Shouldn't a front LED Notification light be a standard feature on every smartphone?

Many aren't complaining but are just expressing their thoughts about an improvement that they wouldn't mind seeing.
One person's "expressing thoughts" is another's perceived complaint... the argument about notification lights has been going on for a long, long time... if Apple wanted to placate the "thought expressers" they'd have done so by now. That they (Apple) hasn't should tell anyone all they need to know.

Some are complaining others aren't. Whether or not Apple has done it or will do it doesn't mean that people can't or shouldn't really discuss it (sure complaining per se isn't useful, but a discussion can be worthwhile for those who might be interested).

What does it tell us?

Of love an LED indicator but when I put my phone into do not disturb mode it should not blink (ie; when I am sleeping I don't want to wake up to the blinking). This has happened on the Galaxy S6 and Nexus 5x....

I like it back when I first got my Note II (switched from the iPhone 4) but I pretty much stopped using it and haven't for awhile. I think it's because I get so many notifications I'd rather not have to see it flashing so often, it's like "I know..." same reason why I blocked notifications for app updated from Google Play. I occasionally check for updates and do them in one fell swoop as opposed to being nagged very frequently.

For most people that's likely the case for many notifications, although for many a few notifications like missed calls and/or messages and/or perhaps even emails could certainly be in the category of wanting to be notified by something like an LED to make sure those aren't overlooked at times.

i love my notification light on my S7 edge. It nice to glance at my phone and know what the notification is without have to touch my phone. I don't have even have to be in the same room to know what the notification was. Just walk in and glance at my phone.
