Ok so I snapped a photo of my cat with my Pixel 6 Pro and my iPhone XR. Most of my indoor snaps have been a bit cool toned but this is a bit much. I took several and the results were the same. They're both cropped so ignore anything lacking in image quality. This is about the color temperature. The Xr is exactly how the colors are supposed to be. They're as they appeared to my eyes. In some respects this is better than I would have gotten with the 13 Pro which was over sharpening my photos.

But the 6Pro turned my gray tabby cat blue!

I'm not really sure how to fix this blue tone. Editing it to warm it up made it look awful.

Edit: Oh thank goodness, I found the color temperature slider! I can't fix this photo but my others should be better. The default setting was crazy blue!

Yes, this is the Pixel I wanted. Went to T-Mobile, looked at the regular Pixel 6, and fell in love. They offered me $450 off if trade-in my Pixel 4 XL, I said YEP.

This is what I wanted, a flat screen, better grip, and looks and feels more like a Google phone. Picked out the Seafoam Green color, super funky and cool :) So far only having it a brief period, it feels every bit as snappy as my 6 Pro, can't really notice any performance difference.

I just didn't care for the curved edge display on the 6 Pro, just not my cup of tea. Plus for me, it was just too large of a phone, awfully big. To me the perfect size phone is the Pixel 4 XL, the width and height is dang near ideal, for me. And this Pixel 6 is almost identical in size to 4 XL.

Yeah this sounds more like your vibe! Lol maybe mine, too, ordinarily. Good luck with it. I hope this is THE One for you.

The 6 Pro is perhaps a little too competitive with my s21 Ultra. They're so alike in size and feel they're almost in the same niche. But the S21 Ultra has the S Pen and the 6 Pro has the cameras I want, blue cats notwithstanding. 🤣

Fortunately most of my indoor photos are great.

I have also experienced some wild inaccuracies with the Pixel 6 Pro. The odd, and frustrating, part is that it captures incredible amounts of detail in RAW but then the software messes everything up. Hopefully they gather enough feedback and data quickly to push out an update.

Did you just point and shoot?

If so next time try tapping in the cat for focus first which might then adjust white balance and if what you see on the screen still does not match try using the white balance slider before snapping the pic and see if that works. Also check to make sure you did not accidentally hit the temperature slider on the left side as it will change to color to blue. I have not tried taking a pic with anything gray but might have to to see what happens as well

I always wanted a Pixel with top end hardware but something about the 6 Pro didn’t feel right (the curved screen being the main culprit). The 6 is just perfect and everything I wanted at an incredible value. I will miss the telephoto lens but I don’t know that there is anything else about the 6 Pro that I prefer over the 6.

Gonna have to go check out a regular 6 at my local BB and see if I can tell a difference and which I like more.

Yes. And thanks. I found the color temperature slider. It showed up after I literally poked around at the display a bit.

Ok so apparently my white balance color slider somehow got pushed all the way to blue. I discovered it exists at all while taking video. Fortunately it exists for still photos, too. You need to tap on the screen. The software does at time overprocess the image but that is also true of my iphone 13 Pro. Some of my 13 Pro pictures look sort of CGI. Both Apple and Google need to fine tune the algorithms and reduce the artificial look.

I do feel tap to focus makes images far better for me just seems to have better overall colours

If you like to tinker go turn on “RAW/JPEG control” in the camera settings under advanced. You can drop them into something as simple as Google’s Snapseed and turn out some incredible photos. As a warning, the file sizes are much larger than the default HDR photos so you won’t want to keep your phone in that format but it’s fun for occasional shots.

NEON CATE OMG

So gorgeous kitty.

Yeah the 6 Pro is a beast for sure, superb smartphone, and super smooth fast, zero lag. I did like it a lot. But the size FOR ME was just too much, felt uncomfortably large like I'd drop it easily one handed. But it certainly does feel and look and operate like a higher end phone than the Pixel 6.

But the biggest thing was the curved edge display, just not a fan, every time I looked at it, it screamed Samsung, and I do not like Samsung Galaxy phones at all. But not just that, the rounded sides really serve no purpose, certain websites show things on the corner edge and it's weird looking and tapping that on the rounded slant was annoying. And the grip, I like to squeeze or hold my phone tight, my Pixel 4 XL I could death grip that thing and hold it very well, the 6 Pro I felt I'd crack it holding like that, or unwanted touches on the rounded display.

Anyways, my quick review, the Pixel 6 is just more comfortable and easier device for me to operate. But the 6 Pro is a better higher end smartphone, no doubt.

Pixel 6 ordered from Amazon here in the UK and arriving on Saturday. In the end I decided that would be the best device for me (this YouTube video helped with the final decision -
), given I've already got two other flagship devices.

Can't wait to get it now - I have a Pixel void in my life after selling my Pixel 5 a month or so ago.

I'm happy you found the one that is perfect for you to use daily. Like I always say it's all about personal preference. Gotta take care of number one...

Thank you! Good to know. Sigh...now wishing my order for the 512 gb hadn't been canceled by Google Store!

I am really loving this phone. I did take a 4k 60 video today. The phone didnt get hot while making the video which was close to 5 minutes. But it got a bit warm during playback.

I noticed a juddery look in the display while panning across a scene of trees. But when I played the video back everything looked really nice. I played with white balance while recording. I practiced focusing first on a fence then on the scene past the fence. It did well once I got a feel for what I was doing.

I don't see how this is as "bad" at video compared to iPhone like some reviewers are saying.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to test my 13 Pro video in great depth, but I know good and well my 12 Pro Max and 12 mini video was far from perfect and at times had some disturbing artifacts especially when panning across a room.
~~~~~
I seem to be okay on this display but switching back and forth between this display and the one on my Xr can give me a bit of a headache for a few minutes. If I stick to one or the other I seem okay. So far I don't get the same sensations the 13 Pro produced from the first few days of use.
Once the protective sleeve arrives I'll be able to carry the 6 Pro around and use it for everything but iMessage and calls from my primary number. For that I'll use my Apple Watch. Then I can stick consistently to one display. Oh, I'll also still need my Xr in the car for Apple Maps and its turn by turn integration with Apple Watch.
NEON CATE OMG
So gorgeous kitty.
Thank you. Now that I have discovered the white balance controls I am going to turn my other cats neon blue! But it does work best with her since she is a grey tabby and it's just a little bit of work to turn her blue in the right lighting! 😂
The Quadra review™
The design 9-10
Polarizing is a correct word for it, some love it, some think it looks like some sort of 70s appliance (I didn't ask). Me, I like how it looks like no other phone on the market, and while it is a black slab, it still has a great aesthetic that is unique, and not another copycat with 5+ circles on the back in a typical cluster.
Battery Life 10-10
Nothing short of amazing, a 2 day phone for me and my screen time is typically 4-6 hours a day
Performance 10-10 (Android)
No complaints, moving up from a pixel 3, the speed of this device is nothing to scoff at. I am baffled with how well it does with live captions (I never turn it off) and with immediate translations from English to German IN the live captions. Amazing.
Screen quality 8-10 (Brightness in sharp daylight could be better)
I am a photographer, I value an accurate color palette, and good overall contrast that doesn't look like the phone has some sort of POP filter, clarity slider, or texture jacked to 11. I understand there are different profiles on Android phones, but I detest many brands default saturation and overall look, the pixel is just right.
Looking at color corrected photos from my main editing machine on my Pixel 6 as compared to my iPhone 13 Pro, the differences are minimal. The Pixel looks slightly less saturated, with the iPhone being more true to my calibrated monitor. That said, the Pixel 6 is more accurate than my 3.
PPI of this screen is good enough to my eyes that I can't detect the lesser grade as compared to my iPhones
Hardware feel 10-10 (especially for the price)
This phone feels more premium than my beloved Pixel 3, which cost much more, and only has 64gb of space compared to this 129gb with more cameras and a larger screen.
Cameras (Photos) 8-10
I don't miss, nor do I ever really use Zoom on any of my cameras. I remember getting my 1st zoom phone (iPhone X) and how quickly I wished it had wide angle (for my google reviews) as opposed to Zoom. I actually used the front ultra wide camera on the Pixel 3, more than I used the Zoom on Any of my zoom iPhones. In fact, it has made profile picture on many businesses within Google Maps. It is nice to use a Pixel with a back wide camera, as opposed to blindly turning my screen at businesses to take a wide dining room shot for a google review. (yes I got award looks often with my Pixel 3).
Cameras (Videos) 7-10
Video quality and stabilization are awesome. I place video quality higher than the S21U I tested in October, The pixel dropped less frames, and has better OIS and digital IS. Colors are a bit washed out (even loving neutral tones), and I find the Cinematic pan neat, but useless in my editing. The Depth feature on the iPhone is far more useful, though a bit fake when you look deeply too. The colors can be fixed in post, so I am not worried about it.
Even with the far greater video, it still drops frames far more than the iPhone 13 Pro when at 60 FPS. When shooting at 30 FPS it is as good as iPhone in my testing.
I am hoping the stuttering in video is just an artifact that will get resolved with updates. With Lumefusion (Video editing software) finally coming to Android, I will for sure be using this camera in my workflow for clients quick social media videos and interviews.
USB-C 100000-10
This phone is more "PRO" than iPhone. I can connect my Canon EOS-R and EOS-R5 directly. While this phone will not replace my iPad mini 6 as my main quick video / photo editing tool, I see myself using it much more often in a pinch.
Perhaps Tensor will be better at video editing than the iPad mini 6, but will have to wait for the pubic release of LumeFusion.
Call Quality (earpiece) 10-10
Noise cancel is great on the earpiece, volume is mind blowing, louder than my iPhone 13 Pro
Call Quality (Speakerphone) 7-10
The Pixel 3 is far better as it has 2 good sized forward facing speakers with better dynamic range. I am actually disappointed with the speakers on the regular 6.
Overall, for $600 this phone is insane, it is professional, it is good to look at, and is a joy to use. Daily screen time has been ⅔ higher on this device than my 13 pro, and the 13 pro has my work profile, email and other work tools where the Pixel doesn't. ;) .
All Said, I still love my 13 pro. It just does some things the pixel just can't, and with a far superior video system and editing tools (for now), it is going to remain my workhorse for client videos, quick spot interviews.
My skin arrived for my 6 Pro.
Dreadful. Absolutely dreadful.
Looked like I'd just wrapped the back of the phone in sellotape. ??.
Needless to say it got peeled off and binned haha.
I'll stick to my case!
Was the the UK based skin? I don't know who posted that they ordered one. I have a cart from a place in the UK but haven't taken the plunge yet.
I am debating clear cases on Amazon, but I don't like gloss TPU , all I can seem to find, and I don't want to spend $35+ shipping for some of the the other options shared here, or that I have found. :( .
I bought this case on Ebay for $3.24 and what I like most about it besides showing off the Coral color is that it’s a soft clear case. It almost feels rubbery and it has corner cushions if you were to drop it. Some of the clear cases I have purchased in the past felt like a hard shell.
Edit: Ringke sells a matte clear case on Ebay for $12.99
