Anybody else considering going back to a plus phone? I’ve been using this X for almost 24 hours and I’m almost convinced it’s too small. I just don’t feel that it’s worth the 1000+ dollars for me. I’m also not convinced on how careful I have to be with this device or I have to purchase AppleCare for another $200. Overall just not impressed. This may be going back and I may stick to my 7+ possibly. Anyone else feel this way?

I feel the same. I’m trying so hard to want to keep the X because I will feel bad returning to Apple.

Yep. I’m actually going to return mine tomorrow for an 8 Plus. The phone is nice but not $1000+ nice. And the display bothers my eyes for some reason. So back to the LCD screen for me.

I don’t feel bad. They didn’t feel bad taking our $1100 or $1200. They won’t feel bad charging us $550 to replace the phone without Apple care if we break it. I have a 7+ with Apple care for another year left. I may just return this x and hopefully grab the x plus next year if they make one. I am trying so hard to convince myself to keep this x as well. I am now setting up my 7+ to play with it again. I will say I immediately missed it once I picked it up. I will say though for the sake of the X, I absolutely love Face ID! It’s so much easier getting into the phone and apps that support it.

I appreciate these responses. I’m glad I stuck with my 8+. I’m holding out for X Plus hopefully next year

I love everything about my X with the exception of the screen in landscape mode. I've had the 6+, 6s+ and 7+. I cringe watching video on the X because I feel I'm giving up too much screen space. I've been hoping for the last 1.5 days that I'll just be okay with the smaller screen size in landscape mode because I really want to keep this phone. Reluctantly, I've just decided to go return it tomorrow and purchase an 8+ instead. I didn't pay much attention ahead of time and when I heard 5.8 inches I assumed the screen would be bigger than the iPhone+ screen. I'm sad to return this but having a smaller screen for video is a compromise I'm not willing to make.

I mean I am fine going to a phone I can actually hold. The phone is great and improves on the 7+ by a decent amount. Better screen, weight, ergonomics, and slightly better camera. Now is it $1000 of an improvement? No. But I didn't pay for this device so I a keeping it for that reason. I would not pay this much for a phone that is just a decent improvement over even say the iPhone 6s. Not that it is Apple's fault or anything. Phones can only improve so much and the iPhone was already an amazing device for a while now.

I do hate how careful I have to be. Apple care's price is just stupid. A $500 repair for back glass while every other phone is a 20 dollar replacement is just ridiculous. Apple really is penny pinching.

I feared the worst as my last three iPhone were all plus models. I thought the keyboard would be too cramped on the more narrow X. I was wrong.

The X keyboard is very usable and my fears were all for naught. Only had my X since 10am but it is sweet! Face ID has worked perfectly. So perfectly I forget it is even working.

Apple has a winner here.

Woah never thought I’d here you say this. Happy you like it though! I adjusted to the keyboard after a few minutes.

Leather case will get some grip to it once it has been used for a while.
Thanks for the tip. In that case I will not return it. The saddle brown leather looks great, but I am afraid it might slip off my hands. But I will still pick the silicone case from the Apple store.

The width in the screen is obviously noticeable. At first it’s a big difference but using it a few days I’m used to it.

I actually prefer the size of the x. It’s eaiser to carry and hold. While I loved my plus I never really did anything on it other than surf, text and social media. I never used it in landscape. I use my iPad for all those types of things. Would I mind if it was a bit wider? No. It’s not a deal breaker for me though.

7+ user here - the X is the perfect size for me. Loving the form factor. No longer when I sit down the first thing I want to do is pull my phone out of my pocket.

Compared the the aluminum 6/7, the X with glass and glossy metal has much more grip. I didn't feel any worry of dropping it like I did the 6/7.

Leather case would be perfectly nice to handle day-to-day, but with how grippy the X is, I'm now only considering it because I love the feel of these leather cases. It's no longer a necessity.

Exactly. I do the same thing. I’m sure I’ll be fine with the X once I receive it

Just started using my X this evening before going out for dinner. Coming from a Plus-sized iPhone for the last three years, all I can say is, "WOW!" This phone is the perfect size. I can actually barely notice that the screen is narrower. Still feels like a nice large screen, and the keyboard doesn't feel as small as the one on the 4.7" iPhones. Also a joy to use one-handed.

Hmm maybe I’ll have to try one out next weekend. The keyboard is my reason for thinking of getting a 7 Plus, as is the price, but if it’s a bigger keyboard then the 4.7” iPhone I may have to take a look.

The X seems a little small. Picked up my 7 Plus and really love the extra screen real estate. Yeah it’s a big slab beast of a phone, but it sure is beautiful. But then I started comparing photos, videos, speaker quality and the X was just way ahead. And I really have quickly come to prefer Face ID over Touch ID and I love the removal of the Home button. I seem to be able to fly around much quicker and multitasking has never been easier. I’d sure hate to give all of that up. It’s going to be a tough choice for sure! Leaning towards sticking with the X but who knows...

I think the size is just right, but then again I always felt the plus model was a little too large. Being able to use my X with one hand is a nice change for me.

Unfortunately returning my new X to keep my 7 Plus as well.

I can get by with the height difference, I can’t get by with the loss of width. I like the feel and look of my plus. The X was just too small for me.

Hopefully Apple will release something better next year.

Really torn on this one. I want to love it. I do love the overall size and how it fits in my pocket. The narrow screen and the keyboard are going to be tough adjustments for me. This is the first time I've ever not been 100% confident with my upgrade. I need to use it a few days during the work week with emails, etc. and think about it.

Still can't get Wifi calling to active with AT&T either.

There was too much push from Apple on this one. The early release to handpicked reviewers is what did it for me. It made me wait until I actually had my hands on it. The device is narrow, and any true iPhone plus user will hate that screen. You lose Realestate on videos and apps. The notch area is damn new pointless if you truly think about it. You can get the same functionality that is available on the sides of the notch, easier on the plus models.

The whole OLED thing really isn't even that much of a difference. The potential for a much brighter and deeper colored screen is there, but they clearly can't due to battery life and burn-in.

They did an awesome job marketing this phone. It is a new iPhone. Once again, like going from the iPhone 6s to the 7 (headphone jack), you are technically losing a key feature that you actually use a lot (Touch ID). If the X was closer to the 8 plus size vice the smaller 8, I would probably feel better about the compromise in video/app screen size. Simply too small and less functional. I gained nothing in the apps that I normally use, calendar, text, mail, and a todo app.

All things considered, if I had a 7+, I would have kept it. All out on the table, I am coming from a long in the tooth, battered 6+. If it would have had 2gigs of RAM, I probably would have kept it. I ended up trapping an 8+ and calling it a day.

I like watching those animoji videos though.

Love it! Still have my large screen size and it is so much easier to hold in my hand and place in my pocket. I find myself actually using the reader mode on safari though because some sites are not displaying properly...

Traded in my 7 Plus for the X on Friday. I have to say, I'm shocked at how seamlessly Face ID works - I almost forget it's doing anything. Flawless, for me at least. And I've managed to get "swipe up to get to home screen" into muscle memory. Those are the two things I wasn't sure about coming into it, and they've turned out to be non-issues. I'm loving my X!

Not at all. In fact, the 6, 7, 8 standard and Plus feel archaic now. The home button is clumsy compared to the swiping. The OS is so much smoother to operate without it. The only thing I could see people not liking is landscape mode. That is clearly better on the Plus, but I never use landscape. It was one of the reasons I went Plus in the first place, but just never found it to actually be useful. If you are a big landscape user though, then the X will definitely disappoint. As for everything else, the X is a pretty big leap in terms of where iOS is going.
