I just dropped by to see what’s going on here. I don’t really have much to say. My Pixel 3XL has been behaving so far. Being all nice and Googley. :D

I’ve really enjoyed it. It’s been a great partner to my iPhone XR. My Xr does have better call quality by a hair, so I’m still using it for calls. I also sometimes have an easier time on backwater country roads with Apple maps, believe it or not. So the Xr didn’t lose its job yet. But I do most things on the Pixel due to the better screen.

I might be moving my main SIM back to the Pixel 3 as I've now been wearing the Galaxy Watch Active for a couple of days and it's been a nice watch to wear. Sure it's not the largest watch in the world and it doesn't do payments like my Apple Watch does (Samsung Pay hasn't been released here so far), but it's really comfortable to wear and its workout detection seems to be somewhat better than the one on the Apple Watch. In addition, the battery life on my iPhone 8 has taken a serious nosedive lately. Even though the battery health is still 95%, it's become extra sensitive to cold unlike when the battery was new. So it might be a good time for a new round of having the Pixel 3 as my daily driver while waiting to see what Android Q and iOS 13 bring to the table. The Galaxy S10+ has been tempting me a bit, but I think I'll wait a while for the almost inevitable price drops before pulling the trigger on that.

Pixel 3 XL night sight vs iPhone Xs Max.

As lovely as the camera is, goodness Frosty has been trying my patience this weekend. I've not done many Amazon product or book reviews on the 3XL since I've gotten it. Most of my reviews are very short, maybe 2-3 sentences, usually, so I wouldn't necessarily have noticed a problem until yesterday when I had to do a couple of reviews that were about 3-5 short paragraphs apiece. Well once I got past the second paragraph the phone would get incrementally slower with each additional word and then letter typed. It was horrible trying to finish the reviews. Yes I have done multiple reboots. I suppose a full reset is on the horizon. Sigh.

And for some time now auto brightness has been bad, but now it's absolutely horrific. Trying to use my phone here in the dining room on a sunny day with fluffy clouds rolling by is wreaking complete havoc on the auto brightness. It's starting to trigger my migraine. I think it's a bit too sensitive to the light levels.

If I get on well with the Samsung and there are no issues I may not move on to the Pixel 4, no matter how adorable it looks.

Of course I will turn the auto brightness off, but that's really not the solution I was looking for.

Is there a way to swipe back to the previous page like in iOS? Or another gesture to go back?

So Brave pushed out an update today that updates the browser to Chromium 73. Why does that matter, you ask? :D Well, now in Chrome and Chromium 73 you can enable horizontal swipe gestures via Chrome://flags

Brave is very nearly the perfect browser for me on Android. If they could just now add 'tap to return to top'...;)

And reading mode c'mon devs...! Dark reading mode on XS Max still the prettiest text reading experience on any mobile device.

Everytime I come into this thread someone is having some bizarre issues with this phone.

Hopefully Google get their act together with the Pixel 4 series.

Doubtful. I think a lot of us only have the Pixel phones because of the amazing cameras. I swear it seems like the 3/XL had more problems than the 2/XL.

Mine was great until I tried writing those longer Amazon reviews. If there has always been a problem I would not have known it because typically my reviews are only a couple of sentences. It was quite the eye opener to run into this problem.

The auto brightness has never been as good as on an iPhone or a Samsung. It’s bad on my Pixel 2, too. But it just got so incredibly bad when I made my post. I don’t know if I was just good at ignoring it up until that point or if it’s because we finally got some sunny days that finally started tripping the light sensor. We’d been living in an overcast haze for months here. It makes for steady, albeit depressing lighting.

Thank you! I thought I was the only one annoyed by the wacky auto brightness with the Google phones. I swear that thing never works, and I always have to manually adjust it.

You are right: It's definitely not as good as the iPhone/Samsung. The Samsung screen always blinds me, since its so bright.

So... Who is looking at that 3a or 3a XL? I might grab one if the price is not borderline ridiculous. Just to check it out

Wanting to get a Pixel 3 on a big discount and to have an Android counterpart to my iPhone I am interested.I will say I haven't heard anything about it though and no idea on release/specs.

If the pricing leaks are true on the 3a 3a XL they might have a hit. A leak showed $300 and $350 respectively. Not sure though since it comes out 6 months after the 3 series.

Hell I'd almost buy that just for kicks while keeping the S10+ as my main driver.

The 3a series has to be down in the $300 to $400 range to be successful. If it gets anywhere near the OnePlus price range it would be foolish to pickup one over the 6t or upcoming 7.

I wish they'd call it Nexus again if it's this cheap just for nostalgia's sake. I'm a sucker for nostalgia.

The Nexus 4 was my favorite phone of all time. Not saying the performance was great but I loved that phone and the pearly glass back.

I still have a soft spot for my Nexus One. That was the first phone I had that really felt like a finished product (at the time).

Loved my Nexus-One, it showed how cool and customizable a smartphone could be, compared to the stale iPhone at the time.
