Are any of you ordering, but not planning to use Fi long term? Any concern you’ll be charged the difference in the discounted price?

One win I noticed this morning - using Google Play Music in my car and I have the option of using steering wheel controls!! Doesn't work with anything outside of iOS normally so I was well chuffed!

Hmm. So my phone has been in a locker all day, only been out when I've been on a break etc.

My battery is 65% which seems low when the SoT is like 25 mins. I checked settings and this is what I've got:

Is it this "ambient display" that would be doing it? Also, what even is that?
Seems to be a big drop for hardly any use.

I think the poor cell signal is likely the culprit. Have you thought about putting it in airplane mode when in the locker?

Yeah not sure it would be that. Surely that's excessive as it has signal when it's in the locker. We have really good Vodafone coverage at work so I can't see the locker preventing it.

What is the ambient display? Could that be causing it?

Fi doesn't seem as good a deal as it was in the past.

I ALMOST jumped on the deal as I have been wanting a Pixel for quite some time but did the math:
Fi with max GB used, fees and 2 people will be about $160 or so
ATT unlimited everything and $20 bill credit for autopay and work discount $165

I was shocked it wasn't cheaper but I guess something like MetroPCS or Cricket are the cheap alternatives.

I'm just doing it to get the pixel. I do want to test sprint in my area, so I'll keep the Fi on it for a month to do that but then cancel Fi and just keep the phone and use my T-Mobile sim.

I've turned Adaptive Display off so will see how that affects the battery. It's on, but I need to double tap to activate it.

I still have notifications waking the screen so will see how I go.

One thing I really like about this device is the fact that YouTube videos are full screen when in landscape. No pinch to zoom and cutting the edges off, just all full screen.
It's a nice change;

I have been looking to cut my costs in the cell phone arena and exploring the "budget" plans but was surprised how much Fi was at $10/gb.

I will stick with ATT for now but the Metro by Tmobil for $80 unlimited everything is hard to pass.

yeah, Fi is expensive unless you literally use a gig or two of data. I average ~22 GB a month on T-Mobile for $70/month (One Plus unlimited plan) so I know Fi won't work out for me in the long term.

Wow, I apparently got luckier than I realized when we switched from AT&T to T Mobile a few years ago when they launched their One plans. I have 5 lines all in One Plus unlimited, including free Netflix, for $120/mo.

If anyone needs a cheap second line to test for a few months, Mint Mobile (T Mobile MVNO) had a 3 month promo for 8GB a month of data for $20 total ($6.67/month). After that I think it's $25/month, with another tier costing $35/month for 12GB data. I'd still be using them if I wasn't able to get a line for $13/mo though my job.

I can't believe how quickly I have become accustomed to a smaller phone again.
It's funny how you can so easily get used to using something that's massive (P30 Pro etc) and feel like anything smaller is not worth considering, until you go back to it and then anything bigger seems excessive. :D

The smaller Pixel 3 really is so nice to use. Reminds me of the iPhone X in terms of feel which I loved the size of.
For the Pixel 4 if they could get rid of the bezles and keep a flat screen (please Google do NOT curve the screen) and get a FPS in the display and dual / triple lens camera then they're winning!

Keeping an eye on the battery today having turned the adaptive display off.

@Aneres11 How do you find the FPS on the back after having used in display ones?

I've never liked FPS on the back of phones.
It is the last place I'd choose to have one but it is what it is.

It isn't so much of an issue with the smaller Pixel 3, as it is easy to reach, I think I'd have more of a problem if I'd bought an XL.

It does keep confusing me though as when I double tap to wake the screen a fingerprint icon appears on the screen and I do keep pressing it as if it will unlock the phone. :p
That's what using an S10 and then P30 has done to me!

My battery no better today with adaptive display off, which is not great. Well, it was a tiny bit better but only by a couple of percent.

Don't really understand it either as the battery settings don't really point to anything using battery. All the apps that have been used have used like 1/2% and are not running in the background or anything.

Like I say it's not so much of an issue during the week, but I am a bit concerned for weekends where I will be using it a lot more, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

That aside, really enjoying the phone.

This is what happens when you leave the cushiony comforts of a large Android with a huge battery to a smaller device

I do not believe the Snapdragon 845 was ever meant to run on something less than a 3500mAh battery device.
