It is a disaster. The phone is on sale a month and had 35 confirmed accidents so far. My memory is not what it once was, but i don't remember 35 iPhones exploding after 1 month on sale or any other brand of phone for that matter.

It is a disaster. The phone is on sale a month and had 35 confirmed accidents so far. My memory is not what it once was, but i don't remember 35 iPhones exploding after 1 month on sale or any other brand of phone for that matter.
I think you're right.....about that part. But at least Samsung was quick to act and recall them.
Well Samsung rightfully so is treating this thing head on. The last thing they need is massive class action lawsuit brought on by negligence. But hey don't let the facts or common sense get in the way of any of the posts here.
And then a minor inconvenience...antenna-gate as it were, is mentioned alongside of a potential deadly design flaw. What exactly is this supposed to show anybody? Apples crappy response to some design flaw, or great customer service (as I believe someone mentioned) by handing out cases.
To my knowledge no one has been hurt from a Note 7. So Samsung's quick response prevented any injuries.
Then about the IP4 issue....Apple denied any design flaw that rendered a brand newly released phone useless. It would not make calls or texts and lost service when you held it.
But hey as you pointed out....to make up for this design flaw Apple gave you a free, bumper case. But of course...not admitting there was a design flaw. But somehow the bumper case resolved the issue that didn't exist. Funny how that happened.
Different companies and different responses.
Oh...almost forgot. Here is an actual iphone battery that exploded and caused a 3rd degree burn......
He did fall on his iphone though and it exploded and burned him.

The fact that nobody was hurt was dumb luck not indicative of any best practice by Samsung. They had to act quickly to prevent the defendants from lawyering up. And the weak attempt to equate a one off incident to a massive recall or a basic inconvenience given there are 1 billion Idevices out there is a fail.

Hmmm not so much luck though is it? I mean 35 cases of exploding batteries could have resulted in a injury for sure. But it didn't.
But then Samsung to very quick action and went public and recalled all the Note 7s to figure out which ones were actually affected with the issue.
You should google exploding iphones. You will see more than you ever though there was. There are YouTube videos of exploding iphones. There are pictures and customers accounts of numerous injuries from exploding iphones.
Yet not one injury from an Note 7...go figure.....
Maybe the issue is being blown out of proportion from brand loyal fans?
I did a websearch for iphone battery recall and came up with the iphone 5 shorter than average battery life. I then did a websearch for Note 7 recall and I came up with exploding batteries. Fairly indicative of the issue at hand, don't you think? You really think any exploding li-ion battery is exactly this situation? The fact nobody was hurt is lucky on samsung's part and not indicative of any quick action on the part of them. go figure.
hmmm... so you admit that Li-on batteries could explode. Thats progress anyway. Then out of that billion how many have issues with their batteries exploding? The Google searches indicate it if more than the .0014% of the Note 7s that had an issue.
Then there have been no injuries. Because Samsung took the high road and admitted there was an issue and recalled them all! They didn't blame the customer or deny the issue. Kind of refreshing.....
You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Antenna gate was completely stupid as was bendgate. The fact that you're even comparing it to a phone CATCHING FIRE suggests you're not arguing from a reality-based perspective. It seems your argument is that if Apple were releasing a product that could potentially KILL ITS CUSTOMERS they wouldn't have had a recall. Pure fanboyism.

So far no one has died, and no one has been injured. Mistakes happen to even the most prestigious of companies. While Samsung's is getting a lot of news right now, they are quick to fix it. The average consumer doesn't give a darn, and a month from now the only people who will still care/talk about it is the 50 people who love to argue on this forum.
I mean, I keep thinking it can't get worse here, and yet it does. Apple fans are loving this, and using this (visit the iphone forum section) as a justification of why their choice/product is superior. Well, it isn't, and you look ridiculous (plus if its such a big deal and safety hazard, don't take joy in the endangerment of people).
All companies get hit with quality control issues. While this was a highly publicized version for Samsung, Apple has plenty (touch disease, bending phones, "you're holding it wrong", battery life problems macbook graphic cards dying, etc). If you compare apples to apples, Samsung is doing a better job of fixing their problems.
Again all companies deal with this. I listed the above instances for Apple. Toyota had a problem a year or two back, people died, and they didn't respond the best. For about 10 years, if you bought a dodge truck (I did), you could bet your money the transmission would die young. Ford has some issues, Fischer price has had issues, etc, etc. Last time I check, all the above companies are doing fine.

But good job trying to minimize the totally bad press that Samsung is getting. And go on...compare getting your face on fire to antenna-gate.

And yes, I would hope Samsung does a better job of fixing their problems when their problem right now consists of a phone that can catch fire due to faulty batteries. You're gonna keep hitting your head into that logic-wall everytime you or someone else wants to beat your chest over how quick their response is "in comparison to Apple".

Not a fan boy. I love my iPad, windows pcs, and Android phone. That is what I am using st the moment. I don't really have an allegiance.

Comparing Samsung to Apple in this situation is a bit silly as Apple hasn't had the same problem, yes some iPhone's have caught fire, but not in the same time scale and magnitude as the Note 7, it not the same or similar.
But Kudos for the speed of which Samsung has dealt with the situation is appropriate considering how other companies drag their feet with potentially way more lethal issues.
Take the Takata airbag scenario, that still isn't fully resolved, there are cars out there with airbags that could POTENTIALLY be useless, are capable of self deploying, have the risk of their ignite timing being early or late, which isn't great in an accident.
All of which can kill a whole group or family in one incident, not to mention any external casualties that could get caught up in whatever incident. Way more worthy of a faster global recall.
That is one scenario, most end up taking months if not years of delays as parties try to palm off the cost to anyone but themselves and litigating in courtrooms while people drive around in timebomb's.
There are multiple companies still doing recalls on cars that are over a decade old.
So for a company to initiate a global recall as quickly as Samsung has, is worthy of Kudos, no matter what the ulterior motive is.

That said, I'm looking forward to getting my replacement Note 7 and no, I won't be getting an iPhone. Not bagging iphones though, I know quite a few people who love them, they're just not for me.

I think Samsung have responded quickly and are handling it well. They deserve some recognition/credit for their response. There is no point in comparing to other companies like Apple as Apple et al have not been in this situation. Yet. It can happen to any big company though.
I think Apple would react in the same way though and would respond quickly if they ever had such a potentially dangerous defect in one of their products.

wow so much over reacting. Show mw where I said I hate Apple. In fact I always say just the opposite. I intend to get the iPhone 7 plus. I am writing this on my rMBP. In fact I use my 6s+ probably more than any other phone I have and I have 4 phones......
Yes....an exploding battery can potentially hurt someone.....kinda stretching it to say it will cause death.
There are a ton videos on the internet of iphones batteries exploding too btw......but somehow I don't think you have outrage or condemnation for those that have been hurt or harmed by iphones.
Yes it is refreshing to see a huge company like Samsung take the high road and immediately recall their flagship phablet at a great PR and $$ cost to them.
In this day and age of big companies covering up faulty products. They did the right thing.
You can over dramatise it all you want to but 35 cases out of 2.5 million is .0014% and buddy you stand a better chance of winning the lottery and or getting struck by lightning that have a Note 7 battery explode on you.
Meanwhile...I'm overdosing on themes. I am having a blast (not the exploding battery kind) changing the look of my entire phone down to the keyboard and having a little cat peek at me when I go to delete scary looking selfies.
The Galaxy S7 is a lot of fun. I think my husband is annoyed or jealous I'm having so much fun because he doesn't much like the S7Edge even tbough he has been using it for Samsung Pay for our back to school shopping. The software is better on the Note7. They did refine it since the S7. My husband misses those refinements. I did at first, but have quickly adapted to what's under my nose right now.
I went bonkers stopping in a Best Buy to see the pink gold Galaxies. They were gorgeous. There was a promo ending today where you could get a $150 gift card if you buy the pink gold Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge. The salesman said I could trade in my 6SPlus. It's not that I want two S7's. But I do have to give this one back if I want the Note7 back. And I surely do.
Boy did I get an earful from my husband for even thinking about getting that pink gold S7. He wants me to watch the keynote first.
I AM intrigued by how Siri will become more useful now that she's open to developers to incorporate into their apps. So hubby is right and I should keep my options open. I did hate missing out on the gift card deal, though.
It's a good time to be a buyer and see what's going on. I do want to commit more to the S7 to replace my iPhone but I am a bit concerned about what a recent update that forced itself onto my phone this morning might have done to my battery life. I need to wait and see after my S7 settles a bit.
I have had updates screw around with my Apple Watch and iPhone battery life, too, so this isn't a permanent mark against Samsung if it gets fixed or if something else is draining my battery. Husband has the same concern.

No iPhones exploding or catching fire to the tune of 35 in a month. But there is a crap load of iPhones being returned monthly due to the "touch disease" issue. Even a class action lawsuit. Yet Apple continues to ignore the issue publicly.
And if that happened in the first month of sales you might have a point. Now out of all the millions Apple has sold over pas two years few hundred (lets guess) have an issue? Shocker.
The Android experience on a Note 7 is amazing. Samsung has done a terrific job with it on the Note 7.
Plus the entire Note lineup has its loyal customers. An iPhone is not a consideration due to its locked down limited proprietary system. That's not a criticism but rather a fact.
Experienced smartphone users with experience in both environments know that if they want maximum functionality in an open platform there's nothing like Android.
