I gave the ol' Prado a fake tan. Okay, so she's no true beige Land Rover, but isn't she purdy?...

LCs rock my socks. My brothers got a '01 Land Rover and it's been stuck in some tight spots my LC just drifted through
I'm thinking about an SR5

Mate, I couldn't agree with you more. I think I mentioned it in the reliablity thread, but you'd be insane to take anything but a LandCruiser or a Patrol outback in Australia. I am insane, but I still took the LandCruiser. It had thirty dozen bottles of wine in the back and it got through some mad stuff.

It good to see that you actually get your SUV a little dirty there.

Your Toyota in America doesn't exist, but the closest thing is a Lexus GX470 which looks almost exactly like yours and I think its based on the Toyota 4Runner, which is a pretty good off road car. I think I like yours more than the 4Runner.

You are right though, anyone that would take a Land Rover off the beaten path for a long trip is kinda stupid based on their reliability. Especially all the Range Rovers, Discoveries, and LR3's with Air Suspension- if that stupid system breaks when you're out there you're stuck.

My dad used to have a mint condition beige 196x Series IIa Land Rover. He sold it to his friend for very little (less than $500) like 25 years ago. Today in mint condition it would be worth at least $10,000, the price new was like $2200. They have a Series I at the dealer in mint condition for $20,000  (its been sitting there for sale for like 2 years haha)

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: sexxxxxxxxxxxxx

That's what I was thinking... Couldn't have said it better... Well except then I cried since it'll be a good while before I can afford one of those puppies.

Probably not till am 60-80 and then I wonder to myself would I really want one then?

to clarify, I'm pretty sure the Lexus 470 is the Land Cruiser. When Toyota intropduced the Sequoia to compete with the 7-seater American SUV's, they had no room for two full-sized SUV's under the Toyota brand. The Lexus and the LC had been twins for several years through the late 90's, but the LC brand was dropped altogether when the Sequoia came out, leaving just the Lexus.

The LC is most similar to the LX not the GX... and also, Toyota DEFIANTLY still makes Land Cruisers.

To clarify the point that I was making...

Land Cruisers in Europe are not like the ones in America, though there are full size "real" Land Cruisers around called Land Cruiser "Amazons". Most are called Land Cruiser "Prados" which are available in 2 and 4 doors.

Lexus LX470 = US Full Size Land Cruiser (Amazon)

Euro Land Cruiser "Prado" = Lexus GX470 (4 Runner Based)

We're not even talking about the Sequoia, which is just a Tundra turned into an SUV.

And are you saying that the Land Cruiser no longer exists? Are you insane? First off, Land Cruisers are probably the most one of the most popular $60,000 luxury SUV's on the market because of their build quality, heritage, and reliability. The Sequoia is not nearly as luxurious but IMO it makes the Land Cruiser look overpriced. Additionally, check out the resale values for Land Cruisers, a 10 year old one with a 150k probably costs around $10,000, not to mention look at ones that are just a few years old. The Land Cruiser also has a too of a name strong name. Do you think the name "Range Rover" is going anywhere anytime soon? Do you think the name "iPod" is going anywhere soon. If they were going to delete the Land Cruiser they would have just named the Sequoia the "Land Crusier".

The LandCruiser Prado I drove through a pig pen doesn't have a Lexus equivalent. It is the model before that shown in ErikCLDR's pictures. To the best of my knowledge, it wasn't based on the 4Runner unless the Americans' 4Runner is different to ours. :)

thanks for the clarification guys. I guess I'm not too up-to-date on the non-US variations.

anyway, I like me a 40-series LandCruiser.

Thats a beauty you have there.

To Mad Jew, all the american reviews say that Lexus GX is based on the Toyota 4Runner. I dunno if that means that the 4Runner is based off of the Prado and they don' t know that or what. The LC Prado I think is better looking than the new 4Runners.

Anyways, they probably just have the same frame and maybe gas engines and other little things. LC Prado compared to the GX470- the lexus will have standard leather, air suspension, heated seats, and all those goodies like that. In America, the only real difference between a stock LC "Amazon" and the stock Lexus LX740 is that the Lexus has air suspension and navigation and costs $10,000 more. The lexus does have more advanced options though like this silly nightvision thing.

cars!!

Well......I had a Seat Ibiza, but that got written off, and ended up being towed away, looking like the left pic.

I am replacing it with my new dive bus, a Fiat Croma. Which looks like the right pic.

I think that's only the new one, not the older one I've been driving. :)

Croma over Bravo

Cool..But why not wait for the new Bravo?

Ah...that's easy. My GF works for Fiat and is getting me a £17,000 Croma for £7500. It's an ex demo model with low mileage and all the mod cons (inc. cruise control, which is a new must for me after all the driving I do for diving). The deal was such a good one it was a no brainer really.....plus I really like the Croma.
