Thanks for your suggestion but I already own two.I am in multiple ecosystems including Microsoft,Apple and Google which is why I can evaluate all of their devices objectively. It just so happens that I have more invested in Apple than Microsoft and Google combined
It certainly seems like Apple products cause you tons of issues. Why continue to use them or buy them? I don't ask that sarcastically... in fact, if I were chronically unsatisfied with any of my devices, I wouldn't buy any more devices from that company.

Exactly. This is a special place... sometimes in good ways, sometimes in bad ways.

Thank you. You've said this better than I've ever been able to. When I'm having an issue with my Apple products, I post a thread asking for help or feedback for the specific issue I'm experiencing. Sometimes I get responses, sometimes I don't. Either way, I stick to the issue at hand, not emotionally pontificate about things that have nothing to do with the issue I'm having. When I need to criticize Apple, I fill out a feedback form on their site that logically and respectfully details the specific thing I'd like them to improve on.

And if I get tired of doing all that? I can always switch to Android. Know your options, and don't let a corporation cloud your emotions.

I have access to an S6 in the other room. The instant Apple doesn't suit my needs, I move. That's what I think everyone should do, like you said.

The device was working fine on iOS 7 which was what I bought it with.It takes 3-5 seconds for typing a word, opening a browser and even a new tab on iOS 9 all of which even those $49 Kindle tablets can do.What will you call this transition which Apple did on this tablet?

I think there's something wrong with your hardware if it's really 3-5 seconds.

Indeed! Sometimes it is just better to let go of things. I love my Apple products, but that's only because they do everything I need in a satisfactory manner. I always keep my eyes on what other companies are doing so that I am informed of my options.

Apart from my iPad Mini,my Air 2 and iPhone 6 were PERFECT on iOS 8.4.1 .There was ZERO lag in Spotlight or control centre and believe me when I say my Air 2 did not know what lag was in the 8-9 months it was on iOS 8 and I loved that tablet.Thing was monstrous.Never lagged no matter what I did.It feels like my iPhone 6 on iOS 8.4.1 would run circles around my current iOS 9 iPhone 6

Its not hardware.Watch this video where the problem shows on iOS 8.Its worse on iOS 9 and HORRIBLE when I am typing in a web browser

That stinks. It's worse with iOS 9? Then that speaks to something I've been thinking for a while. Apple has been heaping features onto iOS for so long that it has become a mess. Now they're branching out more and more, but not adding enough people to the payroll to keep up. Just take a look at what they've done in the past two years that have been rather big changes to iOS.

I did eventually upgrade to a 6s Plus, but 9.0 on my iPhone 6 still ran very well. Not quite as smooth as 8.4.1, but still very usable and fast.

Regarding that video, something is extremely wrong with your iPad. I have never had that problem with any iPad I have owned on any version... I'm not going to bother with the troubleshooting steps, you seem like the kind of person that knows about them and has already done all those things. I'd suggest you take it in to an Apple Store... that's a huge problem.

iOS 10 needs to be all about refinement and performance. Anybody who still thinks iOS is too limited has long since resigned themselves to jailbreaking or Android. There are plenty of great features already, let's see Apple come out with the fastest version of iOS ever!

The last tablet i got was not an Apple device and I'm extremely pleased with it as things stands replacements for the iPad 4's wont be Apple and this is directly related to this issue.

Regardless, safari still shouldn't crash is my point. IOS 7.1.2 hailed as the penultimate for a5 devices, in reality wasn't that great. IOS 8 wasn't apples best work either. IOS 9 is getting there.

We are talking completely different devices here... A4 devices score much lower in every web benchmark than A5 devices, thus Safari crashing in iOS 7.1.2. on an iPhone 4 proves NOTHING about Safari on A5 devices under iOS 7.1.2.

"Wasn't that Great".... I'm not sure you ever used iOS 7? It is clearly 100 times better than iOS 9. iOS 9 does not come close to the speed and stability that iOS 7.1.2 offered on A5 devices. The difference is not even subjective, you must have had a messed up installation of iOS 7 (and probably 8 as well) on your iPad.

Oh please, its possible to have new features and also not to completely ruin performance.

Glad you support an unsustainable and environmental damaging cycle though. But hey Apple is making huge profits, so who cares right??
Thank you for being glad - I appreciate it.

So lets see a hardware company should not do things to convince people to buy hardware. Makes sense to me. Can you effectively run Windows 10 on XP class machines? Can you run the newest version of Oracle on old versions of Linux? Can you watch HD television on old TV's. Progress means new hardware and software.

You can run Windows 10 on quite ancient hardware, much further back then what Apple supports.

Just because the rest of the industry does something, it doesn't mean Apple has to do the same thing. Apple should do its best to ensure that old devices run iOS (Well) for as long as they possibly can, then support devices with security updates after that. Many people will still upgrade for new features and new form factors, but old hardware will remain serviceable and usable for far longer. That is a good thing for both the environment and for consumers.

At the end of the day, if you're not a shareholder, and Apple's profits are more important to you than the environment than there is something wrong.

Actually Windows ran better with each version since 7. 8 was faster on new and old hardware, despite that Modern UI crap. Windows 10 now is even more faster and I'll say it again - on new and old hardware. They've actually lowered the requirements for RAM and disk space, since it runs on tablets as well. We also don't need to buy a new Nvidia/AMD GPU every year to be able to scroll around smoothly in Windows, as some people think this is the norm for iOS.

Of course the installation is "messed up". Same for the 12 IOS 9 devices you tried. :p

I agree that devices up to iPhone 4S had less CPU and GPU power to perform day to day tasks in 2015-2016 but with iPhone 6S/Air 2/Pro nearing Intel Core i3/Atom performance levels, it would be really tough for Apple to make these 3 devices obsolete by slowing them down in next 2-3 years.

If they still manage to slow them down somehow, I will leave for Nexus device.

EDIT: This forum is so much better after blocking obvious people who troll this forum with their blind Apple love. Even their quotes are hidden. Awesome.

Troll means someone who has a different opinion, right?

/s

a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory,[1]extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotionalresponse[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion,[3] often for their own amusement.

People showing blind love towards Apple on a Apple fan site is hardly trolling.

Yeah it is. It's faster on my 5+ year old i5 quad with 8gb of ram Gateway desktop than it was on Windows 7 that it came with. And Windows 7 was no slouch on it!
Software companies try to make their software/OS more efficient and take up less resources. Apple does it to a lesser extent on iOS. They rather sell more hardware. Cause lets face it, without their iPhones and iPods, they won't really be as profitable.

I have a old Windows XP installon against new Windows 8.1 install; dual booted on modern hardware core i7 980. Windows XP is faster than Windows 8.1. So take a chip from 2001 say pentium 4, XP will run away from Windows 8.1; if it even installs.

Of course Apple wants to sell hardware but alienating their user base as you suggest is not the way to do it.

And who decides this is a fan site? I see people who are willing to hand over their soul on a golden platter for free to Tim Cook. But I also see people who have balanced views and call out on Apple's bullcrap whenever they spot some. I find this site to be most balanced site about Apple news where as iAnandTech and iVerge can be termed as pure Apple fan sites with relentless praise in both articles and comment sections.

Trolling in this context was related to turning blind eye to our video and web link proofs about iOS lag and stutter and replying totally out of context by saying "iOS 9 is better because it is stable". Clearly no one is denying stability. It is the UI experience which has gone for the toss on older devices.

Eg.
Member 1: God I hate iOS 9 because my iPad 2 is lagging and stuttering more and more.
Troll: I think you are lying because Safari on my iPad is so much stable.

Member 2: I have posted the video demonstrating lag and stutter at various places. Why don't you post a similar video to prove me wrong.
Troll: The challenge is conveniently ignored with no reply

I think such type of dismissive stuff do start to get on your nerves. It may not fit your classic definition of trolling but hey it's 2016.

First off if you don't think MacRumors is a Apple fan site that's your opinion although the mission statement of the site is that it is dedicated to all things Mac and Apple.

Secondly, If you post a video that shows a problem you are having and I don't have the problem you are reporting why do I need to prove I don't have the problem? that sounds ridiculous.

If every user in the forum complained about iOS 9 performance it still wouldn't represent 1% of total users in the world. People keep forgetting that. It's like drawing a conclusion that only bad things happen in the world because that is all the News reports.

This downward UI spiral started from iOS 8. I don't know but they changed some internal code related to rendering thinking metal api would be better but now everything requires brute horsepower to run smoothly. Otherwise it will drop frames.

And you are taking things to the extreme by comparing hardware from 2001-05 to an OS for 2016.Even though 10 may run slower on that hardware, its nowhere NEAR as slow as iOS 9 is on iPhone 4S.You can still browse using multiple tabs on that hardware.
If you take Windows Vista Era PCs,Windows 10 runs faster on 7 year old hardware as well

And here's something hilarious.Windows 10 on my MBA 2014 actually manages to run faster than both OSX El Capitan and Yosemite. The animations are buttery smooth in Windows whilst being a lag fest on OSX and after installing Trackpad++ for those Mac OSX gestures for WIndows,my MBA runs Windows miles better than OSX does.Planned Obsolescence at its finest. But no way in hell am I upgrading to that Retina Macbook as much as Apple tries to force me to.
