My impressions of the 3 (non XL) after a day -vs- Pixel 2...

1. Screen is MUCH better than the Pixel 2
2. Don't notice any speed increase
3. Battery life to early to tell
4. Feels good in hand, not slippery
5. Camera is better but I've only taken a few photos
6. Gestures are meh but I'll learn to live with them
7. Price is ridiculous -vs- $650 for the Pixel 2

Regarding #4, I love that it's as slim as the regular S9, which was one of the most ergonomic phones.

It's going to feel good going back to a small phone (coming from an S9+).

Just for fun I put one of my slim cases from my Pixel 2 XL on my 3 XL and you know what, it fits perfectly snug and tight, fits just right. Only problem is obviously the camera is in a different spot and the power button is slightly different spot, so you can't really use the case ,but as far as fit, it's right on, not loose or too tight.

This proves the two phones are the exact same overall footprint but the 3XL definitely has a noticeably larger screen, no question it's a wider screen and obviously taller with the notch area, and wider display

I'm still up in the air on getting one of these things. The XL 2 I ordered right off the bat and eventually needed an extended warranty replacement because of very slow battery charging (still present on my current device. No idea what the deal is) and burn in. Also a bit torn on the 3 and or the slate which is a different beast. A media consumption tablet would be nice.

The (off topic here) OnePlus 6t I have kind of lost interest in, my 6 just sits around aside from the occasional video while I'm munching and my pixel XL 2 is charging. Pie is buggy on the thing.

I might be a pixel snob

Anyway it'd be a little bit before I would go for the pixel 3. My Sprint galaxy s7e is due for replacement (and perhaps Sprint as well...)

BTW, anyone catch Erica's one week later XL 3 vid? I haven't seen it yet, just getting around to watching some vids of it...

Are you running your 3 XL with the notch, or did you disable it?

If latter, how does it feel using it compared to the 2 XL?

Yeah, I saw her video last night. I appreciate her showing the notch turned off for a minute or so.

I wish there was more footage of the notch disabled. I want to really see how it looks.

another reason to hate carrier exclusives.....another reason to hate VZW,,

Verizon Pixel 3 Units Have to be Activated on Verizon First Before Heading to Another Carrier
"Thought about heading into Best Buy to buy a Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL and then slapping a SIM card in from T-Mobile? You can’t, even with the phones being capable of working on almost any network. The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL sold as “Verizon” models are SIM locked until they’ve been activated on Verizon’s network"

From everything I’ve been reading and watching, I’ll probably be getting the XR instead. (Or the XS Max if I feel like treating myself!)

I bought the iPhone XS Max with the intention on returning it within the 14 day window of the Pixel reviews were good. They been generally positive but some areas that I just can’t overlook are the build quality issues and battery life. I came from the Note 8 and I can’t deal with another phone where I’m topping it off through the day.

I’ve never been a big iOS guy, but the max is an amazing device. It doesn’t justify the price tag, but it’s probably the best out right now along with the Note 9.

I ordered the 3XL, but some of the reviews and my recent Apple Watch 4 purchase have me thinking of the Xr. My only issue with iOS has been the camera and it seems they have that sorted.

Everything seems to be functional! Left the display on adaptive since boosted and natural give the display a bit to much yellow tint IMO. Tint seems to be uniform/I can't see any issues. As I said before, haptics is much improved. One handed use is great! Got to get used to the keyboard spacing though. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask! BTW unlocked still works with Verizon wifi calling.

Yeah, keeping tabs on the LG screen quality impressions, for this reason.

So far I am impressed. Color shift is minimal, tint seems uniform, colors are slightly saturated but I do have adaptive colors on. The only real gripe I have is that it does look slightly grainy in certain conditions. Those are few and far between and even in those situations, it's very minimal.

Had a hands on yesterday at o2.
Only had a look at the XL as he couldn't find the smaller one lol.

That notch is as problematic in person as it is in pictures from an aesthetic standpoint (for me).
Display looked good, but I've always found iPhone OLED displays to look the best to my eye but nice that these are supposedly improved.

Was all a bit 'meh' really.
Same with the colours. White and black now feel boring being uniform and Panda is certainly missed.

If I was interested in a Pixel 3 then I'd be going 'not pink'.

Another gripe with the display. Black smear is an issue. Black images against a bright background are fine but black images against the dark mode background produce pretty significant black smear. Again it's only certain situations but it is there. LG has made great progress with their OLED but some issues still remain.

I'm not going to hesitate to return my pixel if I come across something like that.

For $899 + tax this world be unacceptable to me.

Google QC isn't looking good this year, again. There are already articles of rattling speaker grills (yet another reason front firing speakers are a mistake)...

To me it's not a issue worth returning the product over. Yes wish it was not there but it's such a specific set of conditions required to produce it that most of the time I will not see it. That and the fact that there really isn't any other phone in this form factor that offers everything the pixel does (that includes stock Android).

Some other small observations. Speakers do not rattle for me. Sound very nice compared to other phone speakers. Yes the back does vibrate when playing sound but that is a product of how good the speakers are. It's not annoying to me but others might have issues with it. Also was surprised to see Verizon's messages+ app pre-installed on an unlocked pixel. Didn't really appreciate that bloatware but very easy to remove.

I dig it even more as I am now on day 3 with it...

Call screening is fantastic! So far I've used it 3 times on spammers and they instantly hang up! LOL

Screen is night and day better than the Pixel 2... It's not even close! Still to early to tell on battery life but appears to be on par with the Pixel 2...

Sound from the speakers is better and the included headphones are fantastic...

I am on Fi and call quality is excellent,

Overall I am very happy with the purchase. Is it worth an extra $150 over the Pixel 2? Not sure but I am happy with the 3... I was waiting to mail my Pixel 2 back (trade in for $300) until I was sure I was keeping the 3.. The 2 is getting mailed back today! :)

Picking up the Pixel Stand I ordered last week later today from my local Best Buy...

Flossy coming strong in his unboxing...

OMG....love the Lebron to George Jefferson hairline joke about the notch......Then he says "Look at that notch...that's nacho cheese"
[doublepost=1539961858][/doublepost]Erica Griffin......
She says you do get used to the notch. At least the Pixel 3 notch will display more notifications on the sides. Like battery percentage......Apple did you see that!

Pixel 3 in the house.

Nothing new to add. Love the form factor. I can't believe how good it feels in the hand. It actually feels small, especially when you compare it to the Pixel 2 (which looks down right archaic next to it).

Screen appears great so far. Still setting it up.
