Making their product a Verizon exclusive is a problem in America too. I truly wonder how many people have not bought the Pixel out of fear that it won’t work on their non-Verizon network.
You get exclusivity because you need to be in a carrier store in the US. Full Stop. If you can't get deals with all the carriers, exclusivity is the next best thing.^^^^This^^^^ exclusives come back bite you.... you might get some cash upfront. But lose sales all around.
Of course that is the worst case.....You get exclusivity because you need to be in a carrier store in the US. Full Stop. If you can't get deals with all the carriers, exclusivity is the next best thing.
The worst by far is to be in zero carrier stores.
See it's funny because their hardware has always been questionable, but the feel and build quality of the Pixel 3 is really great. Haptics are nice, it's not too thin but thin enough, great screen, FLAT (!) screen ! It's a lovely little package. And at the price I got it for with that camera I'm a very happy buyer.
But for the 4 they need to make it sexier. Plain Jane will only get them so far and that goes for their bare bones stock Android too.
My understanding is the Pixel 4 is the first one developed with that HTC team fully in place.Of course that is the worst case.....
But then after the first year they should have opened it up to other carriers.
To my knowledge AT&T and TMO and Sprint have all said they would have liked to have the P3 on their networks.
Big G is just bad at hardware...they hired a whole team from HTC a couple years back but it seems to not have made a difference.
I hope some of the renders we have seen are the real thing. They were awesome.
Overall smartphone sales are down, but someone like Google is a small player so they should have plenty of room to grow if they displace older Samsung phones.Wait wait wait... So smart phone sales are down for almost every manufacturer and carrier and they can't figure out why? As if there is some confusion about hiking prices up to ridiculous standards on almost everything for the same basic functionality as previous generations and planned obsolescence has nothing to do with declining sales then mix in a dose of anti consumerism (it's your fault we designed the device to be looked at and not used, that's why the screen broke because swollen batteries yadda yadda yadda) while they try to figure out their issues...
I may have woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning lol
Phone makers need to take the power back from the carriers, lower the prices, support their devices, be more friendly to consumers and devs. Nowadays is all about nickel and diming everyone for everything.
Great points! I love my Pixel too it provides a great overall user experience in my opinion.Well the Pixel 3 is most definitely a keeper.
I love it.
Such a great phone to use. I'm really pleased I decided to go for the smaller model. I can't tell you how great it is having a smaller phone again. Everything is reachable, it's so nice to use one handed. I have really small hands for a guy though so there is that!
I've hardly even taken any photos on it yet either as i just haven't had any interesting trips or scenarios to take any.
My only complaint is the battery life which really does need to be better. And also, I've noticed some slow down on this phone as the battery has got lower. Like some real sluggish response time which I haven't seen on an Android device in a long time.
Not sure why that is, but there we have it.
The only other thing is screen brightness. It simply isn't bright enough. I can live with these things though for all the benefits you get with owning a Pixel. Camera, software updates, reliable fingerprint scanner, great AoD (made even better with ''now playing". Squeezy sides, which I do use daily for Assistant, notifications on par with iOS (in terms of them actually coming through ... Looking at you Samsung, Huawei) and just overall polish. By polish I mean scroll speeds are iPhone like, Samsung need to sort that, default text looks really nice in apps etc.
Great phone. Roll on the 4!
https://www.phonearena.com/news/Google-Pixel-performance-issues-resolved-quick-fix_id115828The user, Trueray17, posted a thread on the Pixel subreddit to share his findings. Initially, he tried all the usual steps often suggested to cleanse your phone from bad influences: factory resets, app removal and so on. He then deduced that the reason must lie within the core software of the Pixel as the issue inevitably reappeared. Eventually, he set his sights on Digital Wellbeing, a feature Google introduced with Android 9 to help people manage better the time they spend on their phones. After turning off Digital Wellbeing’s usage access he noticed an immediate improvement in the phone’s performance.
What’s even better, as a diligent community member, he made a how-to video showing you exactly where to go to turn off said setting. Here it is:
Picked up the official black fabric case for my Pixel 3 yesterday. It's nice bit I'll only be putting it on during the week for work etc.
It's a little slippy I find, strangely!
Battery life is a real disappointment with this phone. I'm on 19% currently and I've had 3hrs 50 SoT which is really not that great.
I'll have to plug it in when I get home, I'm at my mum's currently. I can't believe the battery is quite this poor.
I can't speak to the Sprint service....Is anyone here using a Pixel 3 on Sprint? If so, can you please comment on your experience?
I'm very curious to know if updates come directly from Google or do they have to come through Sprint. Also, I'd like to know if all enhanced calling features work on Sprint.
I'm very interested in acquiring a Pixel 4 to use on Sprint once it is released this fall. But the above are important to me in order to make it worth while.
That does sound great! Maybe time to get the new betaHas anyone else put beta three on their Pixel yet? Its surprisingly good. The new full gesture navigation works really well, and I love that it doesn't automatically hop into the app switcher as it did before. Now when you swipe the app drawer up, that's exactly what you get without any of the "stop" for switching apps. Also it seems to be a bit more responsive than P was on the same device.
Gonna side load it onto my 3a.
Glad they removed that stupid app switch on short swipe. That's the reason I've had a launcher on my Pixel 3 since owning it as I hated that!
Curious what launcher are you using?
