Wow, Best Buy really has a great deal on the regular Pixel 7. If I trade in my Pixel 6, after rewards applied, it’ll cost $31. That’s nuts!

FYI:

For the Pro:

Amazon - $200 gift card
Best Buy - $200 gift card
Target - $200 gift card
Google Store - $200 store credit

$100 gift card for the Pixel 7 for those same places.

Thanks for the list. For me, the Google offer makes the most sense since i’ll be buying a pair of Pixel Buds Pro.

There isn’t for the 6 series. Only 5 and below. Kinda like Samsung was only taking older Pixels or iPads earlier this year when I checked. Weird.
Where do you go to trade in on Amazon? I didn't see that as an option while adding the 7 Pro to my cart.

nvm: I found it and it's only worth $105 for the P4a. I'll stick with Google's offer of $300.

Happy for those getting the 7 lineup and interested to see how these phones are. But it’s a definite no for me. At the very least I wanted to see Google address the common problems with the 6 lineup and they’ve cut corners again. Still using a crappy optic FP sensor instead of ultrasonic. And they included face unlock but it’s such a half assed effort it can’t even be used for authentication other than phone unlock.
it hasn't been confirmed yet that it uses an optical fingerprint sensor, or has it? I don't want to lose hope

What colors are y'all getting? I am trading in my S22 Ultra at BestBuy for a P7P 256GB. I initially went with Obsidian, but thinking of going with one of the other more exciting colors.

It looks the same to me but I did see on the Google Reddit forum that they were promising improved software and upgrades on the biometric fingerprint unlock

From looking at this YouTube video it looks to be the same type sensor as the previous

Based on those who have the phone, the sensor seems to be the same but it now unlocks much quicker, although not as fast as a rear sensor. So it appears it has improved.

Lemongrass. Not a big fan of gold trim but love the pale yellow. Was going to go with Snow as i like the trim better but that Lemongrass kept making me look again and again lol.
Interesting that Google charged me $50 in tax but on Amazon when I was checking it out it was $41 tax.

Someone made a good comment, regarding getting the smaller Pixel 7 for easier handling and one handed operation. Well not really per this person, look at the Pixel 6 next to the 6 Pro, they're actually much closer in size than you'd realize, put them side by side, and the two phones aren't that different in overall size.

My son as the Pixel 5, now that phone is small in a good way, and that can truly be used one handed. Then put the regular Pixel 6 next to the Pixel 5, the P 6 a giant in comparison, huge difference in size.

My point I just say get the 7 Pro with the smoother 120hz display, because in reality the 7 isn't that much smaller, and is still a two handed phone. If you want a much smaller phone, the Pixel 5 is really the only one.

Obsidian Black. I always go black on my phones. I considered maroon on the Fold 4 but it was more of a pinkish maroon to me versus a Texas A&M maroon. If it would have been closer to my college color that would have been the only time I’ve gone anything other than black except back when Samsung only have the option of blue on the S6 and S7 series

I checked trade-in values but it seems for my still-within-warranty 4 XL I get barely anything, under 200 bucks. And none of the newer Pixels ever had the proper 3D face unlock and merely emulate it by taking photos (it doesn't count as biometrics). I really don't want to go back to the inconvenience of using fingerprints.

From looking at how minor the upgrades are this time around, I'd rather get a Pixel 6 since that is now reduced to a bargain price of under 500. Which is just how much I paid for the 4 XL on clearance a while ago. Even the 6 Pro is now down in pricing a bit. As long as you are good with LOS instead of the default Android you'll also get updates to the latest major version for a long time. If it wasn't for LOS my Pixel would already be out of support after three years since initial release. Apple is still so far ahead in that regard and Google just cannot be bothered.

Unless Google gives their latest phones a way to do biometric unlock that's as fast as FaceID or my current face unlock, I will not be spending money on one as I don't see what the really do that much better. Where is the benefit of Tensor G2? I just don't see it.

Just as with my 12 Mini, I don't see any reason to upgrade this year, or next year or the one after that, the latest smartphones just don't do anything that much better.

For a $100 more you could get the Pixel 7 and if you are willing to wait for Black Friday it might get a $100 discount. The Pixel 7 is the better phone between it and the P6 as well as longer support if that's important to you..
