Battery was draining about 10% per hour on average on idle for the iPhone 4S. It's been very stable since the update. No issue with iPhone 4, iPad, iPad 2 and the iPod touch.

I'm one of those people who have seen battery life get a little worse since the update. However, before receiving 5.0.1 iCloud was not syncing to my devices and I was not getting push notifications from iCloud, particularly to my MobileMe email. So I attribute the slightly lower batter performance as being used for iCloud to function properly. It's only been one day though so I plan to reset my phone this evening and run the battery all the way down.

No problems before the update....will see if I have more life at the end of the day after the update. But I usually have about 39% when I leave work...and I use my phone a LOT.

Its coming upto to 730pm and after a full charge overnight im at 23%.

I have made NO phone calls.
I have made NO text messages.
Took 2 photos and sent them via imessage via 3g.
I listened to several podcasts - maybe 1.5 hours.
I listened to radio over WiFi for maybe 1.5 hours.
I used Taskpaper on and off all day syncing with dropbox.
3G is on when im out of wifi range.
Sent & received maybe 20 iMessages throughout day.
Used safari for maybe 3 minutes.
Used various other non intensive apps for 1 min from time to time eg pocket money, ical, email.
blah

23%? Not good.

Before iOS5 im guessing id have around 60% left at end of day then end of next day id recharge.

Needs fixing.

Guys i think i fixed it not sure, i have the battery problem with my 4s, i installed the OTA update but still had the Battery drain also before i had battery problems.

i did recover my phone an installed it as a NEW IPHONE then i set the back up and charged it to 100%, after 30 minuts still 100% played some fruitninja and browsed in safari and battery is 100% before it would be 95-90% at this time.

so guys DOWNLOAD update on ITUNES, recover your phone and install it as new phone it might work.

usage 17 minuts
standby 35 minuts

battery 100% , before this wasnt possible.

lets see how it does !

It solved a battery issue I didn't even notice before the update. Now it's better at sustaining battery life while on standby or performing regular tasks such as much, Facebook-ing, or Wi-Fi web browsing.

I think the poll could have been improved with a "No Difference--No problems with 5.0 or 5.0.1" since it would add those who never had a battery problem.

Or even in my case with something like "Didn't have a problem before and battery life is still better.

Nope, doesn't seem to have solved it. It started out fine, stayed at 100% for a good long while, then after just a few texts it dropped to 80% in a total of about 6 hours. I'll have to play with it for a few days to really see.

I wasn't experiencing too bad of battery life until about 2 days ago, charged phone from 25 to 85 percent, let it sleep overnight and dropped to 65. It had never done this before which is weird. Then after updating to 5.0.1 it is still draining pretty fast, much faster than before, about 1% every 7-8 minutes while asleep. Arg this is frustrating, I went through and turned a lot of stuff off a couple of weeks ago so I'm not sure what is going on. :(

Mine is fine before and after. My iphone 4s last over 10 hours in heavy use. Light use it last 2 to 3 days. My iPad 2 last 10 hours in heavy use and in light use, it last 3 to 4 days.

Wasn't really having any battery issues with 5.0, in fact, since my last iPhone was a 3G, I was amazed at how much longer the battery on my 4GS lasted. Unfortunately I went ahead and updated to 5.0.1. When I went to bed last night my battery was 98% full. Woke up this morning to a dead battery! At 4pm today I was at 75%. By 630pm my battery was down to 58% without any usage other than to check the battery!!:(:(:(
Can I go back to 5.0?

Luckily I seem to have one of the "good" 4S phones. Although I've had the phone for five days and battery usage seemed fine before, it is great now. Today was a busy day for me and I was on phone calls (Verizon, for what it's worth, great signal with 5 bars) for about 2 1/2 hours and the phone is currently reporting 6 hours and 5 minutes of usage with 17 hours, 10 minutes of standby... and get this, 30% remaining battery life. Coming from a Droid Incredible which had awful battery life I am amazed that I can use my phone now without fear of the battery dying half way through the day.

After really testing it today, I've come to the conclusion that mine is slightly better. Im at 16% now with 15 hours standby, 6 and a half hours usage. Though I still think I have phantom usage. Percentage still drops rapidly during usage but I do have an improvement, but it could be much better

One thing I do miss about android is its ability to tell you what exactly was using battery.

Did the full battery drain today, and battery performance is much better (or at least the measurement).

FYI if you are getting 6-7 hours of use on 16+ hrs of standby and still have a charge left, you do NOT qualify as one with "battery problems"

Can't expect a phone to last for 3 days if you're constantly using it!

iPhone 4S battery

I had okay battery life on my iPhone 4S, would discharge after average use to 40% by the end of the day.
So I used until it turned itself off from too low of battery, and then used the wall charger to recharge to 100%. Noticeably better battery life.

UPDATE:
Off charge yesterday at 3PM. 100%
Moderate texting,
Light emailing,
A few phone calls,
Facebooking,
Twittering,
Sat on my dresser overnight where it received several push notifications and texts.

As of 10AM this morning, it's at 66%. That's 19 hours on 34% battery drop. Gotta say, that ain't bad!

Honestly I think it's been the same for me...still draining issues. I hope that Apple comes up with an actual working solution soon.

My battery was awesome before. Even better than my iPhone 4 with 4.3. However, 5.0.1 has totally killed my device. It lost 30% battery just sitting by my bedside overnight, when it would lost 2-3% max normally.

At least push email from iCloud is working now though. But my battery life is crap.

Perhaps the push email from iCloud is to blame? Can you do some testing?

I have a ip4 and battery life was slightly worse with 5.0. Since updating to 5.0.1, it seems a bit better, but it's hard to say right now if the problem is solved.

My iPad 2 seems slightly better as well.
