Canada, Eh?
  1. iPod Nano 1st generation
  2. iPod Touch 1st generation
  3. MacBook Pro 13" 2010
  4. iPhone 4s
  5. iPhone 5

These stuff really last. The iPod nano only broke because i sat on it (which only cracked the screen) AND dropped it, which killed it.

The rest all still works.

Yes, yes, I know - it's quite similar to the thread "What was your first Apple Product?" However, I figured this would be a bit of fun. Let's give it a try! :) If mods do not approve, feel free to lock this thread.

My first Apple-product was a used PowerMac G4. I got it in 2004 if I recall correctly. This computer was surprisingly a lot faster than my 2.0GHz Windows PC I had at the time. This made me realize what Apple products were all about. Not to mention I was now free from anti-virus programs.

Image

In 2005 I got my first iPod. A Black, 30GB fifth generation. I used it daily on my way to school and back. A great product.

In 2007 I bought my first Apple computer with my own money. A brand new 2.2 GHz MacBook Pro 15". I custom ordered it with a Glossy Display. Loved it! In 2012, after 5 years, I passed it onto my dad who still uses it.

Image

In 2007 I also got a 16GB iPod Touch. It didn't really have the same charm to me as the click-wheel model, but I liked it a lot. I used it until 2009 when I got an iPhone.

In 2008 I sold my Power Mac G4 and bought a 2004 iMac G5 17". 1.6 GHz, 1GB RAM. Nice screen, but a terribly loud computer. It suffered from various AirPort/BT problems as well. That said, I never really enjoyed it. I still have it around though.

Image

In 2009 I started high-school and received a 13" MacBook from school which we would keep during our three years. Afterwards we were given the option of purchasing them to keep. Mine was in great condition, other than small cracks in the casing. I sent it to Apple for repairs when school was over, got a brand new top-case, keyboard and trackpad for free. It looked like a new computer, so I decided to buy it. I passed it on to my mom and got myself something else.

Image

The same year, 2009, I got my first iPhone. A black iPhone 3GS 16GB. This particular model remains my favorite iPhone of all times.

Image

In 2011, I had had enough of the iMac G5 17" and got a brand new 21.5" iMac. Although only the base model w/ 2.5 GHz and 4GB of RAM, it was quite an upgrade from the 7 year old iMac G5!

Image

The same year, I also upgraded my iPhone 3GS to a 16GB 4S in Black.

Image

In 2012, as I had graduated from high-school, I figured I would be needing something new for Uni. The MacBook Air seemed like a perfect fit. I got the base 13" model, which still serves me well.

Image

In 2013 I got my first iPad, an iPad Mini 16GB. Not the retina model unfortunately.

In 2014 I sold my iPhone 4S and bought a iPhone 5S 16GB in Gold to tie me over until the iPhone 6 arrives. I'm super happy with the 5S.

Image

..And this is where I am today.

Edit: Removed certain pictures in order to keep the post fairly short.

Please share your story!

wow amazing! I've only been fortunate enough to have a macbook 13" in 2009 and it came with a 16gb ipod touch which was also my first ipod. Then, I was hooked in the mac game! I got my first iPhone 3 years ago and I don't think I will ever have a phone besides the iPhone. I'm still stuck on the 4S since I've always upgraded right before the newer models came out but this time I'm going to stick it out and wait till the 6. Hope it's worth the wait!

First Apple product I ever owned was a 1st Generation Black iPod Nano 2GB. That held me until it got full, and I got a 4GB 3rd Generation Nano from my parents, must have been 2007. In summer of 2009, I got my first Apple Computer, a base spec 2009 MacBook Pro C2D, which is still my mobile computer, and probably will be until it dies. Along with that purchase, I got a 2nd Generation iPod Touch. That held me until I got an iPhone 4S in 2011. Later that year, Apple issued the recall on 1st Generation Nanos, and I sent in my cracked nano and they sent back a brand new 8GB 6th Generation Nano, which is currently my running/exercise iPod. I ordered my current iPhone 5 on release night. Within the last year, I've transitioned my MacBook to a purely-mobile computer and purchased a 2008 Mac Pro, which is my main desktop. I also own a Dual 500 Mhz G4 tower (a gift from a friend) and a 1,1 Mac Pro ($70, dead video card [which I actually fixed this morning]) which is used in a recording studio where I work. Most recently, I picked up a 1.25GHz iMac G4 20" which has since been stripped and modded to accept a DVI input. Soon, it will have an Intel NUC inside it, but then is it really a Mac?

Very cool thread.

I'm horrible with dates, so I'll just share my story and background with Apple gear.

I grew up as a windows fan. Gaming, doing game design here and there from the time I was 8 or so, and clinging to the windows platform, while being fairly anti-Apple.

As I went through high school, I tried various MP3 players as they became available. The first was some 20GB cheapy that broke within a couple months, and the second was a Zune. Needless to say, the Zune was trash after a couple months as well.
After that I gave in and bought a first gen iPod Touch. Which I instantly loved. That iPod was the catalyst to me to move away from the dark side, so to speak.

B000JO3Y1O-5.jpg

This was about the time that iOS 2 was released, and when Apple first opened the developer program. With the iPod touch, this really attracted me, as I had a development background and wanted to do more with this device that had flipped my electronic world upside down. As if on schedule, the Vaio laptop I had stopped working - a hard drive failure paired with other issues that made a replacement necessary.
I took that opportunity to switch to Mac, with a white MacBook that at the time was incredible.

new-apple-white-macbook.jpg

I loved this setup. To me the pair was incredible. I graduated high school, and applied to be a developer. I was accepted, and began developing apps. This was my first "real" job, and I really fell in love with the platform, software development, and working on my terms.

I used that setup for a while, and then it seemed like all at once it was significantly upgraded...

iphones.jpg

ipad-1.jpg

apcnews2011apple-macbook-pro-238_mainImage3.jpg3.jpg

I upgraded the MacBook to a Pro, got a brand new Verizon iPhone 4, and a first gen iPad on launch day. These were all major upgrades, and left me with a great setup to work with. This lasted me about a year, then came new upgrades.

ipad-2-61.jpg

I used this iMac until about 8 months ago. It was a great desktop, and I miss it even now.
The 4S and iPad 2 were solid, and extremely reliable for me. Though the mobile devices were on a yearly upgrade path by that point. So they made way rapidly...

tmo_iphone5.jpg

ipad-3-image-header-inside-article.jpg

111ipad.jpg

Last year I had some events in my life that pushed me away from Apple gear due to circumstances and my own soapbox. I ended up switching to Android and a Dell All-in-one.
This may have been the biggest mistake of my life, and is definitely a major regret.

Now, about 8 months after this, I'm back to Apple for good. This has meant rebuilding both my entire setup, starting with an iPad Mini, which was all that was left from my former setup. The final piece, a 27" iMac, arrives tomorrow.

My first Apple-product was a used PowerMac G4.

I bought that new when it was the latest greatest just released screaming fast ultra power user machine. I still have one, and it's a good reminder of how far things have come.
