Dragging files on to it.

Especially since they killed file creator codes a few years back. So for example, since then you can only set JPEGs to open with a single program when you double click them. So if I want to open 1 JPEG in Photoshop, 1 JPEG in Preview, and 1 JPEG in iPhoto I'd either have to go to each program, go to file, go to open (or import) and manually find it...

OR I can drag those 3 files onto those programs on the dock. Super fast and easy. (And the biggest thing I miss when using Windows.)

You can do it Windows (at least on Windows 7). You have to also hold shift, though.

public beta

Here's my Yosemite Screen...

Why no iTunes 12 in the public beta??? Also, wallpaper is from http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper/details/3650/justistal.html

Don't know if this was posted yet, or if it's common knowledge but... If anyone has menubar icons that aren't white in Dark Mode, right click on the Application icon and choose Show Package Contents/Contents/Resources and locate the menubar icon (usually obvious). I change mine using Photoshop, then make sure you keep a backup of the black version so you have it if/when you go back to Light Mode. **YMMV as not all devs put their menubar icons in that location!

What is that widget you have with the music controls?

It's "Control Center" by Cindori. It emulates iOS Control Center with many more features, fully UI and feature customizable. Since that screen shot, I modded it more and arranged it. You can hide it with custom key strokes or multi-gestures, so it's not always present.

The dark mode looks particularly nice with a dark wallpaper. I'd love an option for it to change automatically based on time of day.

Well, sir, you are in luck! Here is an application that toggles the dark mode, hook it up to an iCal alarm and allow it to control the computer and you are good to go.

Oh, and here is my desktop:
