stayed at the omni downtown for convenience on sunday. ate dinner at noe. used to go there often many years back. there's a new (japanese) chef there now and his menu is kind of pacific rimmish. they used to do a 7 course tasting nightly, but now it's only if you call in advance. in any case, the kids were with us so we just ordered a ton of food and shared, family style.

had dinner at oliva the other night in the sherman oaks area. it's not particularly fancy, but the food is really good - definitely some of the better italian food in LA. we had a table of 5 adults and we ordered family style.
