Yeah I was sold on the S10+ but the pre-order has been really frustrating. And then looking the Pixel more and more has made it even harder.

The 4 things that still have prevented me from cancelling my S10 order:

1. Battery life
2. Free Galaxy buds
3. Better watch options
4. Full dark mode

I'm a bit out of the loop but can't you use any Android watch on any Android device?

I guess I could use a Galaxy watch on the Pixel. I like uniformity so I'm just not sure that there's a Wear OS watch that would be worth it. With the Galaxy, the Galaxy watch matches up well.

See, this is the crap that Apple has done to me.

On android you can use the best phone with the best watch with very few limitations. Enjoy the freedom! :D

Just wondering...does the auto brightness work terribly for everyone else on the P3XL or is it just mine? It constantly changes even when the lighting conditions haven't.
I used to get constant fluctuation but it has gotten much better. You need to frequently adjust your brightness slider to what you want - while leaving adaptive brightness enabled - when your lighting changes even a little bit. Eventually the phone will learn and adjust. The fluctuations should be much less jarring. It's really annoying but I have noticed a difference after a month.

Well according to Samsung it is really shipping today, so I'm going to stick to the original plan and try the S10 out for a week and make my decision from there!!!

Amen. I'm way too attached to my Apple Watch. I actually still wear it when I use my Android devices, even though all I can do is tell the time. :(

Right there with ya. I'm planning on keeping some type of iPhone as a secondary phone solely because of the Apple Watch. I just used it to track a workout followed by a short 12 mile bike ride, all without a phone yet staying connected and listening to both an offline podcast and audiobook on Audible. Not giving that functionality up.

I think my favorite non Apple Watch ever was the original Hauwei Watch. That thing was pretty great for its time.

Another extremely underrated feature of the Pixel 3 XL is the always listening music feature. I heard a song in my coworker's car on my way home from lunch and instead of having to open up my phone and launch Shazam (or use a voice assistant), all I had to do is look at my AOD and there the song was. Such a cool feature.

Just screened my first call today and blocked a scammer. WOW! That cancel button is getting bigger, Samsung. You snooze you loose, b*tches.

Then you realize that the Pixel 3 has less smoothness than the OP6T lol. Too bad it doesn't have enough RAM because I don't think the Pixel 3 is as viable as Google positioned it.

Apple needs this feature ASAP

So does Samsung. I expect Android Q to bring it in or a future Google Services update. It's such an important feature. Hence, why I am giving up on iOS.

Do you think Google would bring over a feature like that that they use to differentiate themselves from the competition? Hard to tell on that front. But I agree that iOS could use a version of it. And perhaps the (hit or miss) always on music id.

Yeah the March update did a lot to help that. I did notice a couple slight hiccups today though so I'll keep an eye on that. Since Monday's update, performance has been stellar with the exception of something hogging the RAM at one point

Yes, because Google can't hoard that feature away from its other Android partners forever. Google brought over the Assistant pretty quick to its partners. I believe LG was one of the first phone makers with the Assistant built in. The Assistant was a Pixel timed exclusive. It's not like night site on the camera or anything like that.

I made the move last night and jumped on a pre-order for the S10 plus prism white. My only hesitation was the price but I plan on buying a used Note 8 for $350 and using that for a $550 discount, so essentially $200 off plus a $130 e certificate. It the end it'll be an almost straight swap for when I sell my Pixel after a little legwork.

My 3 XL has been better since the March update but at this point the quick updates, stock Android, and camera don't outweigh all the areas where the S10 is better...speed, battery life, screen, features, multitasking, etc.

Curious to know, what better multi-tasking does Sammy offer over the Pixel 3 XL?

Multitasking may not be the best terminology. But 8 gb of RAM compared to 4 on the Pixel it stands to reason that it will be much better at holding apps in memory and therefore switching between apps without reloads.

Ah ok, then that makes more sense. I think a 6gb RAM Pixel would've solved the crux of their performance issues. 8gb is even better, but it's not necessary as a 6gb RAM/855 combo flies on the S10e.

My husband and I think the 3XL still compares well to his new S10+. But the battery, considering the 3XL is as big as the S10+ is terrible. There's no more excuse. Pixel 4 has to deliver on the battery life.

He's stopped having problems for awhile. I haven't had any so far but I don't hit the phone as hard as he does with multitasking. I've been ok on the current specs but I am happy to get better ones, of course.

I don't think the Pixel is a bad phone by any means. Especially after the price drop it lines up much more with the quality of the device. Asking $1000 for the XL was just too much given the hardware limitations.

IMO the s10 just seems like you get a lot more for the same price. But I guess it all depends on what your priorities are in a phone. If you must have the newest version of Android or the camera is your most important feature than the Pixel is still the only real choice. Personally I handle a lot of emails, web browsing, videos, and music on my phone with the camera being secondary. Having a better display and not constantly reloading apps is more important to me.

For the first year, you're on the money.

You don't truly regret a Samsung device until I/O and then October when the next Android version launches. Other than that, you're fine.

I agree with that to a degree. I think that was a much bigger deal back during the Nexus days when each version of Android brought a major overhaul in terms of features and design. However, the last couple major OS revisions for Android have been more optimization than new, must have features in my opinion.

I still see the appeal in being the first to get the newest version of Android but it doesn't move the needle like other used to. Im starting to think the same about stock Android. While I still prefer it over any skin, it's not head and shoulders above the rest anymore. OneUI seems to be a good alternative and many would argue OxygenOS is better than stock Android, especially with the better gestures and additional features .
