The new screen set up on the 6

Looking good here. What are the icons? I like the whole vibe of your screen. I switched up my lock screen last night. Get a little pixel funky lol

The Seafoam Pixel 6 is pure Google phone type design. The funky cool design. The bezels around it are great and gripping and holding the phone feels solid.

The 6 Pro felt and looks more like a Galaxy phone. Ugh.
I agree. I’ve always wanted a Samsung device but I hate their software. So my Pixel 6 Pro gives me the look/feel of a Samsung device but with Google software, so I’m very happy with my purchase as it’s exactly what I want. But that Seafoam Pixel 6 looks so cool, probably my favorite of the 6/6 pro.

Having tried both phones the Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6. I will say the 6 Pro definitely feels and operates like a premium flagship to me. It does seem ever bit smoother and a tad faster. Is that because of the 120hz display or more RAM? Everything else is the same on the regular Pixel 6, plus runs a lower res screen, so it should be equally as fast right?

As far as the size difference, that's total personal preference, if I worked from home and didn't really go out and about much, yeah I would probably keep the 6 Pro, but I'm on the run and on the go a lot everyday and I need something more pocket-able and portable, plus those curved edges almost seemed pointless to me.

Pixel 6 ordered from Amazon here in the UK and arriving on Saturday. In the end I decided that would be the best device for me (this YouTube video helped with the final decision -
), given I've already got two other flagship devices.

Can't wait to get it now - I have a Pixel void in my life after selling my Pixel 5 a month or so ago.
Ha, he didn't fix his white balance either. His grey cat was blue, too, and he didn't even notice!

One thing I am noticing more and more from the pixel is a tendency to over-cool images with the default settings. Though it does tend to capture quite a bit of detail overall.

With a touch of editing in LR, pictures come out far better IMO. I have actually created a preset for indoor and outdoor shots.

-------

Pixel shot retouched. Still a little cold on the bottle labels, but an overall better image.

To some, having to edit may be a bit annoying, but I rarely post or forward off any image I take without some type of edit or conversion. I shoot C-RAW only on my big cameras which produce great, but huge images with no color profile added. So I am used to doing spot edits on the fly.

Same filter applied to iPhone, with 60% less warming.

Which photo best represents the color you saw in person? The unedited iphone photo looks like a teal filter was used. I don't like it as much. But in my brief experience with the 13 Pro it rendered fairly accurate colors, but punched up blue in the sky a bit. My Xr is spot on with color so far.

I still have my 13 Pro but I'm still in too rough a shape to try and pick it up again.

Wait, you think the 6 Pro feels like a Samsung? This is the first I'm hearing about it.

😉

Totally, not the software or UI, no way. I mean the physical device itself, with the tall more rectangle shape, not rounded like past Pixel's, the curved edge display. It feels like a premium Samsung Galaxy phone running stock Android, I've heard a lot of people say that as well.

Where the regular Pixel 6 seemed more Google-ish design.

Did you use magic eraser to get rid of bottles in this photo, or did you just drink them?

Also - are you shooting raw, or just working with jpgs?

I love shooting in raw (on my canon) but I fear of using up my 128gb way too fast if I turn it on

Yall gotta stop this madness. Making me second guess my decision of the Pro.

Going to Best Buy at lunch to handle a 6 ?
I seriously could not see a difference in screen quality or speed and for me the flat screen seems easier to read or the type of scree and it is definitely easier to hold without a case since it is slightly more narrow and the matte edges. I am waiting on my cases so this helps a bit.

So another test I just completed was a timed export of sixty, 45 megapixel JPEG images from my Canon R5 (8192 x 5464) using the exact same edits on both phones (preset).

- drop highlights
- boost shadows
- noise reduction (R5 doesn't really need this but it tests the processor more than most filters)
- adjust detail
- adjust white balance and saturation.

iPhone 13 Pro
12 minutes and 4 seconds to do the export of 60 images

Pixel 6
23 minutes 26 seconds to export 60 images.

This process really demonstrates the type of tasks I push these phones with. I often take photos (RAW format even bigger files), do quick edits, and post on social media / send to clients / or promoters directly at the sidelines of events I am shooting.

60 shots is extreme, as 10 is my normal workflow in this type of situation, but again in RAW photos. Sadly at this time, Android and Lightroom does not support the RAW format my camera outputs, so even with the boost that USB-C has for file copy, it isn't a phone I can use in my workflow just yet . Hopefully later updates provide access to this, though the sheer processing power of the 13 Pro is what I need for the speed of posting my photos.

I guess for now, best of both wolds will require me to carry my iPad mini 6. It nearly matches the speed of the iPhone in the same processing test, has USB-C and talks to my cameras just fine.

The iPhone was more true to life. The teal color in the images was not present / nor natural. The Pixel is over-cooling the image and adding a blue / teal color.

The edited iPhone shot is closer to real life with a touch of warmth / saturation added. That said, I like the way the Pixel 6 edited shot looks the best.

lol No I didn't drink that much beer. I usually shoot in RAW.

Apple's refusal to put USB C on its flagship iphones is just infuriating at this point.

Agreed!

Just to clarify I am not hating on the speed or ability of the pixel 6 for processing speed or the camera.

I love this phone and camera for what I will use it for. Exporting 3-4 photos on the 6 is plenty fast and will be part of my workload.

For now I may capture photos in raw + JPEG for days I am working with the pixel.

Just swung by best buy. As tempting as the regular 6 was I did not pick one up (yet). Love the flat screen and just the way the device feels overall. But not sure I could deal with the lower amount of storage or no telephoto. Screen looks just as nice to my old eyes. Only other thing that might make a difference would be the 12gb of RAM vs 8. Gonna sit on it a bit and wait till the end of the return period for my 6 Pro before I try the 6. I really don't have any complaints about the 6. Don't care for the curved edges but I just don't see it as a deal breaker.

I moved from an S8 to the 6 Pro. So I can't weigh in on comparisons between all of the latest phones. I mean - I bought the S8 (from owning a Note 5) right before the S10 was released because they practically gave it to me free along with their newer VR headset. That being said - the 6 pro, on its own is one helluva device all around. I have to get used to pure android (12), all of the settings, etc. But so far, other than how slippery it is without a case, I'm really happy.

Last night I ended the day without about 58 percent battery left with "typical" usage. My S8 (granted it's old) would need a charging boost around 3pm or earlier if I wanted it to last the rest of the evening. So perhaps my bar is also low in that I'm happy to have a device that I can use all day without really checking the battery percentage anymore.

Loving the Pixel. Just a few issues, though.

- The suggested wallpaper colors never actually match the colors (see my Lock Screen below to see what I mean; the baby blue looks awful against the dark wallpaper; the other color options were even worse). I wish Google at least allowed us to pick the specific color we want instead of this nonsense. None of the basic colors work, either. I don't understand why they can't offer white, black, and grey as basic colors. It doesn't make any sense to me.

- I am finally receiving all of my Twitter notifications, but there are still delays with notifications in comparison to my iPhone. I also get the occasional issue where my notifications all come in once I unlock the phone. This is the biggest reason why I could never switch to Android full-time. :(

- I wish there were better browser options. No browser touches the functionality and beauty of Safari for me. I've tried them all, including Samsung Internet. :(

- For the love of God, Google, please demand that app makers make the home bar float instead of having a background behind it. Ugh. Even some of Google's own apps still have a background behind the bar. I just don't understand why Google can't get its **** together when it comes to the home bar.

Otherwise, I am really enjoying the phone. If these four things would be fixed, I would consider switching to my Pixel full-time.
