My one issue with iOS, sometimes I get my email on a day or two after someone sent it. This has caused me some embarrassment with the other moms I work with on school stuff, who wonder why I ignored their time sensitive emails. It doesn’t happen often, but it’s been happening for several years, and it’s happened enough I am having to remember to check my Samsung (or now my new Pixel) to make sure I am getting my emails on time.I agree. In no way is iOS "complete crap." I much prefer the aesthetics of stock Android, but I could never use my Pixel as my daily driver; it is less reliable than my iPhone. I get delayed and missing notifications on my Pixel in comparison to my iPhone. Mail notifications usually come in ten to fifteen minutes later than my iPhone. Apps are definitely more polished and useful on iOS. iOS is more reliable and stable.
Also, like you, I love the smaller refinements iOS 15 brings. The OS is even more cohesive now. I especially love the new Safari updates, especially bottom navigation and extensions. No browser on Android matches Safari.
I love my Pixel, but iOS is the better OS in terms of security and reliability.
My husband has had the same complaints about notifications that you’ve had. He’s never putting the iPhone down as a daily driver. Though for experimentation he has done so for several months at a time in the past. He lived on his Pixel 3XL for several months, as he dealt with his mom’s declining health. The call screen feature helped him through that time so much.
I only need notifications for my emails and iMessage. Otherwise notifications drive me nuts and I turn them off, which my husband finds weird and amusing. Meanwhile when I’ve had to borrow his phone, notifications never stop coming in and I don’t know how he stands it.
I only have Twitter for social media and there’s nobody there I need to speak to on a timely basis. Lol such is the life of a disconnected old fart!
