I have had a couple of the pixel devices. If I had to choose android again, the pixel is what I would use. It was a very amazing device. I would take one over a Samsung note or S series anyway. I highly recommend the pixel lineup.

Surprisingly they are very close in size. You can see them here next to a Pixel 5 and a 3XL.

I am so impatient now. Just give it to me already.

The difference isn’t really much, after all. My husband said I can go for it on launch because of the supply chain issues and the fact I am willing to trade my green 12 mini that I originally was going to withhold to trade for a 13 mini. With my plans to get a 13 mini ended, it’s not such a huge flipping deal to go for it.

I really hope that we are all pleased with this device as the tech nerds we are!

Google has set the bar so high with smartphone photography so the expectations for us all who have used Pixels before is sky high!

I want it to be a success for them I really do.

I really would want a Pixel fabric case but all the rumors point to Google not making those this year. I ordered the ultra hybrid with black border. Lol to make whatever I get look like the regular Pixel 6!
I like the fabric cases but they make the phone chunky IMO... I got one clear Hybrid no borders and Thin Fit for the P6 Pro.

Haha exactly hopefully they don't have too many issues initially.. I can see the complaints coming in for early adopters.. But hey we are tech nerds someone has to test drive stuff... Lol

They just need to do better than my 13 Pro, which should not be hard this time, unfortunately. Judging from what I’ve read of other people’s comments the unpleasantness I’ve noticed is due to iOS 15. I’ve had my camera app freeze. I’ve had the camera not know which lens to use and eat up precious time switching between ultra wide and normal wide for close-up shots. I’ve had the camera be slow to wake up and focus. It will focus fast if I close out of the app and immediately reopen. But initially it’s like it needs a morning coffee. I haven’t had such issues on the 12 mini or my now traded in 12 Pro Max on iOS 14.

I have not had good HDR in selfies. Selfies at the beach have had blown out backgrounds. My s21 Ultra did better. So I’m hoping I will get better results from the Pixel.

I have liked my night life photos on my 13 Pro. I do still consider my results an overall improvement over the 12 Pro Max. But there are some hiccups with iOS 15.

I’m hoping Android 12 is better. But I’m not holding my breath. I’m kind of resigned to being patient and tolerant with both platforms. For Google this is a recalibrated hardware strategy. For Apple, it’s one of their off years and they’re going to be doing a lot of cleanup in iOS.

Has anyone decided on a colour, or are you waiting for the announcement? Definitely white for me, with 1 clear case and 1 matte black case. I've always loved the Google fabric cases, but they look grubby after a few weeks. If they don't do them this year, I'm sure they'll have some kind of official case.

I'll be keeping a close eye on the store during the event, because they just put them up for pre order without warning.

It'll be nice to get back to a Pixel after so long without one. And hopefully I'll get to use it abroad now travel is becoming easier.

Pixel pass seems to be a US only thing :( looks like EE on annual upgrade on contract is the way to go for me.

The white/cream looks really good but think I’m settled on the black. Will go with my other devices although with the google homes and mini’s in the house white would fit in nicely with the google colour scheme.

Normally I’d prefer the white, but they all look equally good to me. I guess I’ll get whatever I can get on the day. It’s going into a Spigen case that’s only partially clear.

So is the regular Pixel 6 coming with a 120hz or 90hz refresh rate display?

I keep reading conflicting reports, and this one from just this week, states 120hz for both Pixel phones;

Display

  • Pixel 6: 6.4-inch, Full HD+, 120Hz
  • Pixel 6 Pro: 6.7-inch, Quad HD+, 120Hz
The Google Pixel 6 is said to be coming with a 6.4-inch display, which as we mentioned, is flat. It's claimed it will sport a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Everything Ive read says the regular Pixel 6 will have a 1080 display with "smooth motion" which is what Google has previously called their 90hz display. I would expect something similar to whats on the current Pixel 5. So basically it switches variably from 60hz to 90hz depending on whats on the screen.

The Pro has the QHD LTPO display. So I would expect dynamic refresh from 10-120hz.

Okay so we discussed colors. What storage size are you all getting? On my Samsung I’m using 184.8 GB out of 512 GB. My 13 Pro is 512 GB but I’m using only 64 gb out of that because a lot of stuff is still on my mini. And it is not a copy of my mini. It’s set up as a new and separate device. And I haven’t yet put all of my apps on it. I was in the process of doing that when the eye pain got to me. I’m not sure ultimately what my storage needs will be on it.

I don’t know that I necessarily need as much storage on the Pixel as I did on the Samsung. I took a LOT of videos on my Samsungs over the years and those videos were on the SD card and I took the contents of the SD card and put it on my S21 Ultra.

I am not sure how much storage the photos and videos will take on the Pixel. I was going to get just 128 GB but maybe I’ll go up to 256 GB to be on the safe side. 512 is likely to cost a fortune.

Depends on price and availability. I'll aim for 256GB model but I can make 128GB work. 512GB is overkill for me.

I'm going with the Pixel 6 Pro in sand/yellow/gold whatever they call it and I'm ordering as soon as orders open up.

This is going to be my first Pixel. I'm ordering because I want a dual SIM Android smartphone and Samsung has been dragging its feet on eSIM.
I have a feeling we are all gonna break their website! Mash those buttons! I need to process a trade in so I’m probably going to lag behind y’all. I don’t know what color is going to be easiest to get. That’s what I will try for if I know.

Usually they seem to run out of black last. I could try for that. I don’t typically go for black and grey, but I’m loving my black s21 Ultra so it’s fine if I get a black Pixels. If I were getting a regular 6 I would set my heart on a color. With the 6 Pro it’s not as important because all the colors are fairly neutral.

Pocket Now says there WILL be fabric cases; the fabric is made from recycled plastic. That’s fine. Once my Pixels go into their fabric suits they’re rarely naked.

With Pixels and the fabric cases it’s the one and basically only situation with smartphones where I look forward to the cases as much as I do the phone.

With other phones, I’m reluctantly covering them and leave them naked when I can safely do so. I have to cover iPhones so I don’t drop their slippery selves.

Hmm…not sure there are fabric cases after all. I’m seeing conflicting rumors.

here’s a leak of a photo of a case:

I'd pay more for the fabric cases, but those don't seem any better than a £10 case from the likes of Spigen/ESR etc.

The fabric cases look great but they aren't practical IMO. They offer almost no drop/screen protection, get dirty easily, and are hard to clean. Not to mention they are way overpriced.

The Google fabric case is what I put on my 4a 5G and it was super easy to clean. I used a clean cotton shirt, some liquid hand soap with some water and after a few minutes I let it dry and it looked as good as new. I soiled it up pretty bad because at the time my job was doing oil changes and changing tires so it got pretty dirty especially on the sides.
