I'm also interested to read your comparison once you get the S10. I'm trying very hard to resist pre ordering from Verizon. So far the rational side of me is prevailing and I haven't done it!

I keep telling myself Android Q first build(s) will probably come out in 3 months, if that, and I'll enjoy trying that more than using an S10...meanwhile I've seen my battery drop a percentage just from viewing this thread for 5 mins haha...battery on this phone is so hit or miss and a big thing that I don't like. I will be paying attention to real world battery life reviews on the S10+ for sure.

Plus you won't have to wait for a year to enjoy Android Q (mmm... system wide dark mode finally) as Samsung is dirt slow in releasing OS updates, plus the carrier's red tape.

Chrome is the industry standard in my line of work (web dev) and it’s unfortunate that I can’t find a way to export my safari passwords effectively to it. I wish there were a way, but it just doesn’t get them all. Short of visiting every single site again, I can’t see another way.

Exactly why I forced myself into a third party solution, 1Password in my case. While I was firmly ensconced in the Apple ecosystem at the time, it was problematic when trying devices outside the walled garden. I can get to my 1Password content everywhere--Windows, Mac OS, iOS, Android, even Chrome OS.

I have a feeling this took you quite a bit of time if you have as many passwords (or more) than I do.

Yes, but I did it over time as I was still using Safari and the iCloud Keychain so as I input login info prefilled from Keychain, I saved it in 1Password. Also, I made the point of creating any new logins using 1Password.

I caved and ordered the S10+ yesterday. There's already a very nice system wide dark theme on the S10 and it looks fantastic based on my time playing with a demo unit. Assuming I keep it (no defects) I'll likely swap my sim back and forth between it and the Pixel. I know come June - August I will want to try Q just like you haha, and will miss the Pixel if I sell it. At which point I'd re-buy likely on Swappa and waste more money or deal with potential defects in a new unit. I'm very close to selling my iPhone. It's been collecting dust. Not to mention using three phones is just insane and I need to draw a line / get rid of one of them shortly after I start playing with the S10+.

It sucks because I refuse to carry more than one phone but I've almost cancelled my pre-order several times. I've had the Pixel for almost 2 weeks and I like it more and more every day.

I’ve seen you say that the battery isn’t great. But are you confident it will always get you through the day and not need charging until at least later in the evening?

If I’m not keen on the S10+ camera, I just know I’ll end up buying a Pixel!

Yeah the biggest thing I deal with is idle drain. But I also just came from iOS after a year and a half so I'm just not used to it. What's weird is that it seems like battery sucks but I'm constantly averaging between 5-6 hours SOT. The only thing I'd worry about is if I went camping or something. But I could always look for a portable wireless charger or battery pack.

I have been a little spoilt by the battery on my Max. I was more than happy with my 2XL but this is lots better.

I hear you. The March update has made the Pixel feel like a Pixel again as I said before. The Achilles heel is the battery although it has gotten a little better with the update. Where did you buy the Pixel from? If Google, can you request a return on the 14th day and buy yourself some time with shipping label in hand? I recall with Apple I got additional time to send back the device after receiving the shipping label. Maybe like a week? If this works, you can buy some more time and play with both devices and return whichever one you don't like. I just checked on the Google website but it only says once you get RMA you need to return the device within 15 days of receipt of the phone, so that doesn't answer the question.

Yesterday after 7.5 hours off the charger (entire time on wifi) I had 60% battery left and had 3:30 screen use. That's the best I've gotten since I've had the phone. Idle drain is still a problem. Here at work I topped off and removed from the charger at 100% 3 hours ago. Strong LTE connection. Only 14 mins of screen time and I'm down to 92%. This phone is very hit or miss. The phone always makes it until the end of the day for me though, occasionally I have gotten down to 25-30%. Now I usually leave it plugged in when I'm at the office so I don't need to worry.

Yeah I got it from a trusted member here. I used the trade in option for the Pixel so my plan is to get the S10+ and use it for a week and then swap back to the Pixel for 2 days and then make my final decision.

Long shot but anyone know of anywhere to get a Pixel 3 screen fixed in LA? I’m on holiday and smashed mine. The authorised repair costs $270 and most other repair shops just list Apple and Samsung devices. Going home tomorrow so not a massive issue but would like to get it fixed asap.

Any Pixel 3 owners going to the S10 line? I love the idea of the vanilla android, better updates, camera, and call screening of the Pixel line but also love the screen and advanced tech of the S10.

I am contemplating buying a Pixel 3 or S10.

Pixel 3 has the same exact amazing cameras the XL right?

Feel free to read my dilemma. It's will documented. lol

I freaking love my Pixel 3 XL and have almost cancelled my preorder several times, but the S10+ looks so superior in almost every way. And yes the Pixel 3 has the same camera, which is amazing.

I think what has me leaving towards the Galaxy is the fully integrated dark mode as well as a watch the matches the Samsung ecosystem better. I definitely want a watch and I just haven't really been inspired by any Wear OS watches and my other option is a Fitbit Versa.

Still very tough choice. I've had my Phone on for 2 weeks now and I absolutely love it.

Ugh, I just read your dilemma and mine is almost doubled if you will having to decide the leap to Android AND whether to do it with Pixel line or S10. I also feel buying a Pixel now is stupid as i assume the new one will be out in a month or 2?

So torn!

If it makes you feel any better, I made the leap from iOS too and really don't miss it like I thought I would, so that's a plus!

I really don't think the Pixel 4 will be out until October. BUT, Android Q Beta will be out well before that with a fully integrated dark mode.

If you're coming from an iPhone and like uniformity, then the Pixel will feel nice. The one thing that I'm concerned about when I get my S10 are double apps and the phone being too busy. iOS kind of have me OCD in that area. Lol

Yea the Pixel line seems like the easier transition into Android. I am a big watch user though so I am concerned there as well as Android Auto, passwords, etc.

Was the trade in of $550 only good for pre-orders? I could use the Pixel for a while and then decide to trade in maybe.

I think that will probably go down after pre-orders but I'm guessing you could still sell it for $600 on Swappa or even here.

Yeah the watch thing is tough for me. I almost caved and got a Fitbit Versa. The Fossil Sport looks nice too but nowhere near how Samsung watches work with Samsung phones.

Agree with @mjschabow that we won’t see the Pixel 4 until October-ish. Or were you considering the Pixel 3 Lite that’s rumored to be possibly coming soon?

I’m using a XS Max and while I still love the phone, I’m finally about fed up with Apple and am making a serious effort to extricate myself from their ecosystem. So I’m using a Pixel 3 XL as my secondary phone right now with the intention of eventually moving my main sim into it. The dilemma is making sure I’ve got my Apple Watch set up to keen using it as i just get so much utility out of it that cannot be replaced by another smart watch.

I really like the 3 XL. The notch is mildly annoying and I still prefer FaceID over a rear mounted FP sensor but otherwise mine has been almost entirely problem free (only issue is Google Assistant stopped launching eithe by voice or squeeze on two occasions and was only remedied with a device restart).

At least Samsung makes up for its piss poor release schedule by having extras like their own system wide dark mode. Flipping phones on Swappa makes sense for sure. I doubt I would have bought the pixel 3 XL anyway, I only grabbed it because it was essentially a bit less than $200 after discounts and credits so I figured why not.

Nah I would be more interested in the Pixel 4 line. I have the XS Max right now and while I enjoy the phone, I am just really bored with Apple's crap and want to try Android until the next Apple announcement.

I also wanted to try a smaller device like the Pixel 3 size over the XL

Oh I'd never pay full price for the Pixel 3/XL at this stage in the game. Knowing what the competition now brings to the table. I figured the same as you, got mine for $600 through Best Buy's instant $300 down payment promo they had going earlier this year.

Samsung's dark mode has me very excited. The screen just pops. The S10 is just stunning in comparison to the Pixel 3XL. It's not in the same league. My biggest gripe with the Pixel is still the horrible black crush that has been present since the 2. It creates blotches, blobs, jaggies, pixelation in a lot of content I watch. I'm surprised the big review sites just don't care and instead gush and cradle Google's jewels. I'm hopeful that the S10 won't exhibit this behavior, if it does it will instantly be returned. The overall positives outweigh the negatives to me on the Pixel, so it has still been the best Android phone for me. Can't wait for delivery tomorrow. There may be a new champ.

Can’t remember who was discussing Pixel 3 UK prices with me a few pages back, but Google have £125 off both models.

Same with curry’s and CPW, so a good time to buy!

If they could make that £200 off or maybe include the Pixel stand as well.
