it does support them. go to preferences --> advanced --> msn and hit "show display names as status messages".

I checked it off, restarted Adium... nothing... Where exaclty does it show up? I want it to show up underneath the alias/display name just like in standard MSN...

that guy doesn't get the personal message thing in msn. he thinks its the display name.

As of now, i don't think there's a way to see personal messages in adium. :(

There is one other thing. I've tried to convince people to using something like skype, ICQ, AIM or whatever, just so they don't use MSN. But there is an "add-on" for MSN called Messenger Plus, dunno if you've heard of it. It's such a disease. It allows you to send sound files with filmquotes and stuff to other people, you can draw your messages like in paint, you can input ANY smileys you want....and I hate it. Whatever happened to the simplicity of just communicating? I now have all additional smileys disabled, even on the PC. And another thing: People can replace what they type with little pictures. So when they type in for example "I am just another type of person", what I get is "I am just another (picture of a typewriter) of person." It's SOOO annoying when people can't write what they really want anymore.

what does skype do exactly?
is it its own IM, o does it run your msn, icq, aim etc

Skype is basically a VoIP client. It has chat functions and stuff, a very good set of smileys IMHO - the best I've seen so far, and I've been using MSN, ICQ, Yahoo, and of course Adium. The good thing about Skype is that it is really stylish out of the "box". There's no skins (the only downgrade imho), but it looks really simplistic. There's a new version now exclusively for mac, I think you should check it out just for the fun of it. www.skype.com

Is there no way to get the list 100% transparent?

EDIT: Might as well post my Mercury setup for comparison:

Does anyone know how to change the transparency of the message style?? It would look really cool like that. Anyways, this is what it is at the moment:

Color theme: pure black
List layout: tiny
Windows style: group bubles
Opacity: 78%

Then customize the font and other good stuff.

I have OCD help make these match!

Anyone know of a current theme or something that will allow for my IM(s) to be transparent just like my contact list? its the only flaw in my there right now, and I'd love for it to just have the chat area not transparent.

Contact List theme: Decay
Style: Group Bubbles
Transparency: 5%

Message Style: Smoke
Variant: Greyscale
Transparency: 5%

Help please!

Metal Adium! :D

I've been looking for a place to download Metal Adium for over a year. Any chance I could get a link? I wish it was still being updated.

EDIT: Didn't realize this was an older thread, and that I just replied to an older post.
