I'm loving the Apple Watch and especially some of the faces shared in this thread but there's one thing that's really chapping my ass.......

How easy would it of been for Apple to allow you to put a wallpaper to the modular watch face instead of just a black background ?.

Yeah, some might say that it'll be too cluttered but I'd like the option.

Is this another one of the "Apple will only allow a certain amount of customisation" things as I can't really see what harm giving us owners a little bit more play.

Rant over.

All the best guys.

I was wondering the same thing, but I think if they want custom faces like with the hermes, this makes it too easy to duplicate.

Thanks for the response.

I understand that Apple are going to want people to dig back in to their pockets again for faces like Hermes (I'll probably be one of them) but just a little thing like allowing a background image in just the Modular face is hardly going to be an income drain for them.

I suppose it's only the same as adding a background to your iPhone lock screen/home screen and just imagine what that would be like if we weren't allowed to do that?

I suppose we'll have to wait and see what future updates allow us.

Maybe I've missed this earlier, but I have a moon at the top of the watch face, does it signify a full moon?
And when I make time travel it moves across the screen
No, it's just showing the position of the Moon relative to the Earth (and it's accurate, too). You can also see it by rotating the Earth manually, and you can see the Earth from the Moon, too.

How did you add hour, min and seconds to the image?
Hi FrisbeeK9,
you must use "Watchgif" Application. That is available at appstore for ca. 2$.
The Hour, min and seconds arrows you have as standard config there and you can change some images.
You can change images and use standard templates.
See Attachments for Example:

At next you must change seetings for apple watch. Instead show clockface you change on show last activity:
on Iphone -Apple Watch app - My Watch - General - Display on - when raising/lifting.

I just can't believe they haven't made a Watch Face Store. I'd buy it if it had more customization options. At least an analog that we can put over wallpaper instead of only digital. And in the corner. So dumb. They should let you move it wherever. And add stuff.

Agreed,

I'm usually tight when buying apps but I'd 100% spend money on having more faces

They'll take their time, but we will see more options with watchfaces from Apple.

Don't forget it took them till iOS 4 to allow custom wallpapers on the iPhone!

It seems obvious to me, but with the estimated 14mm watches sold now, Apple could make $100mm selling $1-3 watch faces.

I know I would buy 3-5 if they looked good.

From my understanding of Apple's philosophy, mindset and the vision of the Apple Watch is that custom wallpapers will never be allowed. However 50/50 Apple will allow custom watch faces. The Apple Watch is not an iPhone. Apple views It's watch as a luxury time piece against luxury watch makers. Wallpapers would take away the luxury musk if I understood Tim Cook and Jony Ive through their Apple Watch keynotes. I do think Apple will supply more watch faces and possibly open up the APi.

Maybe Apple will eventually, and I think they're trying to set a standard in the meantime.

If the API is opened, I just hope third parties don't immediately resort to more stupid Rolex ripoffs like I see in every other Android Wear user photo.
