Maybe a less busy leaf would help - like this?

It gives the impression of the recycling logo but also implies a simple organic shape similar to a guitar pic (rounded triangle), if you need to pushed farther in the leaf direction a faint tapered vein could be added/subtracted in white.

I like this idea as well. The leaves seem a little corny to me, to be honest - especially with the arrows. I prefer logos to be simplistic, with a deeper underlying message (ie: the viewer gets the point on a quick glance, but on a longer look gets even more out of it.. my favorite example of this is the Fedex logo.. where the e and the x forms an arrow, but you don't catch that right away).

Self Critique Time:
The more I look at the mark above the more it looses its meaning and becomes more and more ameba like as well as scaling becomes a factor (when set at a maximum height of 1in it just looks blob-like)

I jumped in to this crit/colabrative mid process and now that I am not focusing on work and can sit and casual surf the web my brain has been freed of the day's stresses. The one thing I think has gotten lost (I haven't been able to find in the 4 pages in the thread), what is the big green idea's intent.

I know that it is eco based but to what degree - recycling initiative, reduction of post consumer waste, etc. I think this has turned into an aesthetic crit while totally over looking the concept.

In closing what is THE BIG GREEN IDEA?

P.S. It is also staring to take on a Gateway Computers Vibe

Eeep, I abandoned this thread a bit, sorry kids....

I re-did the logo in Photoshop at a bigger size and kept all the layers so it's easier for me to edit. It's slightly different in proportion but I think it's better than the previous one even if it's only me that can notice it.

I tried to re create it in Illustrator 10 but I really can't figure the application out so left it. (Anyone know some good tutorials? my searches haven't come up with any good results.)

Hmm, I've forgot if I had anything else to say....

Here is the latest..

I would modify the width of "the" to be the same as the width of "g".

Also I would recommend having the ascenders (tops) of the letters i & d in "idea" match the curve of the letters above.

I dont think anyone has done it yet, however, I would like to see the word "Green" in black letters and everything else in green. Just humor me. I think it would be funny.

altered th top of the "d" so it follows the "G"

8==D I really like what you've done. Might throw that at them if you don't mind?

The "d" definitely has a nice touch. Could you make one with "Green" in black and everything else in green.

Spot on with the i & d. The width of "the" needs to be adjusted to match the "g" and I think you are there.

thrown together without other alterations.

gonna have to go bed soon

I love it, people will remember this logo because the colors, I know I would.

Mom: "You remember the big green idea thing?"

Me: "No"

Mom: "Remember that logo you made fun of with the colors?"

Me: "Oh snap, ya, I remember now!"

thanks for humoring me, but can't hurt to show your clients.

I'm undecided on these last two renditions. I like the text itself on both. Nudge "the" 2-4 pixels to the right and it'll be perfect.

At first glance I like the circle better as the leaves never really did it for me, but then after looking at it I feel like even that could be too much, and maybe you should get rid of the filler and just leave the well done text.

They liked the circle but we agreed that it looked kinda empty and pointless so I added one of the leaves. I tried to add a circle (in the same position as the leaf) so that would look like earth in orbit but it looked a bit crap and i wouldn't have been able to add any detail.

The circle needs something but i don't want it getting to messy. Does the leaf seem too odd?

Oh, i moved "the" over the right by a couple of pixels like someone said. taa.

I'm going to bed now so will reply in morning...
