It’s not softer, it’s actually sharper with more detail.

The reason why you felt it was softer is because previous iPhones shot at 12mp whereas the 15 Pro’s shoot at 24mp.
But what about the selfie camera? My back cameras are fine. Selfie seems very different than my 14pm. I would test but I just sent my phone to my dad. Lol

Tracking seems slow with selfie unless you take off raw 12mp and put in portrait mode. You notice this as well??

Inside with ok light the selfie camera is not great vs my 14pm. Maybe it is my phone but I do know the changed the sharpening methodology.

The back cameras are totally fine
Selfie camera is terrible at first until the processing happens, then it’s slightly better but still not like my 14p.

Wouldn’t the 24mp be sharper though? I’m finding softer and less detail than my 14p on 12mp, especially when zooming in. Things just seem out of focus.

Actually since clicking off raw 12 and then enabling the F it is much better. So odd for sure

This is a portrait I took of my dog, both of us were standing completely still. There is literally nothing in this photo that’s in focus. I’m no stranger to photography and my 14 pro would have had no issue at all with this photo as I have tons of other extremely similar photos of my dog with no issue like this. I’m hoping that maybe photos will get better with software but I’m not sure. I’m starting to think mine just might be defective.

In focus or not, he’s still a very good boy (or girl)

From my car on the 5x lense. I have a full frame dslr with a 600mm lense but it’s always at home. It seems the 5x is always 12mp so it might be worth to zoom more in camera app than just crop afterwards. Crop:
