My 3 XL crashed just a few moments ago. I recently updated some play store apps and afterwards doing some Twitter reading, I clicked on my Google calendar weather bar widget and it hung. Phone acted goofy and kind of not responded finally got back to desktop then shortly had the program not responding dialogue pop up and I closed the program and phone kinda got goofy. Finally rebooted.

I've also noted the phone gets a little choppy especially when using chrome and scrolling some times it's like the scrolling don't match your fingers. It's like a smooth choppiness. I'm probably not making sense.

Also noted after updating play store apps, you know how you get a notification. Instead of swiping them away I usually click on them to reload the store. Some times it takes a noticable delay to reopen the play store. Not as long as my s7e which I was thinking on replacing with my XL 3 but a bit  to say the least.

I know I know, part of the issue is not updating because of root, but those pesky malware infested apps, not all of them I know...

Do you think you might have a bad unit?
I've never had the Playstore act the way you have described.
My P3XL has been rock solid it has been my daily driver the last couple of weeks

Pixel 3 battery continues to be absolutely garbage.

I don't understand it. I'm doing everything I can to try and help the battery, like turning off the AoD (which I don't want to do) but it's still just pants.

Two and a half hours SoT with 35% left is not good at all.

Have you turned off digital well being? I have read that turning that off speeds up the phone and less jitters and more smoothness as well improved battery life.

Worth a try unless you value the service.

Yeah I read that last week and knocked it off thinking it'd be the answer. But nope.

I've factory reset twice.

It could be or just ram limited or just needed a reboot or just  I don't really use it for everyday. I haven't even shove a Sim in it. Couldn't decide on service for it.

Makes for a pretty paperweight however o_O:p

so far I don't have any complaints...this is beta 3 so they have most of the big bugs worked out

Off to load on to my 3a. It won't be my primary anyway. I'm hooked on my apple watch again.

*Edit, it says the 3a is not eligible to sign up for the beta until June. That's strange.

That's an interesting thought exercise.

I can imagine the 3a hasn't gotten as many miles with the pre-release software at Google.

I found the beta really buggy on my Pixel 3. I changed to the full gesture navigation and the phone coughed and spluttered through everything.

It froze several times, and whenever I tried to just go home, it wouldn't .Granted, I was using a different launcher and not the default and I think that was probably the reason. All the YT vids I've seen of people showing off the betas features didn't have any of that, so it was either the launcher or my Pixel 3 really is a dud.
[doublepost=1557652284][/doublepost]EDIT

On Friday when I opted my Pixel 3 in to the beta, the 3a was there as an option to opt in.

I've just been on now to try and opt my 3a in and as the above says, it's now only available from June.

Wonder why?

FURTHER EDIT:

So I've got rid of all other launchers and I'm going to try with the default Pixel launcher to see if that fixes any problems. I've removed digital well-being and turned off adaptive battery. I know that's meant to help battery, but I'm going to knock it off and see if it makes a difference.

I've also got rid of Samsung Internet and moved to Chrome (again, just to see) and see how that treats me. I've kept AoD on as I really don't want to turn that off and will update later today with findings.

If that doesn’t improve things are you considering going back to the 3a? I’m mainly using an Xr right now and the battery has me spoiled.

I did consider it and have considered it this morning yeah.

It's not just the battery with the Pixel 3 I've got, the performance isn't great. I don't use SnapChat, but this new filter everyone is going crazy for which makes you look like a woman if you're a man is the funniest thing I've ever seen.

So I downloaded it last night and my Pixel 3 camera viewfinder in the Snap app was horrendous. Slow, laggy, awful. The 3a when I tried on that didn't have any issues. It's very odd.

The problem I've got is I'm past the return period for my Pixel 3 now (I think) and I don't think the place in the UK I got it from has any stock left of these phones now due to the reduced price they sold them for recently.

I'll have to look into it.

I'm on T-Mobile with my 3 XL, and I check every day still no May update. But the last few updates came out immediately each first Monday, I would check system update, on April 1st, and March 4th and February 4th, and the update was ready to go right away, first try.

But now it's back to like before, where updates would be nowhere for a good week or ten days.

I'm no Apple iPhone fan, but when there's an update, there's a frigging update for all, doesn't matter if you have Verizon or T-Mobile or unlocked, everyone gets the update the exact same time, same day. I thought Google was finally doing this, but seems to early to celebrate, as they are back to their delays, or maybe it's the carrier, but that never happens when an iPhone has a new update.

So just finished work and checked my phone in my locker and battery was 72% which is a huge improvement over recent days!

Looks like turning off adaptive battery and digital well-being or whatever it's called has helped hugely. Oh and using the default launcher.

Tomorrow I'm going to turn the AoD off as that doesn't need to be on whilst it's sat in a locker (I'll activate it again when I finish work) and see if that helps further. Definitely happier with that though!

I still think you should put in airplane mode in the locker. Why not try that, do you wear a watch and need it on for notifications?

No don't wear a smart watch with it.
Seems silly putting in airplane mode though as I do get the phone out on breaks / lunch or whenever I nip for a coffee as I have to walk past the locker to go down to the canteen.

Depends how quick notifications come through after taking out of airplane mode too I guess.

I get it! I have some experience with poor signal strength and the resulting impacts in battery life. I live in the country and the poor signal drains incredibly quick. Not sure if the locker is interfering. I can’t recall how your Xr drained in the locker? If it did not drain that much, maybe it truly is a phone issue versus signal.

I’m glad to hear it’s been a little better lately, I know it’s frustrating.
