with the paint on it turned the flakey plastic like paint to a leather like sheet that can be easily scraped off and then ripped off, relatively speaking that is. I can honestly say I don't like my car without it.

Thats with most of the paint scraped off in the center portion. Some parts are fine, but other parts are kinda badly rusted. Hopefully with some special paint I can get some more life out of this baby. A new one costs $500 and I'd rather not waste my money on that. Its a fun project, I take pride in how much I take care of this car doing a lot of the work myself.

SPT, Subaru Performance Tuning isnt aftermarket. Its a Subaru of America performance division similar to STi, Subaru Technica International in Japan. Granted its not the exact muffler that the car came with.

This one is stock, you might fancy it more. You might not think its the best sound ever, but it beats the hell outta the honda.

Efficient four cylinder? Ha..What kind of gas mileage are you averaging? the 2007 STi is rated at 19/24.

A turbo pretty much kills any efficiency a four cylinder might have ;)

AWD creates a false sense of security, and I find it annoying that Subaru advertises it as a "safety" feature. While it can help in some situations it does not make you invincible. I run group two at Summit Point and I have seen plenty of people stuff their Evos or AWD Subies into walls thinking that their car is superior and it enhances their driving skill. I can assure you it does not make you an instant hero behind the wheel.

I have heard plenty of ricey sounding Subarus. Just because it is a flat four doesn't mean it is automatically not ricey.

Im averaging 50/50 Highway City at 25 mpg. I think that pretty damn good for a 227hp car that does 0-60 in 5.9 sec and 1/4 mile in 14.3

Everyone I know who has a WRX or STI complains about the horrible gas mileage. Also, your vehicle might run 0-60 in 5.9 but it falls flat on its face after that, AWD helps the launch. Have you ever noticed how low the trap speed is for the WRX? 14.3 @ 92-94mph. Many cars with less horsepower will run away from them on a straight.

Now that I have that out of the way, are you planning on doing anything to it? I think I can hear Vishnu calling your name! :)

i may not have a picture, but recently my older sister loaned me her jeep rubicon while she visits our mom on the east coast. i havent had a car since ive gone to college and since im coming up on the 3rd year i really missing being behind the wheel. i have it for 2 weeks, but i need to find some off roading places in northern cal before she gets back. gotta break it in you know

Im a poor college student, I have about a year and a half left at University of Florida for Electrical Engineering. I can totally see me ditchin the WRX in the future for, say a Tesla Roadster.

I know it's contradictory, but Im passionate about electric cars and environmental issues, hence my major and career path. Unluckily, my car is not worth very much $ (it has 62k miles, but a new engine, loooong story) so i can't sell it and get a more efficient, equally nice car.

Please don't sell your WRX for a Prius. They are the epitome of uncool

THats one thing I dont really get. Cause you can get a diesel that gets nearly the same MPG and is much faster/cooler. Ill take an audi/mercedes/MINI/Subaru Flat 4 diesel over a prius anyday.
there are a lot of diesels that are MUCH cooler and actually get better milage.

A pic of Supercompu2, Plymouthbreezer, and me.

Plymouthbreezer is going to make a thread about our trip. Basically Supercompu2 and Plymouthbreezer are friends and live in the the same city. My dad works in the city they live in and I was going to be there, and they suggest I meet up with them.
