Post Your ADIUM Setup!

If everyone I know (and want to talk to) used MSN or ICQ or whatever, that'd get me about 40-50 contacts total. But I've seen people with 40-50 contacts in ONE group here. Right now, I have 30 contacts.

i used to have like 230-something contacts on aim, but i went through my buddy list and cleared out old screen names and people i dont talk to. now i have 114 contacts on aim, 7 on Gtalk, and 2 on skype (even though that isn't adium).

uhm well since everyones talking about it i have 5 on skype, 133 on aim, 21 on msn, 14 on yahoo, and 2 on gtalk, i just organized it

i wish more people used Yahoo! >_<

Adium would be perfect if it had Video/Audio support and if it had "Is listening to [Insert song and artist here]" feature.

it does, just type in: Listening to %_track by %_artist on %_album. in a status, profile, etc.

Adium > Prefrences > Messages....

Message Style > Minimal
Variant > Blue vs Green

Uncheck:Show user icons
Uncheck:Show recived messages fonts
Uncheck:Show recived messages colors
Uncheck:Use custom Background

Set Font... > Lucida Grande size 10.




Adium > Prefrences > Advanced > Messages

Uncheck: Always show tab bar
Uncheck: Allow closing of inactive tabs


I think that's it.

I did that, and I asked my friend if he says what music is playing, he sees no music (he has a PC)

does this only work from adium to adium?

nope, i have a friend running windows and he named my song perfectly. maybe you have it under an available message (green), rather than an away message? windows users cant see the green ones i'm pretty sure unless its gtalk rather than aim.

I made an available and an away one. Both don't work.

I asked my friend, all it shows him is My nick name and Stat is away. Music is playing, the music status is on...

yea... sorry i cant be of more help. one last shot in the dark, do you still have ichat on your computer? it might only work if you have ichat, because thats where the function comes from. also, if you still have ichat, see if it works. its already in ichat as current itunes track.

I don't know how to use Adium for crap, but can't you just select iTunes in the little away menu, just like iChat? I just tried that and it worked fine.

Adium needs to start supporting more MSN features. Not the crazy wonky ones like Winks and Games and weird animations, but at least custom emoticons and personal messages. I hate it when someone refers to their personal message and I have no idea what they're talking about, so I tell them that my computer can't see them. They don't exactly understand Macs so they tell me to get a new MSN.

it does support them. go to preferences --> advanced --> msn and hit "show display names as status messages".

my adium is down at the bottom. i prefer for it to be mostly out of the way..
