Late 2011 MacBook Pro's use 1333mhz RAM. You reduced the speed of the RAM by upgrading to 8GB 1067mhz. You have more, but at a lower speed.

Yeah, but that's hardly going to have an impact on what I do, which is graphic design, video editing, and desktop publishing.

My Baby :)

If anything, it's been an extreme improvement over having 4GB 133MHz to 8GB 1067MHz.
The difference between 1067Mhz and 1333Mhz isn't earth-shattering; 8 GB of 'slightly slower' definitely trumps 4GB of slightly-faster. I was just talking about the fact that the tasks you listed do actually benefit from more or faster RAM. :)

Not "definitely" as you are assuming one is using in excess of 4 gigs. If they are not, then 4 gigs at a faster clock will exceed that of 8gigs at a slower clock

I didn't assume anything, I was talking about his actual situation. Having more RAM available to the OS and to apps (especially for the tasks he listed) at a slightly slower clock speed (and the difference IS slight) is better than access to less RAM at a slightly higher clock speed. This isn't rocket science.

It isn't rocket science indeed... If he isn't utilizing over 4 gigs in his workflow, the extra ram won't be of any benefit and less ram at a faster clock will be better. However, if he is experiencing pageouts at 4gigs, you are correct.

Having more ram just for the sake of having more doesn't necessarily make your system faster

I agree, and not to argue, but let's keep things in context. If he's doing the tasks he lists, especially video editing, then he's better off with access to the 8GBs of slower vs. the original 4GB. If the speed difference were between say, 1067 vs. 1600, then that would be a different story.

Looking to upgrade the RAM to either 8gb or 16gb eventually.

My post from page 17 and my current "About" window. I guess it's been a while.
