Winning! I concur, 10.6 is the best....
I've seen this idea several times since I've been back to mac rumors, a whole 3 days. What makes this such a common opinion?
I've been using a hackintosh since late 2008, which forced me to ignore all OS updates due to not being able to have 100% work vanilla os (un-edited kext) after each one. I tried Lion when it released, but due to wake-from-sleep, network and audio issues, I went back to SL.
Since then the OSx86 community has made huge improvements on ML as far as my hardware being 100% compatible/stable I decided to take the plunge and I'm quite happy.
My question is what makes this opinion common amongst people with genuine apple hardware?!
In cases like these, I stand by hackintosh's as being a viable alternative to people with real production goals.
My first experience with macs was during the Power Mac Dual G4's used by music producers in the early 2000's and those guys raised me with the philosophy, don't connect your mac to the net. They were implying the general car knowledge of that time, "if it ain't broke don't fix it." Unfortunately, the times have changed when software was released complete, and bug free which I've always attributed to the lack of 3rd party plug ins back then.
I'll say it right now, the last time I felt OS upgrades were actually an upgrade/improvement on apple hardware was the last set of OS updates on Power PC. Each OS update up until 10.5 on Power PC made me feel it was more efficient, then when SL released I felt it started showing it's age then upgraded to the first intel macs and since the switch to intel, it's honestly felt like less an improvement compared to os upgrades on powerpc.
