You should use Apktool/APK Manager, decompile Flipboard, and then find the widget images, and replace the Flipboard logo and refresh button with transparent PNGs. It'd look good. There's some tutorials on XDA to do it. I did it in the past before.
I have to stop coming back to this thread. I miss Android on my phone

It comes in a pack. The app is called Zooper Widget Pro. Great widget app. I love tons of apps in it.
Btw I didn't even remember it until now.. But I was the first person to post on this thread when you created it. Haha
what icon pack are you using? my OCD does not allow me to have those defaul icon shapes. id much rather have them all square like yours
Got jelly of these clean layouts so I done copied it
I didn't know that Duck Duck Go had an app. I use it on my desktop.
Thanks guys. I'm using uccw with the play bar theme.

Best thing about it, there's no messy setup everything is completely automated.
My setup was
Nova prime launcher (paid)
1 homescreen
12x12 grid size
Width & height margins medium.
Swype up gesture to access apps
Hide dock, hide status bar.
Resize and overlap widgets on
Then I reduced the Google search widget to 1x3 and placed it in the bottom corner, with the 12x12 grid size it hides the top and bottom lines. For each label I placed a 4x1 uccw widget, you can select from over 20 pre custom labels, change colors and link whatever short cut or app you want to it.
Almost forgot, here's the wallpaper
