This is my 'Metal Adium' setup, I'm enjoying it so far - there's just something not right about the contact list, so I'm trying to fix it.

I tried that out.. everything on it looks fantastic, but I dislike the huge gap under the tabs on the IM windows... so I switched back :/

Eh, I'm back on regular Adium too. I had a few problems with metal adium. There's also the fact that it updates later than regular Adium, and etc, etc.

I tried that style and really liked it, but once a conversation got kinda long, the program slowed down. Sent and received messages would slowly appear in the window, and scrolling would be choppy... anyone else experience that with the ichat-esque chat bubbles?

I experience that with pretty much any style in Adium.

oh, interesting. I'm fine with the built-in styles. Maybe it just depends on a computer's specs and there's nothing i can do about it?

That may be the culprit since I don't use the built-in styles. I should try that when I get home. But the one I use now seems to be fine so I didn't worry about it anymore.

I like to keep my desktop as minimal as possible. My Adium list reflects that.

Is there a way to customize the scrollbar (or just get rid of it entirely)? Or the vertical length of the contact list (without switching to a regular window, I mean)?

Thanks in advance.

Love your message style and menu bar.

How'd you do it, buddy?

The message style is "Minimal" and comes with Adium by default.

The menu bar (by which I assume you mean the toolbar in the message window) can be achieved by right clicking on the toolbar and selecting "Customize Toolbar". Select the following options:

Text Only
Small Size

And then drag and drop two "Flexible Spaces" on either side of your toolbar icons to roughly centerize it.

Get rid of some friends. Seriously dude, that is a huge contact list. How do you guys get 60+ friends?

If everyone I know (and want to talk to) used MSN or ICQ or whatever, that'd get me about 40-50 contacts total. But I've seen people with 40-50 contacts in ONE group here. Right now, I have 30 contacts.

Josh.thomas and markkk!, what contact list styles are you using? I especially like the one with the floating white, grey, and dark grey contacts.

The contact list is here:

bitesize

with this font: silkscreen, you have to download that and get the font (it comes in the package).

the message style is here: eclipse

the variant is Paper Grey
