Not to be a defender of the company, but one must realize that there is a natural stretch to this film. I finished putting wrapsol on my 13 inch air...

The bottom piece first. When i was finished, it left about 1 mm non-covered margin along the edges. So I actually lifted the thing (carefully) and reapplied, this time with little more stretch (using the included squeeze). I was able to get much better coverage that way.

Now that I knew how to do this, the top went on much easily. Start in one corner and go slowly. You will have to be persistent to get good coverage. For example, if it overhangs (too much stretch), lift up and push down with less lateral force. Vice versa for "too short" coverage.

That way, I was able to cover the top perfectly.... I like the feel much better than my old bestskinsever coverage of my MBP. Second of all, bestskinsever would not give me a replacement when all the edges started lifting even though I used the mbp with much care... Wrapsol claims lifetime warranty....

I must concur. Wrapsol has done a good job in factoring the stretch in the design. This is a very forgiving kit which can produce a near edge to edge coverage easily if you are aware of the stretch properties. I have seen much worse kits from other companies in the past.

This kind of product needs to be stretched in a correct way in order to cover the curves properly. It is one of the core principles in covering a compound curve.

One more installation tip, if you intend to put the Air in a tight sleeve, allow extra time for the film to dry properly. Maybe a day or two. Or you may get film moved up when you slide in and out of the sleeve.

So with all these pretty poor reviews of Wrapsol, what's the best alternative in terms of fitment and protection?

-Bodyguardz
-Bestskinsever
-Other?

I didn't list Zagg, because I absolutely hated their film on my phone.

I'd still go with Wrapsol. It has the nicest appearance and the customer service has been great. If you do have a problem, they'll fix it. I think they licked the fit issues with the 13" lid piece. Again, my 11" wrapsol fit great. The 13" could be just a couple of mm shorter in height and it would be better IMO.

Same here, I would still go with Wrapsol for the same reason and another reason as follows:

Bodyguardz and Bestskinever do not have the matte finish on the film. The adhesive on the Wrapsol is also more manageable and controllable.

The only good thing about Bestskinever on 11" MBA by judging from the info on their web site is there are cutouts for the screws on the bottom piece. However, as Wrapsol previously stated, you will get a replacement film when the need to open up the bottom piece arises.

Also there is no really bad review for the Wrapsol product for MBA. Installation specific problems happen on all brands. Fitting issue is another thing but Wrapsol already made the improvements and admitted it and so it is already good enough..

After reading your post, I think it is very possible that I would have gotten a better fit on the lid piece had I applied a little more pressure in the left and right direction. I think that may have shortened the height a bit. I started swiping up/down and then did left/right maybe do it the other way and put a little more pressure.

Many companies say things, but what happens when it comes time to replace the film? Will there really be no hassle? Cost? Shipping?

Judging by all the responses here with just their initial purchase and installation, it seems like Wrapsol didn't do much of a job attending to their customers. Which is why I ask, best alternative?

No comment about their customer service as I find it great so far.

For best alternatives, really if you want a matte finish, no choices have been found.

Have you seen one Wrapsol install in person? Try it out and you know what I mean. The finish is not comparable to the competitors.

About the cost and shipping for warranty, it is true it may cost something and it is yet to find out..

I've had a wrapsol on my 13" MBP since day 1 and I have to say it's extremely scratch resistant. I also like the "feel" better than BSE or Zagg.

I do like the wrapsol film.

Have it on my ipad and 13" air.

The only thing besides the fit that I have noticed was a slight yellowing of the film over time. It's noticeable on my ipad.

Anyone else notice this?

How long have you had it on the ipad? I haven't noticed any yellowing on my MBP and I've have it roughly a year or so?

i really wanted to get the wrapsol but the fedex cost is deterring me because well it costs nearly as much to buy the wrapsol as to ship it to Singapore

So I got the Wrapsol for my 11 MBA today, and one of the spray bottles inside broke during shipping - soaking one side of the box and ruining the skin. I was really wanting to get this applied immediately as I've been treating my MBA with kid gloves trying to avoid getting any kind of scratch on it.

Heading out of town for Xmas next week too. Ugh. :(

I was a little surprised at the use of glass spray containers. They are quite heavy and probably pretty expensive.

The skin isn't usable at all? You can't even use it temporarily until wrapsol can send a new one?

Good point, I could try that.

Well......no tracking number is much better than the extortionate international Fedex rates. I'd rather take the risk then throw money to Fedex.

+1

not when it costs 20-30 dollars to ship a few pieces of film

When shipping to Canada, please use USPS as the customs fee is a lot more expensive than the film itself.

Regarding the broken glass spray bottles, I had that experience a few times. It makes one side of the box soaked a bit. Luckily there are always two bottles and I can also make one solution by myself.

The culprit is the cap was not turned tightly or maybe the shipping was too rough to the point of shaking the cap off?

By the way, wrapsol can be re-applied. they are reusable. I had it on my macbook pro, only to have found large bubbles that did not go away for about 5 days. Basically, they were "air pockets". So I peeled the wrapsol off and applied again with soap water, and it looks perfectly fine now.
When you take it off, it kinda loses the sticky feel on the adhesive side but it still works perfectly. Just make sure you don't stretch it hard as you peel them off.

reusable, matte finish, lifetime warranty or replacement, scratch proof.

by far, they are the best protector I ever owned. (had zagg and bse before)

Be more specific....I have the zagg on my MBA 13 and the only issue I have is that I would prefer these protectors to go edge to edge.

What makes the Wrapsol better...All of these protectors seem to be made of the same material. Matte finish being the only difference I can see. Why did you not like Zagg & BSE?
