The simplicity of everything in B&W (including menus) has its appeal for me...

You simply go into Accessibility and click "use Greyscale" to get that effect. Everything will be black and white, including your favourite movies... That's my take on dark mode... :D

How is life in 256 (non-) colours?

I have to say... I like your idea of "Greyscale".

My final desktop post before Yosemite releases sometime the upcoming week! (I hope..) Can't wait for the October event! :apple:

And I hope the trackpad preview dates which says 14th will be the release date for the final GM before the event.. If not, we will see the final GM right after the event!

It's because I have a Retina MacBook Pro and with higher pixel density, it's possible for Apple to keep thinner lines like that for the Retina Macs.

Everything from fonts like for example the percentage of my battery to menubar icons are thinner in general on Retina Macs.

This is just for reference, is my 1st post here.
I have several apps that doesn't have the icon for the dark UI mode, but you can edit pretty much any statusbar's icon, you just have to find it :)

- Go to Applications/your_app.app
- Right click, Show Package Contents
- Open Resources
- Sort by kind, and look for the icon, usually is a png or tiff file.
You can use Adobe Photoshop to create your new icon, as i'm not a designer, usually i just use the app icon and set a white color fill in the blending options.

Sometimes, the icon belongs to a "sub application", like 1password has 1password mini, therefore u have to search for the subapp and "expand it" like a normal app....
Taking the 1password example, this is the full path to the icon:
/Applications/1Password.app/Contents/Library/LoginItems/1Password mini.app/Contents/Resources/menubar-icon.tiff

Remember to do a backup of the original icon...

My current statusbar:

There's more to an operating system than desktop backgrounds (especially desktop backgrounds that are not integral to the system).

Please, let's see some shots of multiple apps on screen; multiple apps without Mission Control. If some of those apps have multiple windows, even better.

If you have anything other than a plain desktop background to show with your shots of apps, please realise that someone is going to ask where you got that background. Just get on with it and post the link at the same time.

There are umpteen web sites, umpteen other topics, that are intended for wallpapers.

Thanks …
