Was testing my camera and a LCD is near perfect for barrel distortion on macro.

Small Fuji point & shoot but still gets the job done for fast pics for eBay listings (as long as you're not too close or OCD like myself)

Using this same workhorse that still can game rather well. Photo was taken off my ACD looking for stuck pixels after taking delivery...

Bought today, going to be shoving in 16GB RAM and an SSD in the next couple of months. Huge upgrade from my G5 lol.

Don't judge me. I use an iPad 3 at work.
Judged :p

Spent about 9 hours yesterday getting my Thinkpad to dual boot OSX and Win 7. Success.
Mac Pro? Hah needs a bit more tweaking ;) How was the setup procedure anyway? I thought iBoot made it relatively straight forward!

I was using my 2011 dual core Mac Mini with 16GB RAM as my main machine for about 6 months. Stock 5400RPM HDD, 3VMs running constantly, it did a really great job!! You will REALLY appreciate the SSD upgrade.

My MacBook feels rather old now, but at least it's still on the best version of OS X!
Winning! I concur, 10.6 is the best....

My hackintosh set up I've been using the past 4 years! With an LG W2753V :D
Awesome!! Love the simplicity -- geektool? Can you send me your iTunes script? :)

I've seen this idea several times since I've been back to mac rumors, a whole 3 days. What makes this such a common opinion?

I've been using a hackintosh since late 2008, which forced me to ignore all OS updates due to not being able to have 100% work vanilla os (un-edited kext) after each one. I tried Lion when it released, but due to wake-from-sleep, network and audio issues, I went back to SL.

Since then the OSx86 community has made huge improvements on ML as far as my hardware being 100% compatible/stable I decided to take the plunge and I'm quite happy.

My question is what makes this opinion common amongst people with genuine apple hardware?!

In cases like these, I stand by hackintosh's as being a viable alternative to people with real production goals.

My first experience with macs was during the Power Mac Dual G4's used by music producers in the early 2000's and those guys raised me with the philosophy, don't connect your mac to the net. They were implying the general car knowledge of that time, "if it ain't broke don't fix it." Unfortunately, the times have changed when software was released complete, and bug free which I've always attributed to the lack of 3rd party plug ins back then.

I'll say it right now, the last time I felt OS upgrades were actually an upgrade/improvement on apple hardware was the last set of OS updates on Power PC. Each OS update up until 10.5 on Power PC made me feel it was more efficient, then when SL released I felt it started showing it's age then upgraded to the first intel macs and since the switch to intel, it's honestly felt like less an improvement compared to os upgrades on powerpc.

Yeah iBoot is awesome. Yes it needs a LOT more tweaking. I haven't owned a OSX 10.6 or later Mac in over a year so I'm trying to keep myself up to date.

Just finished the upgrades. Finally get to join the 8GB RAM club!

You should not be using 1067mhz RAM in that machine. That machine comes with 1333mhz DDR3 RAM. You either use two 4GB 1067mhz modules or one that is 1333 and another that 1067.

If you buy 8GB (2x 4GB) 1600mhz modules, it'll work as well! A lot better!
