Nice suggestion nicrose but I think im going to need something more "universal" so i have come up with some acorn leaves. They're supposed to mimic the recycling symbol but need a bit of tweaking because i copied them from a small res image quickly with the pen tool.

I like the leaves! And, I actually like them as they are right now...so I'd at least leaf them (hahaha) as they are on one set and tweak them on another set. I also like them being a recycling symbol of sorts. I think you could *possibly* strengthen this by bringing them closer together, and off to the left of the logo or something.

Try to stick to two colors if you can, of course. The less colors, the more versatile the logo, and the less need for it to change for different projects.

I think this project is coming along nicely. Keep up the good work!

This is nice. As mentioned, perhaps try to build a stronger connection to the recycled symbol by bringing them closer together, but in some sense it's nice to have the relationship remain a little abstract.

I think that the recycling symbol is so universally recognized that it will be lost if heavily modified

Possibly an addition to the recycling system may be in order to suite your needs.

The issue is that the recycling symbol may very well need to be licensed, which I'm assuming that isn't something he doesn't want to do. I like the abstract, because I don't get the impression that this is simply a recycling initiative, but rather a larger project/organization that promotes ecological responsibility.

Actually there is no licensing needed the symbol is public domain Recycling Symbol Spec Sheet

The symbol is also included in the "apple symbols" font family on your mac the keystroke is U+2672

You're losing your simplicity. Try making all the leaves green and change the dot on the i back to its natural color.

Yeah i feel like focus is being lost as i've got you lot giving me various advice on how to improve things while i've got another group of people wanting me to try out different ideas.

you can see other peoples variations of my logo on this forum..

So you can get how i'm feeling a bit mudled up. hmm :(

Anyway, i've changed my leaves so they're all green and also kept the dot in the "g" green because i really like that! :)

I think that if i could create a better leaf shape and change the white inner white part of it into an arrow (to enforce the recycle logo) then that would be a good finish to this design.

After looking at your most recent composition - I find myself asking why use red as a secondary color, it makes me think Christmas especially when being accompanied by that style leaves

I don't like black so thought that some "earthy" colours would be good, and then added some other shades.

btw, we're not voting on where the "the" should go anymore, thanks.

I think option #1 gives a strong color contrast.

I think you are going to need a strong contrast to push the point if you don't like black I would try HEX #333333 in order to soften some of the harshness of the black. See post #56

The dot inside the g's tail is interesting.
I think you could do something really nice with it. Someone mentioned maybe an "idea lamp". I would not use it as it is now (colourwise). There is a lot going on in that part of your logo, with the coloured dot and the overal clarity and simplicity of the rest it kind of distracts.

You could of course keep it coloured differently and make it the center of the twirling leaves or something :)

I would definitely try playing with the g's tail and see what would/could come of it. This of course is completely different from what you have now. Serves you right for asking for ideas on a forum ;)

As for your current solution, I agree with mustard. #1 Seems more right than the others, just change the dot's colour :D

Just for **** and giggles make the Green in black letters and everything else green, if it can be done easily.

Have you tried a variant with out the (.) on the i?

If not that would actually help tie in all of the copy text because the (.) would be implied from the counter form of the g. Another idea would be to full in the the entire counter form with the color green.

The only reason I see the (.) a concern is that it starts getting lost when reduce the size and at one inch tall it is all but gone.

You lost your flow when you changed the leaves stems to "arrows".

I completely agree with mustard, give the alternative (.) a shot, and especially try #333333 as mustard and I mentioned before to ease the shock of the black.

Here is a variant with out the (.) - unfortunately the counter form is a little two open/wide to work if filled in with green.

To tighten the bottom part of the i you could make the top part follow the same curve as the descender of the g. Here is a rough take.

Best one so far. Good job.

The only thing still bothering me is the "arrows" in the leaves. But hey, if it works for you, leave it.
