I’m really hoping for announced in Sep and released in Oct. Or maybe announced in Oct at a separate event then released in Nov. That’s just my wishful thinking though.

I love my mini so hopefully, they don’t kill it.

The 6 was at the iPhone event, wasn't it? So I could see the same again (available next week as per usual,) which would make it September if the event is the 10th, or a vague mention before it then turns up at end of October/beginning of November. Perhaps alongside an iPhone SE 4, after a load of people have updated their iPhones after the September event to something that they might not have bought had all the phones launched together. Maybe it'll be in a press release, similar to the Mini 5, as the Mini 8 is rumoured to be the significant upgrade.

Yeah, they may just announce something, It's just been so long, and I think it's still in play?

Maybe this Oct date will be the 'Old stuff gets updated' event.

been using apple products since apple II days, I've always felt apple just let devices die whenever they deemed it a failure in their eyes - who knows maybe users like larger devices.. I'm a proud owner of an original iPad and iPad Air the mini is as close to them as I can get now in terms of 'feel' ~ size plus thickness

I think it won't get mentioned and nothing will occur

I'm not even convinced another iPad Mini is ever coming
(one of my favorite devices in use is my iPad Mini 5)

Apple loves to kill "mini" products for some reason
Say it isn’t so!

Seriously though, I don’t think the iPad mini will ever be completely abandoned because too many businesses, gamers, doctors, pilots, etc. use them. But unfortunately, these are not the type of use cases that need to be updated often. I’m hoping we’ll get some mention in September but I actually think it will be October. But it will happen! Keep the faith!

I purchased my mini 6 in may 2023, so I’m not upgrading mine until Apple stop releasing new iOS software upgrades or it starts slowing down on me.

I do think Apple has a way of not liking smaller products, except for the Mac Mini. They killed that smaller MacBooks.

I’ve had mine for 3 years now so if there is something worth upgrading for I will upgrade. However, if it’s just an updated chip then I’ll just keep my mini 6 as the chip in it is still plenty fast for what I need.

Same. I have the cellular mini so I’m in no rush to give up my sim slot. Something will be OLED for me, as nice as more RAM and 128GB would be. I think the only iPad I’ll be buying this year will be for a gift.

Well, they succeeded with their dilly-dallying. I finally gave up on the prospect of a Mini 7/Mini 7 Pro and just bought an 11 inch M4 iPad Pro, partly because I think it is considerably more responsive for handwriting than a non-M4 (and perhaps non-M series) Mini would be. And, the size, while bigger than the mini is not unwieldy for eBook reading. My two biggest uses for my mini 6 are eBook reading and handwritten note taking.

That said, I'm still hoping to see a mini 7 and maybe even a mini 7 Pro announced in Sept or Oct with release shortly thereafter. Hoping but not holding my breath...

The mini is the last product Apple makes that I'm still a dedicated customer for and it's the most useful electronic thing I've ever owned. That said, after the 5th gen, they've repeatedly demonstrated and said things that indicate they don't use or understand how people use the product as a truly mobile device and just assume people buy it as "the cheap ipad". I have no doubt they'll kill it and will be pleasantly surprised if they don't, & don't screw it up further.

The mini 2 and 3 were the cheap iPads.

Then Apple realized people are willing to pay a small premium for the size. Hence, the minis have higher MSRP compared to regular iPads now ($349 iPad 10, $499 mini 6).

Even in 2019, it was $329 iPad 7th gen and $399 mini 5 so a very slight premium for the mini.

Yeah at that time they were making statements about how they took the Mini's best selling ipad status as an indicator that what people want was more budget ipads, and they wanted to offer a full sized ipad for less so people didn't need to compromise by getting the small model. As if thats the reason to buy the mini. Also about when they gave up keeping the mini up to date with the same most powerful chips as the big models & let it lag behind. ...and didnt include the size it in the Pro line, didn't even bother mentioning it in iPad events, etc, etc etc

Their approach to the mini makes it look like their margins on it must be slimmer than the larger models.
