I did my best to get you a Pixel 3, lol. As consultation, here's a pic from a 3XL of the newest addition to the family! :)

You definitely did and my indecisive a** didnt pull the trigger.
Also, I dont need see that right now as my kids are begging me for a dog and I have resisted multiple months and will continue to...for now. :(

I'm back on my Pixel after 4 days with the S10+, just returned it. The phone can't play audio over bluetooth using LDAC codec set to 990kbps. It also doesn't support AptX HD for some ridiculous reason only Samsung knows. This combined with my pink hue (at only a slight angle) issue, slow FPS, and overall multiple steps needed to get to simple functions / settings in the phone compared to Pixel or iPhone, caused me to throw in the towel. Not at all worth its price tag. Apple can *barely* get away with charging $1000 due to the superior overall product and stellar customer service. But not Samsung. That phone or any Android had better be close to perfect if they want $1000 out of me.

I'll probably buy the upcoming OP7 considering it'll likely have no notch, hole punch, or otherwise, to use alongside the Pixel. And will run nice and quick. And cost half the price of the S10+.

I've only had the S10 for a day now but I find it odd you think the Pixel was worth the money but not the S10. I have both and so far I find the S10nfar superior. But other each their own I guess. The display issue I find particularly wierd because when comparing the two the S10 screen is so much better than my 3 XL.

I will agree that things are more logical and straight forward on the Pixel, especially in the settings. The S10 can do a lot more, but it definitely takes some digging to find the options for a lot of things.

He got a bad OLED. It happens. When my husband and I got Note 7's, his was a murky aqua hue that looked like it had been steeped in tea compared to the one I got that was a nice crisp white.

The problem with ordering directly from Samsung with the pre order deals is if you need to return the phone for an exchange, you can't just keep the pre order goodies and just exchange only the phone. You have to send everything back. And you can get the new phone but the deals are gone and you're screwed.

And Lord help you if you didn't read the fine print and sent your old phone in for the trade. You don't get refunded the full amount that includes the value of your trade in. You get refunded what they actually charged you. So say that I got $550 for the S9+ I send in. But I discover a defect in the new phone after I sent in my old one. So I send in the new phone and try to get an exchange. Apparently front hearing from people who have gone through it and front looking at the fine print, they don't just exchange the phones. They give you just $450 back on your account. Or whatever it was you paid after the trade in was deducted. They don't apply the value of your trade in to the refund. So you now are out of a phone to trade back in. You're out of the value it had. You're down to $400 and trying to repurchase a $1000 phone.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I read and what I saw someone go through a couple of years ago. It's a bit nerve-wracking doing business with them. Google handles trade ins much more logically.

So far Iiking my Galaxy Watch Active paired up to my Pixel 3XL . It will take a couple of days to see how I really like this combo. And see how it affects battery life on my Pixel.

Pixel 3 XL slaughtered my XS Max on LTE. Lots of reports of cellular data loss with iPhone XS.

How’s the Galaxy Watch Active like compared to the Apple Watch? It was just yesterday when I was looking at the pre-release offers for it and the price + bundled wireless power bank sounds enticing. Of course Samsung hasn’t released Samsung Pay here, so I’d lose payments with the watch, but the other aspects might work.

So far I’ve only gotten to wear it a few hours while awake and then while sleeping so I don’t have a sense yet of how well it handles notifications. I probably don’t even have everything enabled that I want enabled.

So far what I find different from my Apple Watch is that any visible phone function merely initiated the process of switching to the phone to complete it. I can’t really answer or make a call. There’s apparently no speaker. I think there is a mic for voice control, of Bixby, I believe. Complications fulfill basically the same functions as what I’m used to having. I can and did purchase a watch face that has all the complications I had wanted. AOD is great, I really value that, but it probably eats into battery life.

It definitely works with the Pixel 3XL and it looks like I will have some apps I remember using with my Gear Watch and S7 Edge, like Samsung Health. I don’t have Samsung Pay. I’ll have to check and see if Google Pay is available. I don’t use Google Pay so I’ll have to set it up.

That’s all for now. I’ve got to get some chores done and get some coffee!

I got my Pixel 3 XL for $600. Jumped on Best Buy instant $300 down payment promo earlier this year. At this stage in the tech cycle I'd never pay full price for the Pixel. Ergonomically yeah the S10+ is much better. But that's it. My Pixel's screen is better than the S10+ I had. I got pink hue at just a slight angle with the S10. Just moving my wrist slightly if I shifted positions was enough. My Pixel barely shifts blue and is much more pleasant. I may have just been unlucky. I have a beef with intense pink color shift, I don't know why I hate it so much but I do. I view it as a defect. Like I said, it was a combination of factors that caused me to throw in the towel. S10 is a fantastic device. Just not for me.

same here. I couldn't hold a call with my Xs Max in my house (1 bar on T-Mobile). My Pixel 3 XL and S10+ report 3 or more bars all the time and hold calls just fine. The main reason I no longer own the Xs Max. It's a shame, because I really liked that phone. But these android ones will fill in the void just fine :)

I pre-ordered the Galaxy Watch Active which arrived this past Monday. It's actually a great little watch.. emphasis on little. 40mm size is just too small for my wrist, so I will send it back. But, if Samsung made a 43mm or 44mm (not 46mm as I think that's too big for me), I'd get one. The haptics on the watch are very reminiscent of the apple watch (not like the vibration of the Galaxy watch and Gear S3). The bezel around the screen is a little big but really similar to the thickness of rotating bezel of the Galaxy Watch, so not really a change from previous watches. Functionally, I didn't have an issue with the missing rotating bezel. I'm used to swipes and taps from my Apple Watch (44mm) and Garmin Vivoactive 3 anyway, so I didn't miss the rotating bezel.

Overall, the responsiveness and the haptics won me over on it but I'll be sending it back due to the size. It did seem like software wise it was a little more refined than the Galaxy Watch which I liked. I'll try to take comparison pics of it later today. What size is your Apple watch?

Strange. I get the exact same signal strength on both my XS Max and my 3xl. 2 bars inside my building and full strength outside. Calls are fine either way.

Edit: and shouldn’t WiFi calling fix that anyway?

Try the speedtest app. I get faster speeds from my Android phones than my Xs Max. I think it might be the modems used in some iphones. They went with Intel modems over Qualcomm

Wifi calling has always been hot garbage for me on t-Mobile. Not sure why. Mainly the missed text messages (I don't use iMessage) but I know the Xs Max had some potential antenna design flaws (1) (2) that likely cropped up on my device. Apple replaced it with a new one but I just sold that one on Swappa and moved full time to Pixel 3 XL -> S10+

when I was in a good signal area, my Xs Max speeds were the same as my P3XL. It's just in crappy signal areas where the Xs Max really dropped off but the other phones fared better. I'm talking about 1 bar or so (~-120 dB or weaker IIRC).

WiFi calling has been hit or miss on Verizon as well. But unless I’m in a place with one bar it seems to be ok. Also, I know for a fact that my SMS isn’t going out over WiFi, regardless of what Verizon wants you to believe. If it was, they wouldn’t have to be resent 5 times.

I really want to go look at the S10 today, but a pic in the other thread of the FPS being off center kinda bugs me (I’m left handed).

Thanks :) If I’m not mistaken, Galaxy watches don’t support Google Pay, but I’d be happy to be proven wrong.

Thanks, the haptics part sounds promising as I didn’t care about the Gear S3 vibration. My Apple Watch is the 42mm Series 3, so I’m not sure if the Active would be too small.

The included USB-C headphones are pretty sweet. They sound great for what they are.

Screen call is the greatest tech feature ever created.

One other random thought - the notch, while large compared to others, is very overblown by folks after having used the phone for a few hours.

[doublepost=1552506106][/doublepost]@Roadstar , here's some pics of other watches compared to the Galaxy Watch Active

https://imgur.com/a/ZJ9tFC5

Galaxy Watch (46mm), Apple Watch Series 4 Nike+ (44mm), Garmin Vivoactive 3 (43mm), Galaxy Watch Active (40mm)... FWIW, I'm returning the Galaxy Watch (too big and clunky for working out) and the Galaxy Watch Active. My main go-to will be the Garmin but if/when I use an iPhone again, I'll have my Apple Watch waiting.
