I'm happy to have moved on from the Plus to the X. I never want a phone that large ever again. However the one thing I miss is the larger letter keys on the keyboard.

So far so good and I don’t miss the plus...I am missing the tab bar in landscape Safari. I have the setting on but it doesn’t show. Anyone know the deal with this?

As someone who had owned all 4 plus phones I honestly haven't got an issue with the narrower screen.

With the X being so much smaller in stature to the plus devices it kind of makes up for it, I didnt actually notice until reading this thread.

Sizing it up against my 8 plus the width of the X is almost the same as just the screen.

I do miss the tabs in safari, I dont miss the home screen changing orientation in landscape mode.

Not sure yet. Love the X screen. Miss the polish of everything else with the Plus as some of the comments prior to mine allude to. I still may return, grab the 8 plus, and wait for an X plus. And this is someone who really appreciates OLED, and all the tech packed in the X.

I’m heavily debating the 8 Plus. I’m going to give the X maybe a full week but I’m just not in love. It feels like a little toy if I’m honest. The camera is awesome but if the 8 Plus has the same camera...

The size is perfect for my hand. Now I can operate my phone with one hand very comfortably.
I did this all the time with my 7 Plus. I only text with my right thumb and it still was no big deal.

Its not bigger its narrow and feels a lot smaller

I like my new X - but I actually wish it were bigger. Seems a bit small to me (especially coming from an iPhone 6s Plus). Why didn't they make it bigger or come out with 2 versions.

feels much narrower, if you are used to the plus size and enjoy the real estate on it, you will be dissapointed.. I am pretty dissapointed but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

I've had a 7+ for the last year and the X definitely feels much smaller. If it were at least a little wider it'd help. The perfect phone would be an X+. The X is definitely not comparable to the size + line. That said, Face ID is amazing and I couldn't go back to Touch ID at this point. Little features like hiding messages unless I'm looking at the phone are remarkable.

Really hasn’t bothered me at all. Ok, the first hour or so it is noticeably different in some apps, but it would be, the screen is slightly narrower.

However for me, it quickly became a non-issue I don’t notice it now.
I’m a primary portrait mode user, I only go into landscape for videos and games which isn’t all that often. So for me it’s no biggie.

I’m liking the extra real estate in portrait mode though, that I do notice. As much as I’ve loved having the Plus sized iPhones the past few years, I’m preferring the size of the X, it’s a small compromise to make for a device that feels a lot better in my hand. But that of course is a personal preference.

Oh, and I don’t have small hands, I could easily wrap my hand around the Plus and reach everything, but the X just feels so natural in my hand. I would definitely consider an X Plus though when it inevitably happens.

I feared the worst as my last three iPhone were all plus models. I thought the keyboard would be too cramped on the more narrow X. I was wrong.

The X keyboard is very usable and my fears were all for naught. Only had my X since 10am but it is sweet! Face ID has worked perfectly. So perfectly I forget it is even working.

Apple has a winner here.

Keyboard is great... in portrait mode. In landscape it takes up too much space.

That's what next year is for.

I'll be looking forward to it then and using my X in the meantime.

The X feels better in the hand than the 7+. Yes, it’s a bit narrower, and the keyboard keys are closer together, but everything else is so much better on the X that it’s a small concession.

I preferred the screen on my 8+. Not the size, but the color. My x screen is a mixture of pee yellow and light brown. I have fiddled with all of the settings to get it as close to the color temp I like but it is not as vibrant or “clean” in the color gamut. I have never had a display I didn’t love in an iPhone, this is a first.

Turn off True Tone, that's all.

ive owned the last two iterations of the plus, love the size, but I’ve transitioned to the X, which I am hearing is noticeably smaller in screen real estate, so I’m wondering how the transition feels so far?

My X is on the delivery truck as I type so I can provide my two cents later, but curious to get feedback from those that have already been lucky enough to use their new toy.

I am excited about the size... I have my phone case and already like the size. More screen and less extra space around the screen that made the plus bulky. Time for a change!

People keep saying the X screen is smaller but that's really only true in landscape. In portrait it is showing exactly the same amount of text if I load this thread on both phones. That's a win when you consider how much smaller the X is and how much easier it is to use one-handed. Touch ID hasn't been working consistently on my 6S+ for a while so my experience may be different from those coming from properly functioning 6/7/8's. I can't say that I noticed much difference from OLED but I do really like the True Tone display after getting used to it on the new iPad Pros. Not that you need to get the X in order to get True Tone.

The form factor of the X is what I've been wishing for ever since the 6/6+ launched. It doesn't force you to compromise on screen size if you prefer a smaller form factor.

It looks like I'm in the minority here, but rough. Very rough. I had an iPhone 6 Plus and an iPhone 7 Plus, and after day or two of owning my first one I really fell in love with that size. Moving to the iPhone X's taller but narrower display has made typing and using heavily visual applications - such as photography, VSCO, watching movies - feel noticeably worse. I am a little nervous.

Yeah, I returned mine today and grabbed an 8 Plus. I wish I was in the camp that didn’t care about the screen size difference but it bothered me too much.

I’m glad to see this post from you! After seeing your original post about keyboard, it was the first thing I checked when I got my X. I was very surprised with how well the keyboard is designed.

I’m right there with you. I love Face ID and the lack of a home button, but I cannot get used to this screen. I know that it’s not, but it feels SO narrow because of how tall the screen is. Most of my apps haven’t updated yet, which I know will happen with time, but is still frustrating.

I also cannot stand how they designed the layout for when a keyboard is on the screen. It gives you a bezel amount of space at the bottom which leaves you with a non-plus sized screen area up top. I also didn’t realize how much I enjoyed having a larger screen for the camera.

These are all not huge issues and I have no issue admitting that they’re personal. This phone is incredible and I cannot overstate how much I enjoy the lack of a button/gestures.

I’m not sure that I’ll keep this phone, but I’m so happy that the majority seems to be enjoying theirs.

My biggest pet peeve is that I have to be in an app to bring up that multi app screen.. I can’t seem to do it from default home screen / background.

The screen makes me feel like I’m in snap chat all day b/c anyone whose ever exported snaps knows...

You don’t have to be in an app to bring up the app switcher. Thumb or finger up and hold, then it will come up.

I disagree. Swiping up from the bottom goes home. When I close an app, I’m swiping from the middle or bottom-middle of the screen. I don’t understand why apple makes us long press first.
Yup....this is driving me nuts....I miss where we swipe up to close apps....Now, there are times when I will swipe in the middle trying to get home and nothing happens. Just not used to swiping at the bottom of the screen......smh

I notice video apps are hit or miss on being optimized. Netflix and YouTube work with the new layout. HBO Now and Amazon Prime don't. Watching movies on those apps is pretty miserable.
