  • take the leaf of a tree
    trace its exact shape
    the outside edges
    and inner lines
memorize the way it is fastened to the twig
(and how the twig arches from the branch)
how it springs forth in April
how it is panoplied in July
    by late August
    crumple it in your hand
so that you smell its end-of-summer sadness
    chew its woody stem
    listen to its autumn rattle
watch it as it atomizes in the November air
    then in winter
when there is no leaf left
    --invent one

I read this 35 years ago and never forgot it.
    invent one

Apple ProRAW: 13 Pro max.

Been learning more about masking in Lightroom… I never really educated myself on it & didn’t know what it really did. My images now pop with sharpening in only the important areas. It does great with noise on the night sky.
Here is a one minute video

The masking really cleaned up the image below of the tree bush. All of the little sticks and flowers are popping now. So much cleaner!!!

Sure.. I’m sure I’ll share more soon. I’m glad I researched masking some & found that short video… now I’m re-editing many of my photos, LOL
I have yet to really get the hang of Lightroom, so any help is definitely appreciated.

Editing with Lightroom works best on RAW photos because of the extra data you have to play with. Jpeg photos are already compressed and not much can be done with the image. The best advice I can give is choose a section of Lightroom like highlight adjustments and search YouTube for some quick videos, then do the same for sharpening, exposure, etc. then you’ll feel more comfortable using it. Feel free to ask me any questions as well.

I'm happy to see this discussion here, thank you for posting. I've had lightroom for years but never could really get into it since I was pretty proficient with Photoshop, but since getting this iPhone 13 Pro I'm playing with it quite a bit and learning to shoot using it. I have loved the masking in camera raw for a long time and find it very helpful.

Also there are a lot of tutorials available from within the help section of Lightroom itself that can be very helpful.

I was going to try Halide but decided to give LR a go first, since I already have it.
