Perfectly happy with mine.

Last year I had 1 meg down and 0.4 meg up.

Then a nice little company called Vtesse Networks installed a FTTC system where I live (Fibre to the cabinet).

It feels like lightening compared to the old connection.

(Disclaimer: I'm not connected to Vtesse Networks, they cost a bloody fortune, about £50 per month. This isn't an advert)

The irony is that I live in Silicon Valley, where there are many technology companies and etc. but the fastest Internet is just ...

Fastest DSL plan from AT&T. Verizon FiOS isn't available in my location.

Even if it sounds good on paper, you want to avoid this carrier if you connect mainly overseas. Everything that hooks to the Telekom backbone is more suitable for that application, I had the Telekom's U-Verse equivalent before (they even use the same Motorola STB, only difference was that the color of the GUI is Telekom magenta rather than AT&T blue), and it reached full 50MBit/s overseas.

$75/mo incl. landline flatrate.

Incredible download speed. I with UK would provide such connections as well.

Do they have a fair usage limit of some sort? I'm with O2 and they've got a ridiculous 250GB a month policy. With your speed, you'd reach that limit within 6 hours.

I just hate the UK providers. They are cheap, but as usual, you get what you pay for, in my case 8 down, 1 up, and the stupid fair usage policy.

No volume limit at all, but torrent speed is restricted, which sucks. And as stated, it's really slow once you connect somewhere over the atlantic ocean.

Virgin Broadband UK has the same 100MBit/s EuroDOCSIS3 line without a volume limit for £43 incl. phone line, in case you're interested. I guess the availability is restricted to a bunch of bigger towns as well, though.
Don't bother about TV via cable, you don't really get anything more than you get on Freesat anyways (big fan of Freesat, btw:D).
