The Quadra review™
The design 9-10
Polarizing is a correct word for it, some love it, some think it looks like some sort of 70s appliance (I didn't ask). Me, I like how it looks like no other phone on the market, and while it is a black slab, it still has a great aesthetic that is unique, and not another copycat with 5+ circles on the back in a typical cluster.
Battery Life 10-10
Nothing short of amazing, a 2 day phone for me and my screen time is typically 4-6 hours a day
Performance 10-10 (Android)
No complaints, moving up from a pixel 3, the speed of this device is nothing to scoff at. I am baffled with how well it does with live captions (I never turn it off) and with immediate translations from English to German IN the live captions. Amazing.
Screen quality 8-10 (Brightness in sharp daylight could be better)
I am a photographer, I value an accurate color palette, and good overall contrast that doesn't look like the phone has some sort of POP filter, clarity slider, or texture jacked to 11. I understand there are different profiles on Android phones, but I detest many brands default saturation and overall look, the pixel is just right.
Looking at color corrected photos from my main editing machine on my Pixel 6 as compared to my iPhone 13 Pro, the differences are minimal. The Pixel looks slightly less saturated, with the iPhone being more true to my calibrated monitor. That said, the Pixel 6 is more accurate than my 3.
PPI of this screen is good enough to my eyes that I can't detect the lesser grade as compared to my iPhones
Hardware feel 10-10 (especially for the price)
This phone feels more premium than my beloved Pixel 3, which cost much more, and only has 64gb of space compared to this 129gb with more cameras and a larger screen.
Cameras (Photos) 8-10
I don't miss, nor do I ever really use Zoom on any of my cameras. I remember getting my 1st zoom phone (iPhone X) and how quickly I wished it had wide angle (for my google reviews) as opposed to Zoom. I actually used the front ultra wide camera on the Pixel 3, more than I used the Zoom on Any of my zoom iPhones. In fact, it has made profile picture on many businesses within Google Maps. It is nice to use a Pixel with a back wide camera, as opposed to blindly turning my screen at businesses to take a wide dining room shot for a google review. (yes I got award looks often with my Pixel 3).
Cameras (Videos) 7-10
Video quality and stabilization are awesome. I place video quality higher than the S21U I tested in October, The pixel dropped less frames, and has better OIS and digital IS. Colors are a bit washed out (even loving neutral tones), and I find the Cinematic pan neat, but useless in my editing. The Depth feature on the iPhone is far more useful, though a bit fake when you look deeply too. The colors can be fixed in post, so I am not worried about it.
Even with the far greater video, it still drops frames far more than the iPhone 13 Pro when at 60 FPS. When shooting at 30 FPS it is as good as iPhone in my testing.
I am hoping the stuttering in video is just an artifact that will get resolved with updates. With Lumefusion (Video editing software) finally coming to Android, I will for sure be using this camera in my workflow for clients quick social media videos and interviews.
USB-C 100000-10
This phone is more "PRO" than iPhone. I can connect my Canon EOS-R and EOS-R5 directly. While this phone will not replace my iPad mini 6 as my main quick video / photo editing tool, I see myself using it much more often in a pinch.
Perhaps Tensor will be better at video editing than the iPad mini 6, but will have to wait for the pubic release of LumeFusion.
Call Quality (earpiece) 10-10
Noise cancel is great on the earpiece, volume is mind blowing, louder than my iPhone 13 Pro
Call Quality (Speakerphone) 7-10
The Pixel 3 is far better as it has 2 good sized forward facing speakers with better dynamic range. I am actually disappointed with the speakers on the regular 6.
Overall, for $600 this phone is insane, it is professional, it is good to look at, and is a joy to use. Daily screen time has been ⅔ higher on this device than my 13 pro, and the 13 pro has my work profile, email and other work tools where the Pixel doesn't.

.
All Said, I still love my 13 pro. It just does some things the pixel just can't, and with a far superior video system and editing tools (for now), it is going to remain my workhorse for client videos, quick spot interviews.
